Joan Jett, Lou Reed & Green Day Have Been Inducted Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

The Smiths and Nine Inch Nails have not

In early October we learned that two of my favorite bands of all time — The Smiths and Nine Inch Nails — were among the nominees for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and I am saddened and very disappointed to pass along the news today that neither group made the final induction cut into the Rock Hall‘s Class of 2015. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Lou Reed, Ringo Starr and others — including Green Day — have been announced as inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame … which is great news for those acts. I really had my heart set on both (or at least one) The Smiths and NIN getting into the Rock Hall in their first year of eligibility but, alas, it wasn’t meant to be. That said, I am beyond ecstatic that both Joan Jett and Lou Reed are finally in. More »

‘Time’ Magazine Names The Ebola Fighters As The ‘Person Of The Year’

For the past few weeks, speculation has been gearing up as to who would be selected as Time magazine’s Person of the Year as the field of contenders was narrowed to a short list. From politicians to pop stars, from the Ferguson protestors to Apple CEO Tim Cook — it was anyone’s guess as to who would nab the honor this year … until today when Time magazine revealed that they chose the heroic Ebola Fighters as the Person of the Year for 2014. Time reveals that they decided to honor and showcase the Hero’s Heart by selecting the Ebola Fighters as the Person of the Year … which is something that few can find fault with. More »

This years awards ceremony will be held in NYC on December 12 and will include honorees like Aretha Franklin, Charli XCX, Idina Menzel and more. The 2015 Grammy Award Nominations Have Been Released

The nominations for the 2015 Grammy Awards are being announced today via the Grammysofficial Twitter profile and while the very long, very full list of nominees has yet to be announced (because the Grammy folks are spreading out the nomination announcements all day long), some of the biggest award categories have already been announced. Ryan Adams, The Black Keys and Tom Petty are among the artists in contention for Best Rock Album while Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Ed Sheeran are in the running for the Best Pop Vocal Album Grammy. Last week we learned that the song The Hanging Tree, sung by actress Jennifer Lawrence in the new movie The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, has been selling well enough to probably score a debut on Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 Singles chart. Today we learn that J. Law‘s The Hanging Tree did well enough to have it debut in the #12 position on the Billboard singles chart. Back in July we heard rumors that Scarlett Johansson and fiancé Romain Duaric were planning to get married in August before she gave birth to the couple’s first child in September … but the baby came and the couple remained unwed … or so we thought. Today we learn that ScarJo and Romain ended up getting married in secret back in October without anyone being the wiser. HMMM. And how, pray tell, was the couple able to get married without anyone knowing about it? Well, they got married in Montana … which is the place to get married if you don’t want anyone to know about it. One Direction‘s new album Four has debuted atop the Billboard Hot 200 Albums chart in its first week of release, making One Direction the only group in history to have their first four albums debut at #1. As you may recall, Taylor Swift enjoyed a couple weeks of massive album sales and she set a record of her own with the release of 1989 earlier this month but now the torch of music chart success has been handed over to the boys of 1D.
