Last night Eileen invited me to join her to see Ray LaMontagne in concert, which was really fun, but beforehand we did a bit of Cinco de Mayo celebrating over margaritas at El Compadre in Hollywood. I’m not all too familiar with Ray LaMontagne but I like some of his stuff so I was really looking forward to see him in concert. Dinner was really great because we managed to beat the rush of revelers and enjoy our meal and drinks without feeling rushed. Date night with Eileen was so fun, I’m glad that she’s back from her Parisian excursion. More »

A year ago, my friend Jen and I made our way to the El Rey Theater to see the Swedish death metal band Ghost live in concert. Last night, I met up with Jen, her husband Johan and our friend Stacey at the Fonda Theatre to see Ghost live in concert once again. Last night’s show at the Fonda has been sold out for months and it seemed unlikely that I’d get to see them this time around. On a lark, I checked the Fonda website and clicked on the SOLD OUT link to see if day of show tickets had been released and miracle of miracles, I managed to score a ticket. Ghost put one one Hell of a show last night so I’m so happy that I was able to attend. More »

The Dandy Warhols played the first of two shows at The Roxy in West Hollywood, CA last night and I was lucky enough to attend the show. I heard that the band was coming to town a few months ago and made sure to snag tix as soon as they went on sale because I knew they would easily sell out such a tiny venue. I first saw the Dandys at a Detroit show in the mid-90′s and then again in the early 00′s. Their song I Never Thought You’d Be a Junkie (Because Heroin is So Passé) was a very important song to my friend Tammy and me so I was really hoping they’d perform the song last night. Unfortch, they did not … but the band did play a bunch of other great songs and put on a really fantastic show over all. More »

"Europe is still on"
Last week we learned that due to her extended hospitalization, Miley Cyrus was forced to postpone the remaining dates on her US tour until later this year. Today we learn that Miley has finally been released from the hospital so that she can recuperate a bit more at home before she kicks off the European leg of her BANGERZ Tour. As you may recall, Miley was hospitalized earlier this month due to an allergic reaction to antibiotics and was so ill that she had to be hospitalized for a few weeks. At last, tho, she is finally well enough to go home. More »
It looks like the 'Mr. & Mrs. Carter' Show is really happening
A week ago today we heard the VERY EXCITING report that Beyoncé and Jay Z are planning to go on a joint stadium tour later this year and altho the pair have yet to formally confirm the news, we learn today that B-Jay successfully lobbied the city of Pasadena, CA to play a joint concert at the Rose Bowl in August. Shows at the Rose Bowl require approval by the city of Pasadena when the limit of concerts per year is exceeded. The Rose Bowl is already overbooked for shows in 2014 so Beyoncé and Jay Z had to ask special permission to play there this year. The great news is that they’ve been approved … which seems to be a STRONG indication that the so-called Mr. & Mrs. Carter Show Stadium Tour is deffo going to happen. More »

Last night I made my way out to the beautiful Orpheum Theater in DTLA to see Rufus Wainwright in concert. I’ve been a big Rufus fan from the beginning, way back when he released his self-titled debut album in 1998. My first boyfriend and I saw Rufus many times on his first tour and I’ve since seen him in concert with a few different friends throughout the 00′s. The last time I saw him, he played The Greek Theater here in LA. Last night’s performance was just as fun as I remembered his shows to be. More »
