Jennifer Lopez & Enrique Iglesias Rock LA

The TV Guide

Back in April I was THRILLED by the news that Jennifer Lopez was FINALLY hitting the road on her FIRST EVER World Tour and last night, I got to see J. Lo in action here in LA. I missed out on scoring sweet tickets when the show when on sale a couple of months ago but I figured as the date drew closer, I’d be able to find a decent ticket on Stubhub or something. I kept looking for tickets but they were all way too pricey so … I waited. A day before the show, I almost purchased a lower bowl ticket when I decided to see what tickets might be available on Ticketmaster. Long story short, I ended up buying a FRONT ROW ticket for the show totally on accident! Basically, I knew I had a floor seat but I didn’t know until I got there that my seat was right up against the catwalk stage. I had a better seat than music legend Barry Gordy, who was also at the show last night. I honestly had the best time EVER! See some of my amazing photos below and check out a kickass video of J. Lo performing Let’s Get Loud. More »

PITNB Exclusive Interview: Young ‘American Idol’ Alum Haley Reinhart Kicks It To Us Old School

On Good Music, Big Moves, And Mariah Carey...

Haley Reinhart may have been a much-loved contestant on American Idol‘s tenth season (she made it into the top three). And she may be the first A.I. alum to play at the renowned music festival Lollapalooza, which is also kind of a big deal. But these aren’t the most important things about her. And, while she’s got a crazy voice (her bluesy/R&B/country/pop sound is reminiscent is unique, and also slightly reminiscent of Joss Stone) even this isn’t the most exciting thing about her. What surprised me most during our interview was that this young starlet on the rise is deeply involved in all aspects of her music-making, and so intent on building her own name outside of American Idol. We got to chat last week about her new album Listen Up!, upcoming projects, and what it was like growing up in a family of musicians. It was so refreshing to hear a young artist speak with such passion, excitement, and intelligence about her craft. Suffice it to say, this girl’s going places, and she’s not waiting for anyone to take her there. Check out our exclusive interview with Haley Reinhart, inside.

Fiona Apple + Sweet & Tender Hooligans = One Amazing Night

The TV Guide

After enjoying a string of relatively quiet days lately, last night was a big night for me. Not only did I get out of the house to see a concert … but I managed to see 2 full concerts back to back. Impressive, I know. For months, I’ve been looking forward to Fiona Apple‘s return to LA so I’ve been eagerly awaiting her concert stop last night at the Hollywood Palladium. A week ago, I learned that the amazing Morrissey/The Smiths coverband Sweet & Tender Hooligans were playing a show at Vertigos in downtown LA on the same night. I was hoping I’d be able to make both shows … and happily, I did. More »

Marvel Is Planning An ‘Avengers’- Themed Television Show

With No Actual Avengers?

Rumor has it that Marvel has teamed up with ABC to develop a new series that will be set in the Avengers universe. Seeing as how The Avengers pretty much took over the world (and, like, money in general) a spin-off anything is bound to be a good look for the studios… right? But this idea (which is in the very early stages, according to a source at Deadline Hollywood) may have very little to do with The Avengers characters from Joss Whedon‘s blockbuster, but will “be set in the universe and feature some of its themes and feel.” It sounds like the connection to the movie is expected to be light, but the name itself should inspire a strong affiliation for viewers. Deets inside!

Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me

The TV Guide

Last night I drove 100+ miles north to Bakersfield, CA to see the amazing Morrissey in concert and let me tell you … it was a trip WELL worth taking. I got to see Moz last November in Escondido, CA (about 100 miles south of LA) so it was only apropos that I trek 100 miles north to see him this time around. I’ve seen the man in concert many, many times and he never disappoints. The setlist was full of gems, we got to hear some new songs and the man seemed (generally) in fine spirits. Click below to see some of the photos I snapped and check out video of his performances of Alma Matters, How Soon Is Now? and Everyday Is Like Sunday. More »
