My Children Would Never Hold Me Against My Will!
I was beginning to think we’d never hear from the woman herself, but Katherine Jackson, the matriarch of The Jackson family has finally broken her silence about the recent, troubling goings-on in her family. Yesterday we saw video surveillance footage of a dispute between Janet Jackson and her niece Paris, and we also learned that Katherine Jackson‘s guardianship over her grandchildren (Paris, Prince and Blanket) was revoked. The children are now in the care of their cousin, TJ Jackson. Katherine Jackson says her piece about all this, inside.

What I Learned After Aurora
PITNB’s NEW popCULTURE CLUB: theoretically putting the “culture” back in “pop culture,” one post at a time…***
This past weekend we all pointed fingers in one direction or another. Most of us pointed at a 24-year old gunman
who took lives which were not his to take. Some of us pointed at guns and gun legislation. Others pointed at mothers– mothers who took their children to a midnight movie showing at a theatre in Aurora, Colorado
and a mother who may have seen something important in her child that she did not address soon enough. Even a movie, The Dark Knight Rises
, saw its fair share of blame. Inadvertently or otherwise, many of us referred to the Colorado
massacre as ‘The Dark Knight Rises shooting
,’ and headlines made note of the killer’s references to himself as The Joker
. When we cannot comprehend an act (either of beauty or malice), it’s natural and important for us to figure out the individual person or thing responsible. Children want to know where babies come from, adults want to know where humans come from, and we all want to know how a tragedy occurs. But in seeking that knowledge, I find that we inevitably participate in the blame game which is– perhaps– how our society arrives at certain tragedies in the first place.
Masked Gunman Opens Fire in a Packed Movie Theater
Really terrible and very scary breaking news to share … a gunman opened fire inside a movie theater in Aurora, CO early this morning at one of the first showings of The Dark Knight Rises. According to reports, a heavily armed 24 year old male — wearing a gas mask and bullet proof vest — stormed a packed movie theater and first released gas canisters (possibly tear gas) and or an explosive device before he indiscriminately fired upon people in the audience with 4 weapons. As it stands now,
14 people are reported killed with 50 more people injured UPDATE: the number of dead has been lowered to 12, number of injured has been raised to 59. CNN is reporting that 10 of the dead were killed on the scene, in the theater and the 2 others died later at the hospital. Click below to read more and watch disturbing and frantic cell phone video that was filmed by a movie goer on the scene just after the shooting took place. More »
Rumor Has It ...
Back in May we learned that auditions for the forthcoming sequel film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire had begun and at the time 3 high profile actors were said to be in the running for the highly coveted role of Finnick Odair. It is now mid-July and, according to reports, none of those actors have secured the role … but we are hearing that a different actor has been offered the role. Sam Claflin, the British actor who played the minor role of William in Snow White and the Huntsman, has reportedly been offered the role of Finnick Odair … all he has to do, the report claims, is say yes. Andrew Stanton will Direct!
Later this year Disney/Pixar will re-release a 3D version of the animated film Finding Nemo. Today we learn that plans have been announced for a proper sequel to Finding Nemo … a new film that will be directed by Andrew Stanton — the man who directed the original film. True, Stanton is also the director responsible for the embarrassing $200 million dollar flop John Carter but clearly Disney has faith that he will be able to rebound with a new Finding Nemo film.
