Last November, right around Thanksgiving time, a demo of Cher‘s new single Woman’s World leaked to the Internets. Since that time, we haven’t heard a peep about the single, a possible new album … nothing. Last night, Cher reminded the world that she’s got some new music up her sleeve by releasing the cover art for Woman’s World on her official Facebook profile, where she also made the announcement that she will be performing the song LIVE on TV next week. Click below to see the single art in full and find out when YOU can hear Cher perform Woman’s World LIVE! More »

"the bitches *are* back"
OMG … so, back in March I learned that Veruca Salt, one of my ALL-TIME favorite bands, launched official Facebook and Twitter accounts and judging on the photos (both old and NEW) that they have been posting in the months since, it seemed pretty evident that the band had gotten back together to possibly reunite for a tour … or something. I had a feeling that the band was up to something and I’ve been hoping that they might be up for playing some of their amazing old music together. Today I am happy to report that according to the band itself, they’re not only rehearsing old material … they’re making NEW music as well! I KNOW that there are a LOT of Veruca Salt fans out there who are LOSING THEIR SHIZZ right along side me right now. AHHHH! The band posted some photos over the weekend that show the foursome — Louise Post, Nina Gordon, Steve Lack and Jim Shapiro — rehearsing and working on “new songs” which you MUST see below immediately! "It just was not working"
In the wake of the exciting release this week of the new Nine Inch Nails single Came Back Haunted, we learn today that new NIN guitarist Adrian Belew (of King Crimson) has decided to leave the band. Belew posted a message on his official Facebook profile that announced his departure from NIN but that message has since been deleted from the page. He posted a follow-up message that is much shorter but still announces his departure from the band. As you may recall, we learned last month that bassist Eric Avery (of Jane’s Addiction) decided to leave the band due to the time commitment required from touring and has since been replaced with former NIN band member Robin Finck. The electronic music duo Daft Punk have built a reputation of mystery over the many years of their career because of their gimmick of only being seen in public while wearing their trademark helmets. That’s not to say that the members of Daft Punk, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, have never been out in public sans helmets but when they do appear in public they do not advertise their true identities … kind of like superheros. Well, all good things must come to an end. Now that Daft Punk is back with a new album and they are promoting that album in the age of social media, their attempt at keeping their “true identities” a secret has failed. The helmet-less Daft Punk guys were photographed playing beer pong with champagne (of course) inside the offices of Sony Music and, naturally, that photo was posted online. Altho it was quickly deleted, the photo was picked up by others and is now all over the place. Want to see what Daft Punk looks like without their helmets? Click below. More »
He Was 74 Years Old :(
Very sad news to pass along today … Ray Manzarek, one of the founding members of the iconic LA rock band The Doors, passed away at the age of 74 today. News of Manzarek‘s passing was announced on the official Facebook profile for The Doors. According to the statement, Ray succumbed to cancer. Blah. Even tho late lead singer Jim Morrison is the person that most people think about when they think of The Doors, Manzarek was just as integral to the band’s success as Morrison was. Ugh, this is such sad news. Click below to read the full text of this very sad death announcement. More »

It Looks Like the Protest was a Success
Earlier this month the Walt Disney Company crowned Brave character Princess Merida as its 11th Disney Princess and celebrated by giving the character a makeover that slimmed her down and “sexed” her up. As a result, angry fans launched a public protest of the changes and demanded that Disney Pixar undo the changes to the character so that she can “exist” as non-glam character she was created to be. Today we hear from Disney Pixar officially on Facebook that they are listening to the fan backlash and have promised that the “integrity and appearance” of Princess Merida will NOT be changed after all. I’d say that the angry fans handily won this battle. Click below to read the full text of Disney Pixar‘s Merida statement. More »
Back in February we learned from Trent Reznor himself that Nine Inch Nails was being reformed for an extensive upcoming world tour and at the time, he announced that former Jane’s Addiction member Eric Avery would be NIN‘s new touring bassist. Avery spent most of last year and part of this year touring the world with Garbage and, as a result, has ultimately decided that he cannot commit to hitting the road again with NIN. This is such bummer news ‘cuz Avery is among the most talented bass players around but, honestly, I understand. The state of Minnesota became the 12th state in the US to legalize same-sex marriage when Governor Mark Dayton signed the state’s bill into law yesterday evening. In celebration of this wonderful advancement of equal rights in that part of the country, the city of Minneapolis turned the I-35 Bridge into a beautifully vibrant rainbow bridge of colors and shared the celebration on Facebook. "This is a giant planet and we’re lucky to live on it"
In the wake of the horrible bombing that took place at the Boston Marathon yesterday, comedian Patton Oswald penned an amazing bit of commentary on his official Facebook profile that synthesizes what so many people have been thinking since news of this latest tragedy began to spread but might not have been able to convey. It’s easy to want to crumble in the face of senseless evil — especially when the news tends to get worse and worse — but according to Oswald, the better option is to take comfort in the knowledge that there is far more good in the world than there is evil. As difficult as it is to believe sometimes, it’s really true. Click below to read the full text of Patton Oswald‘s Facebook post, I think you’ll find it heartening and uplifting. More »

When last we saw photos of our dear Britney Spears she was rockin’ that hot brunette look. But, alas, it looks like Britney grew tired of her darker locks and decided to go back to blonde. Britney unveiled her new/old blonde look in Las Vegas, NV over the weekend. Britney spent her Friday night at the One Drop performance by Cirque du Soleil … and she caught a bit of Shania Twain‘s LV show before she flew back home to SoCal. Check out a photo of Brit Brit in Sin City with her peeps below. More »
