Remember back in February when we heard rumors that Steve Perry might be ready to stage a comeback and reunite with his old band Journey? Well, thus far, nothing has come from any of that talk … BUT over the weekend, Perry appeared on stage during a concert performance by The Eels to perform a pair of Journey songs LIVE for the first time in about 20 years. I’m not really sure why Steve showed up to perform at this particular show, and with The Eels of all people, but perform he did. Steve sang The Eels song It’s a Motherfucker to warm up his vocal chords and then performed the Journey songs Open Arms and Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’ for the sold out Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, MN (capacity 1000). People, this video is a MUST SEE. Steve still sounds amazing. That voice! OMG. I’m not sure what this performance means … if it was a one-off performance out of the blue then I am SO bummed I couldn’t witness this in person. BUT, if this is a sign that Steve Perry is ready to return to the performance stage then I may just lose my mind and freak out from happiness. Enjoy this video. I plan on watching and rewatching it for a few hours :D
Morrissey is surely spinning in his future grave
A few days ago we got to see video of Miley Cyrus and The Flaming Lips performing a cover of the Beatles classic Lucy In The Sky with Diamonds. Today, we get to see video of Miley‘s solo cover performance of the also classic song There Is A Light that Never Goes Out by The Smiths. Miley‘s homage to The Smiths took place in Belfast last night … and I’m certain that Morrissey suffered a few heart attacks and a stroke or two when he found out. Click below to hear Miley‘s rendition of this legendary song by The Smiths and see what you think. More »
Back in March we learned that Miley Cyrus teamed up with Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips to record a cover of the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Last night, during her concert stop in Manchester, England, Miley and The Flaming Lips performed Lucy in front of her screaming audience of fans. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to make of the news that Miley would be covering the Beatles but after hearing this performance … I guess I’m kind of impressed. I’d have to hear the studio version to make a better determination but this live performance turned out pretty sweet. Check out the video above and see what you think of Miley and The Lips‘s cover of this Beatles classic.

Last night I had the pleasure of attending one of the best concerts I’ve seen since living in LA when I made my way to the LA Sports Arena to see Morrissey and Tom Jones perform LIVE on the same stage. Morrissey has just kicked off his new US tour and will be visiting cities across America with his usual opening act Kristeen Young. BUT, because Moz loves LA so much, he invited Sir Tom Jones to perform with him … which made for the coolest double bill I’ve seen in a very long time. Tom wooed the crowd with his amazing set and then Morrissey murdered the place with his set. I was in the thick of it all … loving every second of it. More »

Back in March, Lady Gaga garnered a lot of attention when she invited performance artist Mille Brown to “puke” green paint on her during her performance at the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX. It would appear that pop star Katy Perry is among the folks who paid MOST attention to Gaga and Millie‘s performance because she decided to incorporate the puking of green paint into her just-launched Prismatic World Tour show. HMMM. Have a look below at the dueling puking pop stars and see if it all looks familiar to you. More »

After a bit of drama before his show last night, Morrissey put on a really fantastic concert for the sold out house at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA. I was lucky enough to snag a coveted ticket for this tiny club show and happily made my way down to The OC to see Moz‘s second show of his new 2014 tour. As expected, Morrissey performed 3 new songs from his forthcoming new album World Peace is None of Your Business along with a nice collection of songs from both his days in The Smiths and from his solo albums. Click below to see some photos that I snapped at the show and watch a neat “mariachi version” of his song First of the Gang to Die. More »
It’s no secret that Harry Styles of One Direction loves tattoos … in fact, he’s giving Justin Bieber a run for his money for the title of most-tattooed pop star. During One Direction‘s concert performance at Parque Olímpico in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this week, Harry was moved to show off one of his newest tattoos to the assembled audience. Harry got the word “Brasil” tattooed on his upper thigh, very near his groin area and, therefore, had to unzip and pull down his pants a bit to show off the tattoo. As I’m sure you can imagine, his fans went wild at the first unzipping of his pants. An industrious fan managed to get video of Harry‘s tattoo revelation … which you can see in full below. More »
"Morrissey is currently trying to have our ... show ... cancelled"
Oh man … here comes a bit of seriously shitty drama. Morrissey is scheduled to play a show in Santa Ana, CA tonight at The Observatory in front of a sold out house. The venue has a second, smaller room where a second concert typically takes place at the same time as the larger show — completely separate, without any interference to either show. The band members of PAWS, who are scheduled to play The Constellation Room with We Are Scientists tonight inside The Observatory venue, have posted a notice on their Facebook page that Morrissey is trying to get the venue to cancel their booking because he does not want another concert happening while he plays his own concert. I love Moz but, yeah, this is pretty shitty on his part. More »

'World Peace', 'Bullfighter' and 'Earth is the Loneliest' - LIVE!
Morrissey kicked off his new tour in San Jose, CA last night at the City National Civic Auditorium in front of a sold out house of rabid fans and, as expected, he debuted a few new songs from his forthcoming new album World Peace is None of Your Business (which is due out in late June/early July). Interspersed among his earlier solo songs as well as a few songs by The Smiths, Moz debuted the new songs World Peace is None of Your Business, The Bullfighter Dies and Earth is the Loneliest Planet. Click below to watch video of Morrissey performing these songs and get your first listen of this new era of music and see how a group of overeager fans forced the abrupt early ending of the show when they rushed the stage and forced Morrissey off the stage.
