Sam is now the FIRST openly gay player in the NFL
Back in February, University of Missouri football player Michael Sam came out publicly as gay a full 3 months before the NFL Draft was to take place this weekend. Just a short time ago, Sam was selected by the St. Louis Rams to play professional football for their team … making Michael Sam the first openly gay player in the National Football League. In celebration of his draft pick, Michael did what any other professional athlete would do as soon as he heard the good news … he was first overcome by raw emotion and then happily kissed his partner live on ESPN. Click the video above to see the emotional moment when Sam got the good news and see the sweet kiss he shared with his boyfriend Vito Cammisano. Happy news coming out of the Natural State today … a circuit court judge has ruled that the state’s ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional! Because a stay was not issued along with this ruling, same-sex couples have been getting marriage licenses all morning long today. The state’s attorney general has announced that he plans to appeal the ruling but, for now, marriage equality has come to the state of Arkansas. Wow. More »

Last night an unconfirmed report starting making the rounds that Apple was nearing a deal to purchase the Beats Electronics company (which includes the Beats by Dre line of headphones, speakers and its streaming music service), founded by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, for $3.2 billion dollars. At this point, news of the sale has NOT been officially confirmed by either Beats Music or Apple … but Dre has all but confirmed the sale in a video selfie he posted online. Dre spent part of his night last night celebrating with friends, like Tyrese Gibson, and happily proclaimed himself “the first billionaire in Hip-Hop”, which seems to imply that the Beats sale to Apple is all but a done deal (it should be noted that Dre‘s stake in his company is only about 20-25%, so at best he’ll get around $800 million — not quite a billion but he would become the richest person in Hip-Hop). Wow. Click the video above to see Dr. Dre‘s video confirmation that he has just become the richest mogul in Hip-Hop.
It was handled ... weeks ago
Congratulations WERE in order for Kerry Washington about 2 weeks ago when she birthed her baby in secret without even telling us about it … boo. Today we learn that Kerry and hubby Nnamdi Asomugha welcomed the birth of a baby girl they named Isabelle Amarachi on April 21. You know, I’ve been thinking about Kerry and her baby bump everyday for about the past month, waiting for the news that she finally gave birth. About a week ago, I assumed that she had given birth and was keeping it a secret for as long as she could … turns out I was right. More »
Neil Patrick Harris FTW!
The nominations for the 2014 Tony Awards were announced in NYC a short time ago and the musical productions Hedwig and the Angry Inch and A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder lead the way with the most nominations this year (Hedwig nabbed 8 noms, Gentlemen’s Guide nabbed 10 noms). Hedwig star Neil Patrick Harris, unsurprisingly, garnered a Tony nom for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical and, IMHO, is the person to beat for the award. Other stars like Bryan Cranston, Idina Menzel and Cherry Jones as well as other productions like Aladdin, Les Miserablés and Twelfth Night managed to score Tony noms today as well. The ladies said 'I Do' last weekend
Congratulations are in order for actress Jodie Foster and Alexandra Hedison because today we learn that the couple are no married! E! News is reporting that Jodie and Alexandra got hitched in a quiet ceremony last weekend after they got together last summer. The very private couple haven’t really been seen together in public all that often over the past few months, so news of their surprise nuptials might come as a bit of a shock to some. You may recall that Jodie only came out publicly as gay in January of 2013 so it’s nice to see that she’s found new love with a wife not too long after her announcement. More »
