Now, I’ve been a HUGE Imogen fan from way back in the day … pre-electronics, pre-Frou Frou, back when it was just her and her piano opening up for Rufus Wainwright. I’ve been fortunate enough to see Immi live in concert many times so I was very excited to be able to see her kick off her latest tour in support of her new album Ellipse. Imogen confessed on Twitter over the weekend that she was feeling a bit under the weather and, very unfortunately, had to cancel her Santa Barbara, CA show on Sunday night. It was touch and go for a while as to whether or not she’d be able to perform in LA last night but she managed to pull off an amazing show. Sure, you could tell that she was having some difficulty hitting those super high notes but she really did sound fantastic thruout the entire show. Any of y’all who have seen Imogen Heap live in concert know that she can be a bit … quirky. She meanders around the stage talking to the audience (and to herself, sometimes in audibly to the crowd) but gets focuses and sure when she sings. She mentioned that the early shows of her tours aren’t always her best because she is still figuring things out … but it’s the quirky “figuring things out” part of the show that makes the live Imogen Heap experience so special. We had a blast … even tho the show ran late into the night and the bunch of us were super tired by the time the show was over …

… especially Josh :) I’m so glad David and I were able to hang out with Emma and Josh again … I think the next time we see them, we’ll make the trek out to the beach to hang on their turf. I understand they like to play Rock Band … HMMMM.

Tonight, David and I are meeting up with Darion to see Precious. I plan on bringing a whole box of Kleenex for the occasion.

The bride was absolutely stunning in her beautiful wedding dress and the groom was lookin’ pretty swanky himself. It is my extreme pleasure to share the beautiful sight of our newly and very happily wedded friends :)

I have been a huge fan of KMFDM for many, many years. They were effing incredible last night. For various reasons, I haven’t been able to see the band perform live for a few years so I was anxious to see them on stage again … I was not disappointed in the least. The new material was awesome but the classic tracks they performed were just KILLER! If you are a fan of KMFDM, this tour is not to be missed. Among my fave songs I got to hear last night was Megalomaniac, Light and Godlike and former KMFDM member Tim Skold came out to perform with the band for the encore! It was just AMAZING!! The band cares so dearly for their fans (Keiner Macht Fur Dich Mehr) … they are worth the devotion.

Quick story: I first saw the band live back in 1995 at Deep Ellum Live in Dallas, TX. There was a problem with the venue because the band had a strict policy about not marking up their t-shirts because they didn’t want to exploit their fans. They sold their shirts for $15 and Deep Ellum wanted to jack up the price to $25 … KMFDM vehemently refused and almost canceled the show. They decided not to sell any merch at the show at all and the concert went off as planned. At the end of the show, they announced that they would be selling merch at a record store down the street for the regular low prices and hung around to sign autographs and take photos with everyone who showed up. From that moment on, I was a devoted fan. I am so happy I was able to see the guys and Lucia live last night … the show was fantastic!! Click HERE to see all the pics I snapped last night.

Today … David and I are running a special errand (which I have to keep secret for another hour or so … watch my Twitter for the reveal) and then tonight we are going to the wedding of a couple of dear friends of ours. It’s going to be an amazingly fabulous day … I can’t wait to enjoy it :)

It worked out very well that David’s brother Aram lives here in San Francisco so we were able to kill two birds with one stone. There are already so many photos, videos, etc. flying around about Kylie’s tour that I am going to try to keep the spoilers at a minimum. I managed to snap TONS of great photos last night. Kylie is known for her amazing on-stage entrances, last night’s was no exception. The show opened with a musical overture and went right into Light Years. Here is video of the last few seconds of her performance:

It was so cool seeing Tom’s name in the Playbill … seeing him on stage was just fantastic. He kills as Franz and I cannot recommend enough that all y’all should see this show NOW! The show was fantastic the last time I saw it, it’s even better now. Yes, I naughtily managed to snap a cameraphone pic of Tom’s first Broadway curtain call … but I couldn’t help it, you only make your Broadway debut once in a lifetime :) It was so great getting to see Kerry again … and meeting the rest of the cast was so much fun, they were all so nice. Rock of Ages is deffo my fave Broadway musical right now. The cast as it is now is MUST SEE, MUST SEE! Even if you’ve seen the show before, see it again … Kerry and Tom make the show even better!

Buffy fanatics may notice that Danny Strong is also featured in one of the photos above … he came out to support his fellow Buffyverse alum Tom Lenk last night. As you can imagine, it was a thrill meeting him as well.

Last night was just so damn fun … I wish I should share it will all y’all. But I promise, if you see this show you’ll know what I’m talking about. SEE THE SHOW!!!

