First Listen: Neil Patrick Harris (As Music Meister), ‘Drives Us Bats’

NPH plays an animated Batman villain ... who sings
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Neil Patrick Harris, who proved he is quite a singer as both Dr. Horrible and as Tony Awards host, is guest starring as an animated villain called the Music Meister who takes on Batman in the animated series Batman: The Brave and the Bold (which airs on Cartoon Network) in an upcoming episode. Here are a few screencaps from a music video for the song Drives Us Bats which features NPH on vocals:

No, it’s not a clip from Dr. Horrible 2. Nor is it a sneak peek at How I Met Your Mother’s music-filled 100th episode. Rather, it’s an exclusive first look at Neil Patrick Harris’ show-stopping turn as the evil Music Meister in the Oct. 23 episode of Cartoon Network’s Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Warning: The following clip could drive you batty (but in a good way)!

OMG … I love this!! While the song isn’t terribly good, I love that NPH is voicing a Batman villain who sings! In fact, this entire episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold will be a musical ep! After the jump, check out the song Drives Us Bats — and as a bonus, watch the entire episode titled Mayhem of The Music Meister

The title song, This Is It, was released online late last night for all to hear:

Apparently, this track will be released in two versions on the new soundtrack album for the This Is It film … a slow ballad, This Is It has a bit of a mournful feel to it. After the jump, listen to the new track from Michael Jackson in full …

First Listen: Britney Spears, ‘3’

"Livin’ in sin is the new thing"
Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

It’s out!! Britney Spears’s new single, 3, which will be included on her new album Britney Spears: The Singles Collection (due out in November) has made it’s debut on US radio for all to hear. It turns out that Brit Brit decided to release a song that champions the wonders of the ménage à trois … or threesome. The lyrics of the song are not subtle at all, behold:

Click HERE to hear the song
3
(M.Martin/Shellback/T.Amber)

1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I’m caught in between
Countin’
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin’ down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
Countin’

Babe, pick a night
To come out and play
If it’s alright
What do you say?

Merrier the more
Triple fun that way
Twister on the floor
What do you say?

Are – you in
Livin’ in sin is the new thing (yeah)
Are – you in
I am countin’!

1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I’m caught in between
Countin’
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin’ down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
Countin’

Three is a charm
Two is not the same
I don’t see the harm
So are you game?

Lets’ make a team
Make ‘em say my name
Lovin’ the extreme
Now are you game?

Are – you in
Livin’ in sin is the new thing
Are – you in
I am countin’!

1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I’m caught in between
Countin’
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin’ down with 3P
Everybody loves ***

What we do is innocent
Just for fun and nothin’ meant
If you don’t like the company
Let’s just do it you and me
You and me…
Or three….
Or four….
- On the floor!

HMMM … but what does it sound like? It is upbeat as I hoped, has a bit of a electro feel to it … sounds like it came from the recording sessions for her last album Circus rather than her previous recording sessions. After all, pretty much all of the unreleased demos from Blackout were leaked to the Internets and this song was not among them. After the jump, listen to 3 in full and judge the song for yourselves …

Eminem Blasts Mariah Carey In A New Diss Track

'The Warning' threatens, "Mariah, it ever occur to you that I still have pictures?"
Friday, July 31st, 2009

In the seemingly unyielding back and forth battle between Mariah Carey and Eminem, the latest volley attack has been unleashed upon the world. As you may recall, Mimi released a new music video for her single Obsessed wherein she played a stalker in the video that bared a striking resemblance to rapper Eminem who previously put MC on blast after he reportedly hooked up with her a few years back. Now, Em has released a new diss track called The Warning wherein he addresses Mimi’s attack on him and he levels his own attack/threats on her:

Eminem and Mariah Carey are at it again. On Thursday, the rapper debuted a new song, “The Warning,” slamming his ex and going into full detail about a sexual encounter they once had. “Only reason I dissed you in the first place is because you denied seeing me. Now I’m pissed off,” he says before he starts his rap. “You wanna hear something wick wack?/ I got the same exact tattoo that’s on Nick’s back,” he says, referring to Carey’s husband Nick Cannon. Eminem also blasts Carey for mocking him in her latest music video, “Obsessed.” “Oh gee, is that supposed to be me in the video with the goatee?/ Wow Mariah, didn’t expect ya to go balls out./ Bitch, shut the fuck up before I put all those phone calls out/ When you was wilding out/ Before Nick, when you was on my dick,” he raps. He then threatens to reveal personal pictures he has of the Carey. “Mariah, it ever occur to you that I still have pictures?” he asks. The feud between the two began earlier this year after Eminem namedropped Carey in the track “Bagpipes From Baghdad” from his latest album Relapse. “Mariah whatever happened to us / Why did we ever have to break-up?” he rapped. “Nick Cannon, you better back the fuck up. I’m not playing, I want her back, you punk.” Cannon later shot back on his blog, calling the rapper (who goes by the name “Slim Shady”) “Slim Lamey.” He added that Eminem is “still obsessed with my wife, the same female that wouldn’t let him get to second base from 8 years ago.” A month or so later, Carey got the last laugh by mocking Eminem in “Obsessed.”

Children, can’t you two play nice? I have to say … as embarrassingly juvenile as all of this public fighting is, I have to admit that it’s terribly entertaining. For the life of me, I do not understand why Mariah Carey insists on going up against a diss maestro like Eminem. She will never win in a war of words with him … and if she’s counting on her young hubby Nick Cannon to defend her honor, well, I’m afraid he’s not much of a match for Marshall Mathers. If explicit photos of her do exist and they are in Em’s possession, they’re gonna get out. Why piss off a person — who has no qualms about taking things too far — with such dangerous ammunition? It’s totally comical. After the jump, hear Eminem’s new diss track The Warning in full and check out the LULz for yourselves …

First Listen: Madonna, ‘Celebration’

Plus the ‘Celebration’ single gets new artwork
Thursday, July 30th, 2009

A week ago today we got our first look at the album artwork for Madonna’s latest greatest hits album Celebration and today we get our first look at the single coverartwork for the title track. Celebration will be released to radio on Friday July 31 and will be available for download at Amazon (DRM free) and iTunes next Tuesday August 4:

My compatriots, my friends, my peeps … I have been sent the full HQ version of this track and let me assure you, it is AWESOME! It’s the best single Madonna has released since Confessions on a Dancefloor. In fact, it has that great clubby sound that her single Get Together has … it’s one of those songs that you can totally lose yourself to on the dancefloor. To be 100% completely honest, I haven’t stopped playing the song since I first played it. It’s really goooood. Don’t believe me … then listen for yourselves. After the jump, hear the song in full …
