It's a slow jam
In the wake of the surprising but very exciting news that Prince has signed a new contract with his old record label Warner Bros. Records to release a NEW album as well as a bunch of old, previously unreleased material from his treasure trove of recordings from the 80′s, Prince has unleashed upon the world a new single titled The Breakdown. As I understand it, Prince performed this song in concert last Fall but just before midnight last night he released it officially for sale on iTunes. Have a listen of this new Prince track below. Today we get our first listen of Pharrell‘s contribution to the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack. The song is titled Here and it doesn’t sound very much like the music that we usually get from Pharrell. The man can sing, y’all. Have a listen below. More »
"Down on the West Coast, they got a sayin' ..."
Last week Lana Del Rey announced the title of her new single, West Coast, and revealed that the song would debut in full today. Over the weekend, tho, LDR previewed the song during a concert performance in Las Vegas and then performed the track in full at Coachella. Today, tho, the song has been officially unleashed upon the world. Click the video embed above to hear West Coast, the first single from Lana‘s upcoming new album Ultraviolence. The song has a bit of a different vibe for a LDR song. If this first single is any indication, it would appear that Lana‘s sound has evolved a bit … which is very nice. Have a listen, see what you think. A new era of Lana Del Rey music is now upon us.

"If ya love The Beatles and John Lennon you gonna love this!!!"
Last month we learned that Miley Cyrus teamed up with Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips to record a cover of the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (while she was “high as f*ck”, mind you) and today we learn that she has recorded at least one other Beatles song, too. Coyne is working on a re-imagining of the Beatles album Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band made up of cover recordings and it would appear that Miley is featured on at least two songs from that album. Click below to hear a short snippet of Miley‘s version of the Beatles song A Day in the Life. More »
Featuring Tori's daughter Natashya Lórien
Tori Amos made a radio appearance on Radio Eins earlier today and at the end of her appearance, a clip of her new song Promise was played on air. Promise is one of the tracks included on Tori‘s forthcoming new album Unrepentant Geraldines and it features her daughter Natashya Lórien on guest vocals. We’ve previously heard Tash sing on Tori‘s albums Midwinter Graces and Night of Hunters, which came out a few years ago. As you can hear below, Tash‘s voice has matured considerably. The audio below is just a portion of the song but it does give us a pretty good feel for the song overall. Have a listen. More »
Hear It Here

It's cool, daddy-o
Pianist Scott Bradlee teamed up with sax man Dave Koz to record a Smooth jazz version of the Game of Thrones theme song and as you can hear above, it kinda rules the 7 realms. Dave Koz and I go WAY back. When I played saxophone in middle school and high school band, Koz was my favorite sax player to look up to (I was a member of his fan club and may have stalked him a bit at an in-store appearance). I’ve been a big fan ever since … so it’s great to see that he’s still doing great things today. The GoT theme song is pretty dope in its original form but if you’re in the mood for a smooth, jazzy version of the song … then this version is for you. Enjoy.
