Ok, Really. Who Is This Chic?!
A few weeks ago I’d never heard of Ariana Grande. But then Justin Bieber went and kissed her on Instagram, and all hell broke loose so I had to find out who she was. It’s like they say– there’s no such thing as bad publicity. And when she performed outside of the MTV Video Music Awards I definitely recognized her name– and I was really digging her voice. The Victorious actress just released a new video for Baby I, and I am officially, kind of, a fan! She’s friggen adorable, and since I know she can actually sing live, I’m into it. I feel like a total teeny-bopper right now, but I can’t help it. Peep the video for more and check out lyrics to the song over at DirectLyrics!

"I'm about to explode"
Coldplay has just released the lyric video for their new song Atlas, the first from the forthcoming soundtrack to the film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. As you can hear in the video embedded above, the song is a slower jam … one that, I assume, is meant to have an epic feel about it. Personally, I’m not the biggest Coldplay fan so the song doesn’t really do much for me. But, then again, I can’t remember the last time I was particularly impressed with the soundtrack to any film in recent memory. As much as I loved The Hunger Games, I couldn’t even tell you the name of 2 songs on the film’s soundtrack. I suspect the same will happy this time around when Catching Fire is released but … I’m certain there are others out there who love this kind of thing. Are you one of them? What do you think of Atlas by Coldplay?

Back in June, M.I.A. released a new song titled Bring the Noize which, we learned at the time, would be featured on her upcoming new album Matangi (due out in November). Today we get to hear her just-released newest single Come Walk With Me, also to be featured on her forthcoming album. Come Walk With Me is a vastly different single from Bring The Noize but it does give us a better understanding of how well-rounded Matangi might be. Click the embed above to give the song a listen. Matangi will be released on November 5.
Céline is 'Back'
It’s been a minute since Céline Dion graced us with the pleasure of hearing her soaring voice in song but she’s back with a new single and, presumably, a new album to follow. Over the Labor Day weekend, Céline first previewed and then released the audio of a new song titled Loved Me Back to Life. As you can hear below, the song is a mid-tempo ballad-y track that showcases her big voice well and signals, I think, the new direction that she is taking with her return to music. Click below to hear the song in full and see what you think of Céline Dion‘s return. More »
TWERK TWERK TWERK TWERK
Folks … the end is nigh … or, at the very least, the end of twerking may finally be upon us … because today we get to hear a newly leaked song about twerking titled Twerk as recorded by the tween twerk queen Miley Cyrus and her BFF Justin Bieber. It’s unknown if this ode to twerking will ever be officially released as a single or on an album but … it’s out now … and there’s no going back. Click the embed above, if you dare, to give this new song a listen and see what you think about it. Twerking may be here to stay or it may have just been killed forever by this song so … remember this day.
"Say F*ck It / Before we kick the bucket"
Yesterday we learned that Detroit rapper Eminem is readying the release of a new album, titled The Marshall Mathers LP 2, later this year and today we get to hear the first single, titled Berzerk, from that album in full. As you can hear in the embed above, Berzerk is a sample-heavy track (produced by Dr. Dre, btw) that sounds like classic Eminem. It’s been a long time since Em came at us with a single this strong, so I think fans are going to lose their shizz with the return of Slim Shady. Check out the audio of Berzerk above and see what you think.

'Don’t you ever say I just walked away/I will always want you'
I’m sure Miley Cyrus is somewhere getting ready for her MTV VMA performance. And by ‘getting ready’ I mean ‘perfecting that twerk.’ We learned a little while back that Miley will be releasing her new album BANGERZ in October, and last night she shared a new single with her fans. I’m listening to Wrecking Ball right now and I’m pleasantly surprised to be so into it! I love fashion-stalking Miley (she’s so full of highs and lows… LOL), but I’m only recently paying attention to her music and I wasn’t all that into We Can’t Stop. Wrecking Ball (produced by Dr. Luke) could be the new jam. Peep the audio above for more and go to DirectLyrics to check out the words. Oh, and get ready for the Terry Richardson-directed Wrecking Ball video that’s headed our way… aghhhh!
Are you into this new jam or what?
Last month, when Nine Inch Nails made their worldwide live return at the Fuji Rocks Festival in Japan, the new song Find My Way was debuted live for the first time anywhere. Today we get to hear the studio version of that song as it will appear on the album Hesitation Marks which is out next month. The studio version of Find My Way was debuted on Zane Lowe‘s show on BBC Radio 1 show last night and, naturally, has since been making the rounds online. Unlike Everything, the last new song that we got to hear from NIN, Find My Way sounds very much like a classic Nails track (while Everything sounds like a more interesting departure from the usual NIN fare). Click the embed above to hear the studio version of Find My Way (which you can compare to the live version HERE) and get excited! We are just about a month away from the release of the new NIN album Hesitation Marks!!!
... and it's a Happy song
Nine Inch Nails will formally release the new single Everything tomorrow but we get to hear the song in full today … right here, right now. The track is the latest from the forthcoming new album Hesitation Marks, due out next month, and as you can hear in the embed above … it’s quite a departure from the music Nine Inch Nails has released in the past. Everything is a happy song … it’s a happy, upbeat and extremely positive song … which, I have to admit, is quite shocking for me. I like the song but it’s going to take me minute to wrap my head around the reality of such a different offering from NIN. The lyrics are very telling and quite confessional for Trent Reznor … it’s not a song I expected to hear from this new era of music. Give the song a listen above and see what you think. I’m very curious to hear your comments below.
'Higher' By Just Blaze & Baauer, Featuring Jay Z
Nabil has made amazing music videos for artists like Kanye West and Frank Ocean, and now it looks like the acclaimed director might be venturing into short film. Just Blaze (one of Hip Hop’s biggest producers and frequent collaborator of Jay Z‘s) has teamed up with Baauer (the guy who brought us the whole Harlem Shake movement) on a new single called Higher. Higher features Jay Z, and the video just premiered the other day. None of the artists actually appear in the video/short film; instead Nabil shot the footage in Kerala, India and created a powerful story of honor and revenge, inspired by the Kalaripayattu (Indian martial arts) warriors. The video definitely has me yearning for more, which is why I was psyched to hear that a longer film might be in development. Peep the video for more! Are you into it?
