History Has Been Made Today
Earlier today, History was made here in the United States of America. By a vote of 63-33, the US Senate voted to cut off debate on the US Military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Policy which bans gays and lesbians from serving openly in all branches of the US military and moved the matter forward to a final vote that just took place in Washington DC to officially repeal the policy. By a vote of 65-31 (when only a simple majority vote of 51 was needed), the US Senate has officially voted to repeal the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Policy … paving the way for gays and lesbians to serve openly in the US Military. Now, there is still a bit of procedural work to be done and a mandatory 60 day grace period has to take place but the days of the US Military’s discrimination against gays and lesbians are OVER! Julia Stiles vehemently denies that she had an affair with MCH
On Tuesday we learned the very sad news that Dexter co-stars and real life married couple Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter have decided to end their marriage … and today we learn that the couple have taken things one step further toward divorce. Jennifer filed divorce papers in SoCal yesterday which very likely means that there will be no reconciliation:
TMZ has learned … Jennifer Carpenter just filed her petition for divorce this afternoon from her “Dexter” co-star Michael C. Hall … but it turns out they’ve been separated for a long time. According to the document, the date of separation is listed as August 9, 2010. Carpenter cites “irreconcilable differences” in the petition filed in L.A. County Superior Court. Carpenter is also asking for spousal support and for attorney’s fees. The couple, who married in 2008, have no children.
UGH … this break-up is just so sad. I just can’t get over it. What makes the matter even worse is the irresponsible rumors going around that actress Julia Stiles has anything to do with the couple’s break-up. It is the easiest and laziest assumption to claim that Julia — who joined the cast of Dexter this season in a guest starring role — started an extramarital affair with MCH and to blame her for the split. I just don’t understand how people can believe a cheating claim like this when it is based on no proof at all. Just because MCH and Julia Stiles acted together on the show, they had to have been engaging in a cheating affair? Because of all of the irresponsible rumors, Julia Stiles felt compelled to issue a statement denying that she had anything to do with MCH and Jennifer‘s split. After the jump, read Julia‘s full statement … More »
'The Fighter' and 'The King's Speech' lead the way
On Tuesday the nominations for the 2011 Golden Globe Awards were announced, some of which shocked many in Hollywood because of who did (Burlesque) and did not (True Grit) get noms. Today, the nominations for the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced and, thankfully, the list reads more in line with a prestigious awards show rather than the MTV Movie Awards:
“The King’s Speech” and “The Fighter” solidified their positions as Oscars front-runners Thursday morning when they each received four nominations for the 17th Screen Actors Guild Awards. “The King’s Speech,” a period drama about King George VI’s efforts to correct his stammer, earned nominations for Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter and, perhaps most importantly, in the ensemble category — SAG’s equivalent of the best picture Oscar. “The Fighter,” a drama about a Boston boxer who gets his shot at the championship, earned nods for Christian Bale, Melissa Leo, Amy Adams and ensemble. Notably missing from that list: lead actor Mark Wahlberg. “The Social Network,” which has been dominating critics’ awards, received only two nominations: for lead actor Jesse Eisenberg and for ensemble. “True Grit,” which was snubbed Tuesday when the Golden Globe nominations were announced, earned nods for lead actor Jeff Bridges and supporting female actor Hailee Steinfeld. Besides the omission of Wahlberg, there were some other surprises in the film categories. Hilary Swank earned a nomination for her lead role in “Conviction,” a movie that generally has been overlooked so far this awards season. And 79-year-old Robert Duvall, who also has been underappreciated this awards season, was recognized by SAG with a nomination for his role as a hermit in the period drama “Get Low.” Rounding out the lead male actor category is James Franco for “127 Hours.” Competing with Swank are Annette Bening for “The Kids Are All Right,” Nicole Kidman for “Rabbit Hole,” Jennifer Lawrence for “Winter’s Bone” and Natalie Portman for “Black Swan.” Mila Kunis was nominated in the supporting actress category for “Black Swan” along with Bonham Carter, Adams, Leo and Steinfeld. Joining Bale and Rush in the supporting actor category are John Hawkes for “Winter’s Bone,” Jeremy Renner for “The Town” and Mark Ruffalo for “The Kids Are All Right.” Besides “The Fighter” and “The King’s Speech,” the nominees for best performance by a cast in a motion picture are “Black Swan,” “The Kids Are All Right” and “The Social Network.”
Like the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards also honors acting excellence in television. After the jump, find out which TV shows and actors managed to secure SAG noms today … More »
"We are having twins."
