Early this morning I had the extreme fortune to interview the amazing Julie Benz about the events that transpired on the season 4 finale episode of Dexter which aired last Sunday:

Now, I realize that there still may be a few folks out there who have yet to see the finale ep (for various reasons) so in order to keep those people unspoiled I’ll keep the deets about our chat behind the cut. I’ve posted the full audio of our conversation so that you can listen in and hear Julie talk about that final scene that aired Sunday night, her thoughts on her character Rita Morgan overall, what the show and the finale episode mean to her personally and more. Morrissey Wraps ‘The Swords Tour’ In Ventura, CA

Last night I ventured North to Ventura, CA to attend the last show of Morrissey‘s Swords Tour which, as it turns out, will very likely be my last concert of 2009 and, indeed, of the decade. You may recall that Jordan and I saw Moz play a show in Pomona, CA last Monday but I just had to see the Mozzer one more time. He actually played the Gibson Amphitheatre here in LA on Thursday night but I hear it wasn’t his best performance (Moz has been plagued by throat problems on this latest tour) … there was a lot of fear that he would cancel the Ventura show but it went off without a hitch. On my way up the 101 freeway, I made a pit stop at one of my fave places to eat in the whole world …

… my beloved Chick-Fil-A. Pink reader Laura gave me the head’s up that there is a Chick-Fil-A in Oxnard, CA (which is on the way to Ventura) so I just had to stop for a delish meal. I made it to The Ventura Theater just in time for Moz to take the stage:

After the jump, check out some of the pics I snapped last night and see the full amazing setlist …

Morrissey Rocks Pomona, CA

Last night my good friend Jordan and I made our way East to Pomona, CA to see Morrissey live in concert at the Fox Theater as he tours the US on The Swords Tour:

I’ve been a HUGE fan of Morrissey for years, decades now so I was very anxious to see him live in concert again. When last I saw Moz, I was still living in Detroit, MI and I saw him perform at the StateTheater on February 13, 2000. It was at that show that Morrissey stripped off his sweaty t-shirt and threw it high into the air and it came down right in my arms … the best Morrissey concert experience of my life. Unfortch, I was not lucky enough to get the sweaty shirt last night … but Jordan and I were treated to a pretty fantastic concert. After the jump, check out some of the photos I was able to snap last night and see the full show setlist …

Heaps O’ Fun

Last night David and I met up with our new friends Emma and Josh at The Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood, CA to see Imogen Heap perform live in concert:

Now, I’ve been a HUGE Imogen fan from way back in the day … pre-electronics, pre-Frou Frou, back when it was just her and her piano opening up for Rufus Wainwright. I’ve been fortunate enough to see Immi live in concert many times so I was very excited to be able to see her kick off her latest tour in support of her new album Ellipse. After the jump, check out some of the photos that I was able to snap last night and hear all about the show …

They're in this together now
Exclusive: Mariqueen Maandig & Trent Reznor Got Hitched!

Yesterday I mentioned that David and I were in attendance at the joyous wedding of our dear friends Mariqueen Maandig and Trent Reznor on Saturday night and I shared a few photos from the wedding reception. But while I still will not share the intimate details of the wedding ceremony itself (as I said before, it’s not my story to tell) I would like to share with all y’all a few more photos from the event. Here is the exclusive first look at Mr. & Mrs. Trent and Mariqueen Reznor on their wedding day this past Saturday:

The bride was absolutely stunning in her beautiful wedding dress and the groom was lookin’ pretty swanky himself. It is my extreme pleasure to share the beautiful sight of our newly and very happily wedded friends :)

After the jump, check out an adorable photo of the Mr. & Mrs. sharing their first dance together as husband and wife and also check out a really fun photo of Mariqueen rockin’ her sexy red reception dress …

Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid

Last night my friend Sergio, in town from Detroit this weekend, and I made our way to Club Nokia at LA Live in downtown LA last night to see KMFDM in concert. The German industrial band is currently on their Kein Mitleid Tour and not only was I lucky enough to attend but I was graciously set up with a photo pass so that I could snap some pics of the band rockin’ out on stage last night. Here are a few of the photos that I took last night:

I have been a huge fan of KMFDM for many, many years. They were effing incredible last night. For various reasons, I haven’t been able to see the band perform live for a few years so I was anxious to see them on stage again … I was not disappointed in the least. The new material was awesome but the classic tracks they performed were just KILLER! If you are a fan of KMFDM, this tour is not to be missed. Among my fave songs I got to hear last night was Megalomaniac, Light and Godlike and former KMFDM member Tim Skold came out to perform with the band for the encore! It was just AMAZING!! The band cares so dearly for their fans (Keiner Macht Fur Dich Mehr) … they are worth the devotion.