For some ungodly reason, I was not able to get a cab when I needed to get to Radio City Music Hall and because press check-in cuts off PERIOD at a specific time, I had to scramble to get to the venue on time. I managed to find the right subway line to get me to Radio City and then was forced to run around the block 4 TIMES to find the right press check-in venue. I was told the wrong thing over and over and at the last minute, an amazing intern named Tyler found me and brought me inside … with 2 minutes to spare. Once I got all checked-in, it was smooth sailing for the rest of the night. After the jump, check out some of my photos from the red carpet and a couple from inside the show …

To be honest, I had better luck on previous MTV red carpets in the celeb department but everyone I got to talk to was very nice. The weather was perfect and I was situated around really fun people … it was a great night.

The show was really cool to see in person. I was seated in the mezzanine level that came complete with gourmet food and open bars! Yeah, man, that’s the way to watch a show like this. Much, much love goes out to Emily for taking such great care of me. The opening performance was really very cool in person:

I met some fun folks who turned out to be Pink readers — Billy, Hanne and Bill … we all got along so well, the whole experience was just a lot of fun. I kid you not, the auditorium exploded in boos every time Kanye West’s name was mentioned, he was a hated man last night … and rightfully so.

I opted out of the after parties to meet up with David and his friends Marissa, Ben, Shane and Jason at Joe’s Pub for drinks and then late night pizza afterward. It was a great night, the perfect way to get back into the swing of things here in NYC.

As you may recall, I was able to interview Reznor on the last night of the Lights in the Sky Tour last December in Las Vegas, NV so I was thrilled he was willing to chat with me again on the last night of the Wave Goodbye Tour, the last for Nine Inch Nails. In our 20 minute chat, TR explained how he goes about crafting a setlist for each performance, which live performance in his 20 year touring history stands out most in his mind, his plans for new music outside of Nine Inch Nails and more. The theme of the show was Guest Stars because not only did Gary Numan come out to perform with NIN again but so, too, did David Bowie’s pianist Mike Garson, Dillinger Escape Plan frontman Greg Puciato, Jane’s Addiction bandmember Eric Avery and former Nine Inch Nails bandmember Danny Lohner … AND, the show opening band Health even came out to perform on one of the songs (making it seem like there were 45 people on stage) — it was a truly fantastic sight to behold. I was crushed and compacted for more than 4 hours and I loved every second of it. Altho I sweated off 10 gallons of sweat, I prolly absorbed 20 gallons of other people’s sweat … OY! It’s been many, many years since I’ve lasted in a NIN pit … I know for sure I did it on the Further Down the Spiral Tour and then when NIN toured with David Bowie on the Outside Tour but I think I did it at least once, on the rail, during the Fragility 2.0 Tour. To be completely honest, it is the ONLY way to see a NIN show. I was able to take amazing photos but, more importantly, I really felt like part of the show … just a fantastic time. As you might expect, Trent Reznor brought not only a blistering set of songs but also brought out a special guest to perform with NIN on stage … providing a rock solid, raucous show for the audience. As amazing as last night’s intimate show was, I’m very glad that it was not the site of the last NIN show ever. The place is small, yes, but it offers terrible sightlines for most of the people in the venue. I was standing next to the soundboard, maybe 20 feet from the stage and I really couldn’t see much of TR, Robin Finck, Justin Meldal-Johnsen or Ilan Rubin. I’m really looking forward to seeing NIN in the other two upcoming venues (The Henry Fonda Theater on Tuesday, The Wiltern on Thursday) to enjoy a better view of the final two performances.

Last night’s show was, IMHO, superior to the Webster Hall performance primarily because not only did we get TDS in full but we also got a guest performance by Gary Numan, who TR brought on stage for a couple of songs. As an extra added treat, we were given limited edition NIN buttons with our tickets to commemorate last night’s show at the Hollywood Palladium:

Yes, pretty much everything was PERFECT about last night’s concert … A show like this needed no encore so none was performed … midway thru the show, Trent Reznor confessed to the audience that he was not feeling well. It turns out that TR was more ill than he lead us to believe … shortly after last night’s performance was finished, it was announced on NIN.com that tonight’s performance at the Henry Fonda Theater has been canceled due to doctor’s orders. There is no word on the status of the last two NIN shows this weekend (at The Wiltern and The EchoPlex) but I do hope that TR is able to recuperate and feel better. I understand the show tonight is not being rescheduled and refunds will be given instead *may* be rescheduled (according to the marquee at the Henry Fonda Theater, the show will be rescheduled — see photo below).
