Watch: Janet Jackson Releases Video From The ‘Unbreakable’ World Tour Dancer Auditions

"Auditioning for Janet feels like a dream fantasy"

Earlier today we learned that Janet Jackson has formally announced that her Unbreakable World Tour will kick off in August of this year and the first round of concert dates went on pre-sale at 10AM local time today. Right now, we get to see video that was filmed over the course of dancer auditions for The Unbreakable Tour. You may recall that we saw that cute photo of Janet making her way into dance rehearsals for her tour at the end of May, so this video was probably filmed around that time. Click below and have a look and see some of the faces we may be seeing on tour with Janet Jackson later this year. More »

The Bang-Gos

The TV Guide

After I saw the original members of L7 perform their first concert in 18 years at the Echo on Thursday night, I had a hard time imagining a show that could outdo their blistering performance. Last night, I saw The Bangles live in concert at the Troubadour in West Hollywood and can honestly say that the show was just as amazing as the L7 show but for vastly different reasons. The Bangles are touring without original bassist Michael Steele which was a bummer to me … until they brought out Kathy Valentine of The Go Gos to play on stage with them. I mean … The Bangles and a Go Go together on one stage? I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I managed to get some photos and video of the performances of Walk Like an Egyptian and Eternal Flame, which you can see below. I have a feeling you will enjoy. More »

Smell The Magic Again

The TV Guide

Last night was a busy night for me. Yesterday was Darion’s birthday and while the big celebration is yet to come on Saturday night, he gathered together a small group of friends for dinner at Connie & Ted’s in West Hollywood, CA. Dinner was really great because I got to see a few friends I hadn’t seen in a while and, of course, because we all got to celebrate Darion’s birth. After dinner, I made my way to the Echo in Echo Park to see L7 perform a super tiny pre-tour warm up concert and OMG were they amazing. Last night was seriously one of the best nights I’ve enjoyed in a while. More »

Courtney Love Was Majestic In Ventura, CA

The TV Guide

Last night I made my way up to Ventura, CA to see Courtney Love live in concert at the Majestic Theater. The night before, she performed in concert with Lana Del Rey at the Hollywood Bowl but since I saw LDR play the Hollywood Forever Cemetery last October and I doubt any LDR concert ever will surpass that show, I decided to take a pass and just see Courtney by herself in a much more intimate setting. C. Love has been sober for the past few years and its shown in her life performances. Her concert last night was so fun. She sounded great, she looked great and thank ye gods, she appeared stone cold sober and coherent! More »

Watch: Ryan Adams Performed ‘Summer Of ’69′ By Bryan Adams For The First Time In Concert

B/Ryan Adams
Ryan does Bryan at last

Over 12 years ago, Ryan Adams famously ejected a fan from a concert performance in Nashville, TN after the fan repeatedly screamed out for Adams to perform Summer of ’69 by Bryan Adams. At the time, Ryan would get unreasonably angry whenever anyone would request a Bryan Adams song and the lesson was learned by fans — who didn’t want to suffer the consequences of his anger — never to scream out requests for Ryan to perform Bryan Adams songs. Last night, in Nashville, TN, Ryan performed in full for the first time ever Bryan‘s Summer of ’69. Last year, I saw Ryan in concert in Santa Barbara, CA and it was at that show that Ryan performed the Bryan Adams song Run To You which was, to my knowledge, the first time Ryan ever performed a Bryan Adams song in concert. Now that he’s performed Summer of ’69 at long last, it would appear that his ban on covering Bryan Adams songs is finally over. Click the embed above to watch Ryan sing Bryan‘s song and bear witness to history being made.

The Dead Milkmen Rock WeHo

The TV Guide

My plans to get out of the house and get down to Anaheim yesterday were put on hold due to an emergency involved a pair of very dear friends of mine. Without getting into specifics, I just felt that there was no way I could spend my day at Disneyland while I wondered how things would turn out. I did get out of the house last night, tho, because I had almost forgotten that I had tickets to see The Dead Milkmen in concert at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA. I bought the tix for the Milkmen back in December and thankfully Twitter reminded me that the show was last night. I was able to get ready and get out to WeHo in time to see my first Dead Milkmen show ever. More »

A Night Out With The Girls

The TV Guide

Last night I met up with my friends Ollie and Amelia for a fun little hang in DTLA where we grabbed dinner then saw a show. Because we are such big fans of her music and because I was really impressed when I saw her in concert a couple of years ago, we were all very excited to see Azealia Banks in concert at Club Nokia at LA Live. Believe me, I am not a fan of many of the things that Banks says in interviews or on social media but her music is really amazing and her live performances are absolute fire. She was amazing last night, like truly, so I’m glad that we got to see her in concert together. More »

Mac Sabbath Slays, Chvrches Rules

The TV Guide

Last night, I finally got to see the LA cover band Mac Sabbath live in concert and I am very happy to report that it was truly one of the most fun concerts I’d been to in a very long time. Mac Sabbath is a Black Sabbath cover band that dresses as demonic McDonald’s characters. They play up the McD’s theme very well in the look and feel of their shows and even change the lyrics to Black Sabbath songs to make them even better. I went to the show with my friend Eileen and her new man Kevin. Afterward, I hightailed it back to Hollywood to see Chvrches play a late night DJ set at Sound Nightclub … which kept me out until 3AM. Ugh. It was a long but very fun night. More »
