Last night I made my way to The Wiltern to see punk/rock/pop/music legend Billy Idol live in concert. I’ve been a fan of Billy‘s since forever … from the early ’80s when he was in his band Generation X and then throughout his solo career reaching into the ’90s. I’ve been hearing really great things about his most recent tour and I knew I had to see him in concert. His two-night stint in LA sold out really quickly so I was lucky to even get a ticket in the first place. I am very happy to say that Billy Idol put on an amazing show, from start to finish, he was really, really great. More »

"Another senseless act of violence"
Nicki Minaj took to social media just a short time ago to reveal that two members of her tour road crew were stabbed in an altercation in Philadelphia, PA last night. While one of the men remains in critical condition, the other man died as a result of his injuries. Nicki shared the info on her official Twitter profile and paid tribute to the men — De’Von Day Day Pickett and Eric Parker — on her official Instagram profile. According to reports, the stabbing took place at a bar and grill in the wee hours this morning. The men had only been in town for two days prior to begin rehearsals for Nicki‘s upcoming European concert tour. Ugh, just sad and completely senseless. More »

Lots to update today … last night, at long last — after many, many years of waiting — I finally got to see Vanessa Williams live in concert. I’ve been a fan of Vanessa since the early 90s and have always wanted to see her in concert. Because I’m staying in Anaheim, CA this weekend for the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland, I have a room here for the weekend. So after I ran the Star Wars 5K in the morning, I had to drive north all the way into the valley to see Vanessa in concert at California State University Northridge. THEN I had to drive all the way back down to Anaheim so that I could run the Star Wars 10K this morning. So busy but so fun. More »

Last night I made a return trip to The Wiltern Theater to see Ryan Adams perform the last show of his 2014 tour. Last night was the 4th show I saw in the past month and it was one of the best. From the start, I could tell the show was going to be a special one. Ryan was just so “on” that I was so glad I decided to see the show last night. Last night’s setlist included two of my fave Ryan Adams songs … including his brilliant cover of the Oasis song Wonderwall (a song he hasn’t performed live in some time). Ugh, so good. Click below to see some photos and watch video of Ryan‘s performance last night of LaCienega Just Smiled and Wonderwall. More »
"This is my first world tour ever"
Jennifer Lopez has a treat for fans this New Year’s Eve night because that is the night she will release her new documentary film about her Dance Again World Tour. J. Lo toured the world for the first time and she brought along cameras to catch all the most important parts. I’m guessing she was going for a Madonna: Truth or Dare sort of thing but my guess is that it won’t be quite that exciting. Still, I’m sure this doc will be a must see for Jennifer Lopez fans around the world. Set your DVR now because Dance Again: World Tour will premiere on HBO on 12.31.14 at 9PM.

So, last night I made my way to The Wiltern for what I thought was going to be my last concert of the year but it turns out that I actually attended the first to TWO Ryan Adams concerts … which follow recent Ryan Adams shows that I saw in Pomona, CA and Northridge, CA. I managed to get a pit ticket for last night’s show so I was very excited to be up close and personal with Mr. Adams. For the most part, the show was really great … but after the PA system blew, the show had to be cut short early and, well, I can’t go for that. I managed to procure another pair of pit tickets for tonight’s second show at The Wiltern, Ryan‘s last of the tour, for my friend Josh Rosebrook and I so … last night was merely a prelude to tonight :) More »
BFFs together again
Over the weekend, Justin Timberlake and Jay Z helped Taylor Swift celebrate her 25th birthday at her star-studded party in NYC. Last night, JT played a show at Barclay Center in Brooklyn, NY and wouldn’t you know it … he brought out his BFF Jay to perform on stage with him during the concert performance. Justin provides guest vocals on Jay‘s song Holy Grail but Jay came out as the guest performer during Timberlake‘s show last night so … it was nothing but love all the way around. Click the embed above to watch Jay and Justin perform their song Holy Grail together in front of a massive audience of screaming and ecstatic fans and see what you missed by not being there in person last night.

A few days ago, I was reminded that I had signed up a few weeks ago for the Holiday Half Marathon 5K race and when my alarm went off this morning, I was really reminded that the time had come to run the race. I was hoping to squeeze in at least one more race before the year was over and thankfully, this 5K race fit the bill. I was originally planning to run the full half marathon but in the ended, I decided a 5K was good enough so … earlier today, I ran one of my fastest 5Ks to round out a year of races for 2014. More »

Last night I met up with my dear friend Eileen so that we could make our way to Pamona, CA to see Ryan Adams and Jenny Lewis live in concert. I was lucky enough to see Ryan in concert in early October and I have two more Ryan shows in my near future but last night’s performance was really freaking fun. After Ryan and Jenny sufficiently rocked our asses, Eileen and I made our way home to LA … and then I met up with my friend Stacey for an even later concert performance by Mereki at an afterhours place called Overpass. It was a VERY long night/morning but a very fun night/morning as well. More »
