These 'Britney Jean' demos are remarkable
During production of Britney Spears‘s most recent album, Britney Jean, she worked with a host of producers and songwriters on songs that were being considered for inclusion on the album. When will.i.am was made executive producer of the album, it was pretty much determined that all of the most exciting options for the album would not make the cut and will’s boring vision for the album would shape Britney Jean. Today we get to hear portions of two demos that were written for Britney‘s album by Blood Orange (whose real name is Devonté Dev Hynes) that have mysteriously made their way online. The songs may not stay online for long, tho, so click below and have a listen while you can. You MUST hear what Britney‘s album could’ve sounded like. More »
"Brother Kendrick Lamar, he's not a rapper, he's a writer"
Last week, Shannon reminded us how great rapper Kendrick Lamar is with her fun #ThrowbackThursday post but today, we get to hear some new stuff from the man. Kendrick has released a new song titled i that features a sample of the song That Lady by The Isley Brothers. Now, I’m not really a Kendrick Lamar connoisseur but this new song sounds like a bit of a departure from the music he usually puts out. Click below to hear i in full and see what you think. More »

In English, Spanish and French
Um. So. Ricky Martin has just released a new single titled Adiós that has been recorded in English, Spanish and English & French and as you can hear for yourself, the song is pretty horrendous in any language. Of the 3 versions, I guess the song sounds best in Spanish … but that is not saying much. I listened to the song a few times and, yeah, I just do not love it at all. Click the embed above to hear Adiós in English and see what you think. Am I being too harsh? You can click below to hear the song in Spanish and French to compare … or further torture yourself. Eek. 'The Way He Looks At Me'
Back in July we learned that Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor was still very hard at work, with collaborator Atticus Ross, on the soundtrack for the upcoming David Fincher film Gone Girl. Today we get our first listen of music from the soundtrack. Reznor has released a song titled The Way He Looks At Me for our listening pleasure. As you may recall, TR described the sound of the Gone Girl score as “the really terrible music you hear in massage parlors … The way that it artificially tries to make you feel like everything’s OK. And then imagine that sound starting to curdle and unravel.” I’d say this song fits that bill perfectly.
The song drops on Sept. 29
A couple of days ago we heard that Fergie Ferg was planning to release a new single titled L.A. LOVE (La La) on September 29 and today we hear and see bonafide proof that the song is on its way. Fergie made an appearance on stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, NV last night to announce a live performance by Ed Sheeran and as she stepped on stage a short snippet of her new single was played in the background. Click the video embedded above to HEAR this short snippet of Fergie‘s new song and get a quick taste of what’s to come. Then, click below to see the official single release announcement that Fergie posted on her official Instagram profile last night. More »

But why am I just now discovering King Krule?!
The Smith family doesn’t always get my attention in the most positive way, but I like to keep an ear out for new Willow Smith music. She’s released a few fun tracks over the years and now she’s back with a cover of a King Krule track. I actually hadn’t heard of this artist until now, but I dig his original version as well. Click inside for more!