First, the very pregs Mariah Carey referred to the children she is carrying in her womb as “they” leading people to speculate that she is having twins … then, hubby Nick Cannon flat out denied that the couple are having twins. Today, we hear from Nick again in a new radio interview and he is now telling us something different. Nick Cannon has come out and finally confirmed that yes, Mimi is carrying twins in her baby bump:
Ever since Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon confirmed their pregnancy news, the world has been wondering: Is it a boy or a girl? Maybe even multiples? On Thursday, Cannon himself put rumors to rest on his radio show, telling listeners, “We are having twins.” The two have been cautious about revealing too many details since they’ve had a “long journey” to parenthood, which included a miscarriage in 2008. But when President Barack Obama happened to ask about her pregnancy, Carey just couldn’t keep a secret. While performing at TNT’s Christmas in Washington 2010 on Sunday, Carey ran into President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama backstage. “They, ironically enough, questioned my wife about, you know, ‘So, what are you having, are you having twins?’ ” Cannon said Thursday morning on his 92.3 Rollin’ With Nick Cannon radio show. “And at this point she hadn’t told anybody anything because doctors advised us to keep it to ourselves until we get further along,” he said. “And because of the excitement, because of the emotion, she was overwhelmed [and] she shared with the President and First Lady that we are having twins.”
Aww … I love it! My guess is that Mr. & Mrs. Cannon prolly wouldn’t've confirmed the twins until Mimi gave birth if it wasn’t for the nosiness of the Obamas. To be honest, I don’t care what inspired them to spill the beans … this is just happy, happy news! We do NOT know if the twins will be identical or fraternal nor do we know when Mariah is due to give birth. But we do know she and Nick will be the happy parents of TWO adorable babies very soon … I cannot wait to meet them :D

It's about damn time!
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has one, Betty White has one … even the entire cast of Glee has one — now Britney Spears has one, too! Our dear Britney will be featured in her very own comic book from Bluewater Productions in March (the very same month her new album will be released). Here is our first look at Britney‘s soon-to-be-released comic book:
Oops!…Bluewater Productions Did It Again — with another comic book about a famous pop star, “Fame: Britney Spears.” The solicitation copy for the comic, which hits stands in March, describes the story as follows:
“Britney Spears — the most famous superstar of the 21st century. What does it take to reach those heights in the Internet Age? What are the hidden costs when every move makes the headlines? More than an entertainment powerhouse. More than a dancer and musician. Britney Spears is a survivor!”
Will the comic, written by CW Cooke and pencilled by Ricardo Jaime, cover Britney’s days in the Mickey Mouse Club? The infamous head-shaving incident? Her triumphant comeback?
This is fantastic! I know I’ll be buying at least 5 copies. My guess is that, yes, the comic book will cover Britney‘s stellar career but will gloss over (or leave out entirely) the more stickier parts of her life story. To be honest, I could care less if they leave all the bad stuff in or not … I MUST own the Britney Spears comic book. Woot!! How awesome is this?! How many copies will YOU be buying when Fame: Britney Spears is released next year?
Uh oh! We’ve got another celebrity break-up to discuss … and this one is even bigger than Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter‘s split. The very married Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson have split up! Despite the fact that both Ryan and Scarlett have recently professed their love for one another in the press, TMZ reports that the couple are living apart and are planning to divorce. Sad but true, ScRyan are dunzo, y’all!
TMZ has learned Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson have separated. We’re told Ryan and Scarlett are living apart. And we’re told it’s amicable. We’re told Ryan and Scarlett are living apart. And we’re told it’s amicable. Ryan and Scarlett released a statement through their rep, telling TMZ,
“After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.”
Ryan told GQ in September, Scarlett was “the best part” of his life, though he said having a family was “a few years down the road.” Ryan was named PEOPLE magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive last month. Interesting — the couple was rarely seen out together. The most visible appearance — at the Tony Awards this past June. The couple was married in September, 2008.
It’s strange, the couple kinda popped up out of nowhere when they started going out … then the secret wedding … and now the sudden split. Doesn’t it kinda sound like they rushed into things a bit and ended up figuring out that they weren’t meant to be married? As you may recall, Ryan was engaged to Alanis Morissette shortly before he left her for Scarlett … now Alanis is happily married and expecting the birth of her first child. I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about the death of ScRyan in the days to come … still, as surprising as this news is … I can’t say I’m totally shocked. What do y’all think?
