Watch: Tori Amos Performed A Cover Of ‘I Touch Myself’ By The Divinyls In Melbourne, Australia

"I don't want anybody else"
"I love myself, I want you to love me"

Tori Amos has made her way down to Australia for a new concert tour there and over the weekend, she performed in Melbourne. During the Lizard Lounge portion of her show, she covered the 1991 song I Touch Myself by The Divinyls. Divinyls singer Chrissy Amphlett passed away in April of last year and, as you can hear above, Tori dedicated her performance to her memory. I love the song, I love Tori and I think you will love this performance.

Patty Griffin Blesses LA With A Beautiful Concert Performance

The TV Guide

Last night I attended a concert at The Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian in Koreatown that hosted the one and only Patty Griffin. I don’t think I’ve ever talked about Patty on the blog because the last time I saw her in concert was before the blog was even a thing over 10 years ago. Patty and I go waaay back. I found out she was playing a show here in LA and the timing worked out so I knew I had to attend. Because it had been many years since I’d seen her, I am not all that familiar with her most recent music but she put on a performance last night that was so gloriously beautiful, it was as if no time had passed at all. Marilyn Manson In Santa Ana

The TV Guide

Last night I made my way down to Santa Ana, CA to see Marilyn Manson in concert at The Observatory to kick off my Hallowe’en weekend. MM is playing a string of shows here in SoCal this weekend but because I’m leaving for NYC in a few hours, last night’s show in Santa Ana was the only one I would be in town to attend. I haven’t been impressed with MM shows in many years but I keep going to his concerts in the hopes that he will wow me a bit … or at least remind me of the good ol’ days back in the ’90s when Marilyn Manson was a great live act. I can’t say that last night’s show was one of his better ones … but I can say that I was glad that I went. More »

Watch: Here Is Video Of Kelly Clarkson Singing ‘Shake It Off’ By Taylor Swift As A Gospel Song

Hallelujah
"C'mon Jesus, help me"

Only EVERYBODY is loving Taylor Swift right now. Her new album 1989 was officially released at midnight last night (after it leaked online in full over the weekend) so pretty much everyone on earth is geeking out on new Taylor Swift songs right now. Over the weekend, Kelly Clarkson performed a show where she busted out a gospel song-inspired arrangement of Shake It Off that truly takes the infectious pop song to C-H-U-R-C-H. This is an impresive cover … and it just may save your soul. Enjoy.

The ‘Nightmare’ Before Charli

The TV Guide

Last night was very full, very fun night for me. In the early evening, I met up with my friend Eileen for a showing of The Nightmare Before Christmas in 4D at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, CA and then I met up with my friend Amelia so that we could make our way downtown to The Mayan to see Charli XCX in concert. Both events were crazy fun in very different ways. It had been many years since I’ve seen Nightmare and it’s been 20 years since I’ve seen it in a movie theater … so I had forgotten how really great the movie is. Charli‘s show last night was much bigger than her last show here in LA at the El Rey. I ran into a bunch of friends at the show and we had the best night ever!! More »

2 Concerts, 1 Night

The TV Guide

Last night was a pretty busy, very fun night for me. After I ran around taking care of a couple of errands, I made my way to the Hotel Café to see All American Rejects play an intimate acoustic show that featured hit after hit song. After the AAR show was over, I hightailed it over to Echo Park to see Fever The Ghost play their first headline show here in LA at The Echo with my friend Amelia. The two shows were very different but were both very fun experiences. More »

AAR Acoustic

The TV Guide

After a quiet night in last night, I’m ready to go back out into the world today. A few weeks ago, I snagged tickets to see All American Rejects play the first of a series of acoustic concerts at the Hotel Café in Hollywood, CA and tonight’s the night. I’ve been a fan of the power pop stylings of these Oklahoma City boys since they made their debut in the early ’00s and I’m excited to see them play an acoustic show tonight. It shall be a blast. Lana Forever

The TV Guide

Last night I attended the first of two Lana Del Rey concerts at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and I am happy to report that it was a practically perfect show in every single way. The last time I saw LDR, she played a show last spring in the truly awful Shrine Auditorium and while I enjoyed her performance, the always terrible venue was enough to mar the experience. LDR in a cemetery is the way life is supposed to be. My only complaint about the show was how short it was … but for the time that Lana was on stage doing her thing, the night was pure bliss. More »
