Early last year, during a much happier time in my life, I was able to see Björk perform live in concert her newest album Biophilia at the New York Hall of Science in Queens, NY. Last night, at long last, Björk brought her tour to LA. Last night’s performance was the first of 3 shows that Björk has planned for LA … two shows at the Hollywood Palladium (this week) and one at the Hollywood Bowl (next week). I was fortunate enough to get tix to all 3 shows because these are the last shows of the tour … and Björk is likely to go back to Iceland for a number of years. Her performance last night was just as electric as the show I saw back in NYC. It really felt like a privilege to see her live again. More »

For the first time in far too many weeks, I’m very ashamed to admit, I finally got my butt outside to go for a run. With the San Francisco Marathon looming in a couple of weeks (YIKES!) I realized that time was running out for me to remind my body that it needs to run for a very long distance for a very long time. OY. After my run, I rested up a bit before I met up with some friends at the Fonda Theater to see Chvrches live in concert. I’m a newer fan of the band but man, I am so glad I saw them live last night … they were really great. I snapped some photos and video of the show, check it out below. More »
So now that we can be FAIRLY certain that wine-drinking Beyoncé is not (yet) pregnant with her second child, we can go back to focusing on her NEW MUSIC instead. As you may recall, we learned yesterday (sorta) from Beyoncé herself that she won’t be releasing her new album until November (boo) but that doesn’t meant that we have to wait that long to hear some of the songs that will likely appear on that album (yay). Last night, during a concert stop in Antwerp, Belgium, Bey performed in full a new track titled Standing on the Sun. A portion of this song was previously featured in Beyoncé‘s commercial for H&M but last night’s performance was the first time the song was “released” in full. Check out the embed above to watch/hear the song in full. Thus far, Bey has added the new songs Standing on the Sun, Grown Woman (which has leaked in full studio version online) and Epic (from the soundtrack of the animated film of the same name, in which she stars as an animated character) and it’s very likely she will add more new songs to her setlist as the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour continues on its way. As for this new song, what do y’all think? Do we like?
And She Was NOT Happy About It
Whoops! It looks like Beyoncé is, in fact, too bootylicious to for some folks to handle cuz last night during a concert stop on her Mrs. Carter World Tour in Copenhagen, an overzealous male fan reached up and slapped the singer on the butt as she walked by. As you can kinda see in the video above (admittedly, the video is grainy and was filmed from afar), Bey was up close and personal with fans last night as she sang her hit song Irreplaceable … and that’s when the overeager fan got MUCH too close and personal for Beyoncé‘s liking. She actually went back to the fan and warned him that she might get him escorted out for touching her. Folks, please don’t touch the Beyoncé.

Yesterday was a pretty bizzy day for me … I spent part of my evening watching the Detroit Red Wings defeat the Chicago Blackhawks, then I “ran into” the very same metal sign that Kanye West bashed his head on earlier this month, then I got my haircut, then I made my way out to Glendale, CA to see Hanzel und Gretyl live in concert. It was a late night for me but it turned out to be hella fun. More »

In celebration of Morrissey‘s birthday yesterday the LA-based Smiths/Morrissey tribute band Sweet and Tender Hooligans performed in concert last night at The Fonda Theater in celebration. Each year, no matter what day of the week May 22 falls on, the Hooligans perform a birthday show where a portion of the proceeds of ticket sales are donated to a local animal shelter (as a gift to animal activist Morrissey). I’m a pretty fond of Sweet and Tender Hooligans so I made my way out to the show last night … and had a blast! More »
It's All Going Down In Brooklyn
We all knew that Beyoncé‘s Mrs. Carter Show world tour was going to be a huge deal, but I’m not sure we were prepared for all of the madness surrounding these concerts. We’ve had nipple costume drama, postponed performances that then fueled pregnancy rumors, and now we’ve got the return of Lady Gaga! Many of you may remember that Gaga suffered a severe hip injury earlier this year, and was forced to cancel the remainder of her Born This Way Ball world tour. Now we’re hearing reports that her first performance following her recovery will be during Beyoncé‘s NYC show at the Barclays Center. Jay-Z and Kanye West are expected to hit the stage, which means this show is gonna be completely insane! Click inside for more!

Last night I made my way out to The Troubadour to see the amazing Holy Ghost! live in concert. I first saw the band live way back in 2011 and I was really impressed with that performance. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the band’s release of their sophomore album, which is due out this Fall, but a concert performance was good enough to sate my anticipation. The Troubadour is probably my favorite venue here in LA so, yeah, I had a great time last night. More »

A Bumpless Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
Earlier this week E! News reported that, according to sources, Beyoncé Knowles is pregnant with her second child with husband Jay-Z. Since that report came out, Bey has stayed completely silent on the chatter … save for a kindasorta comment that she posted online and then yanked off soon after. Last night in Milan, Italy, Beyoncé took to the stage and did not seem to be sporting a baby bump of any kind … she even posted a photo on her official Instagram profile that seemed to refute the pregnancy rumors … but still, neither she nor Jay have issued either a confirmation or a denial of the pregnancy rumor. HMM. Click below and see a few photos of Bey on stage in Milan last night … does she look pregs to you? More »
Last week we learned that EPIX is planning to air Madonna‘s MDNA World Tour show on their network next month and today we get our first look at the first video teaser for the broadcast. The clip is short but sweet. If you saw the show, you’ll recognize some of the best parts of the show … if you haven’t seen the show, you’re gonna wanna tune in to EPIX on June 22. Maddy‘s MDNA show was pretty damn good, I’m actually looking forward to watching it all over again :D
