The TV Guide
On Friday night, I traveled back to 1987 to see Dokken in concert. Last night, I traveled back to 1997 to see Orgy. I used to love Orgy back in the day when I was still really into industrial music but kinda dabbling a bit into more electronic, EDM music in the late ’90s. Orgy was the perfect mix of industrial dance music and their hit cover of Blue Monday (by New Order) really made me a fan. I saw that they were playing a small show at the Whisky A Go Go on Sunset so I decided to check ‘em out. I’m happy to report that the show was much better than I thought it would be. The place was packed, the band was pretty on point and I got to enjoy a night of music that I had forgotten I used to really love once upon a time. More »

Last night I traveled back to 1987 so see Dokken play a rock show at the Whisky A Go Go on the famed Sunset Strip and I had a pretty fun ass time. Any kid who grew up in the ’80s has fond memories of the hey day of hair metal and any self-respecting ’80s kid has to count themselves as a Dokken fan, no question. Dokken was already a big metal band for most of the decade but when they did the song Dream Warriors from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 their popularity shot them into the stratosphere. I must admit, I kinda only went to the show last night to hear Dokken perform Dream Warriors at the Whisky but I was very pleasantly surprised by how well Don Dokken sounded and looked on that stage. He put on a helluva show last night. More »

Zayn Malik‘s publicist announced today that he will be quitting the One Direction tour immediately so that he can fly back home to the UK and deal with “stress”. This announcement comes shortly after photos surfaced of Zayn looking awfully close to a young woman that is NOT his fiancée Perrie Edwards. Putting 2 + 2 together, it would appear that the stress that Zayn is suffering might be stemming from the grief those photos are causing him … and his fiancée. Yikes! Last night I made my way to The Roxy on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, CA to see the Juliana Hatfield Three live in concert for the first time ever. As a long time Juliana fan, I have seen her many, many times on tour with my first concert going back to 1995. But when she was called the Juliana Hatfield Three (along with bandmates Todd Philips and Dean Fisher), I wasn’t yet going to rock concerts so I missed out on seeing the group way back then. Last night, the band performed their 1993 debut album Become What You Are In Full with an encore of his Juliana solo songs and it was only the best show ever. More »
Meet Natalie Sass
A couple of days ago, we saw video of Ryan Adams performing a cover of the Patrick Swayze song She’s Like the Wind live in concert with his opening act Natalie Prass. Today, Natalie was unable to make Ryan‘s show in Copenhagen due to travel woes so Ryan decided to perform her opening gig for her as Natalie Sass … in a dress. Click the embed above to watch Ryan Adams perform Natalie Prass‘s song Bird of Prey. Not only does he look great but he sounds divine, as usual. I just love him.
Is she too young to perform?
A couple of weeks ago, Madonna took a bit of a tumble while she performed on stage at the 2015 BRIT Awards in London, England … which sparked, as you may recall, a bit of discussion over Madonna‘s age with the implication that she is “too old” to perform on stage. This weekend, 21-year old Ariana Grande took a bit of a tumble herself while she performed in Toronto, Ontario on her concert stop there for her Honeymoon Tour. Click below to watch video of Ari‘s fall and prepare yourselves for the barrage of comments about how Ariana must be too young to perform on stage because of this fall. More »

Sheer and Utter Perfection
Ryan Adams is currently on tour in Europe right now and this week he played a show in Cork, Ireland. During his set, Ryan brought singer Natalie Prass on stage to perform a duet of the Patrick Swayze song She’s Like The Wind, from the 1988 motion picture soundtrack to Dirty Dancing. Even tho I’ve only just recently watched Dirty Dancing for the first time ever, I’ve been a fan of She’s Like The Wind for decades now. To hear Ryan and Natalie give the song new life with this brilliant cover is just … too much. Ryan Adams has been known to perform really stellar covers in concert before and this one is no exception. Please enjoy.