Quick story: I first saw the band live back in 1995 at Deep Ellum Live in Dallas, TX. There was a problem with the venue because the band had a strict policy about not marking up their t-shirts because they didn’t want to exploit their fans. They sold their shirts for $15 and Deep Ellum wanted to jack up the price to $25 … KMFDM vehemently refused and almost canceled the show. They decided not to sell any merch at the show at all and the concert went off as planned. At the end of the show, they announced that they would be selling merch at a record store down the street for the regular low prices and hung around to sign autographs and take photos with everyone who showed up. From that moment on, I was a devoted fan. I am so happy I was able to see the guys and Lucia live last night … the show was fantastic!! Click HERE to see all the pics I snapped last night.

Today … David and I are running a special errand (which I have to keep secret for another hour or so … watch my Twitter for the reveal) and then tonight we are going to the wedding of a couple of dear friends of ours. It’s going to be an amazingly fabulous day … I can’t wait to enjoy it :)

Kylie Minogue WOWs The Crowd In Oakland, CA

As I mentioned earlier today, Kylie Minogue kicked off her first ever North American Tour here in Oakland, CA last night in a lavish show that pretty much blew everyone in attendance away. As soon as I heard that Kylie would be launching a US tour, I knew I had to be at her opening night performance.

It worked out very well that David’s brother Aram lives here in San Francisco so we were able to kill two birds with one stone. There are already so many photos, videos, etc. flying around about Kylie‘s tour that I am going to try to keep the spoilers at a minimum. I managed to snap TONS of great photos last night. If you are so inclined, you can see some of my photos, check out the merch booth that will be available at the shows and watch a short video of Kylie‘s entrance on stage last night — after the jump …

Rawk Of Ages

Last night David and I were able to attend the Friday night performance of Rock of Ages on Broadway, which was our second time seeing the show …. to see the Broadway debut of my good friend Tom Lenk! Broadway veteran Kerry Butler (who I LOVED in Xanadu: the Musical) also joined the show last night in the lead role of Sherrie! I can’t even express how much more amazing Rock of Ages is now that Tom and Kerry have joined the cast:

It was so cool seeing Tom‘s name in the Playbill … seeing him on stage was just fantastic. He kills as Franz and I cannot recommend enough that all y’all should see this show NOW! The show was fantastic the last time I saw it, it’s even better now. After the jump, check out some of the photos that I was able to take with some of the castmembers on the show stage after the show was finished last night …

My View Of The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards

To wrap up the day’s coverage of the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, let me share some of my personal photos and experiences from the show last night. As always, the folks at MTV were amazingly good to me and got me a great spot on the red carpet to cover arrivals and then got me access to watch the show in person. The whole night was a lot of fun but I have to confess, I almost missed out on the entire thing!

For some ungodly reason, I was not able to get a cab when I needed to get to Radio City Music Hall and because press check-in cuts off PERIOD at a specific time, I had to scramble to get to the venue on time. I managed to find the right subway line to get me to Radio City and then was forced to run around the block 4 TIMES to find the right press check-in venue. I was told the wrong thing over and over and at the last minute, an amazing intern named Tyler found me and brought me inside … with 2 minutes to spare. Once I got all checked-in, it was smooth sailing for the rest of the night. After the jump, check out some of my photos from the red carpet and a couple from inside the show …

TR talks about the end of Nine Inch Nails and his new beginning
Trent Reznor – The Wave Goodbye Interview

On Thursday evening, I had the great fortune to attend the final Nine Inch Nails live performance at The Wiltern Theater here in Los Angeles, CA. But before Trent Reznor took the stage to perform the last NIN concert, he graciously set aside some time to sit down and grant me a short interview for Pink is the new Blog:

As you may recall, I was able to interview Reznor on the last night of the Lights in the Sky Tour last December in Las Vegas, NV so I was thrilled he was willing to chat with me again on the last night of the Wave Goodbye Tour, the last for Nine Inch Nails. In our 20 minute chat, TR explained how he goes about crafting a setlist for each performance, which live performance in his 20 year touring history stands out most in his mind, his plans for new music outside of Nine Inch Nails and more. After the jump, you can watch my interview with Trent Reznor in full …
