The ubiquitous song Let It Go from Disney‘s monster hit movie Frozen is inescapable, it would seem. You go to the mall, you hear the song. You go to a restaurant, you hear the song. You go to church, chances are you may possible hear the song (but in a religiousifed manner, I would assume). The one place might expect to be safe from hearing the song is at a Pearl Jam concert … but notsofast. Pearl Jam, inexplicably, performed Let It Go live in concert in Milan, Italy this weekend because … well, I don’t know why … they just did. Click the embed above to hear a snippet of their performance and marvel at how far the kings of the Grunge Music era have come.
Fun with B-Jay
Remember last month when Beyoncé and Jay Z released that star-studded fake movie trailer that featured guest appearances by folks like Jake Gyllenhaal, Blake Lively, Rashida Jones, Emmy Rossum and others that will likely be used to promote the couple’s upcoming On The Run Tour later this year? Well, today we get to see a slew of behind the scenes photos that were snapped on the set of the fictional movie trailer. The photos are fun and many of the celebs that star in the trailer are featured as well so … have a look around, won’t you?
LOL... That sounds about right.
Miss New Classic AKA Iggy Azalea is a fangirl just like the rest of us. My thing about Jennifer Lopez is that—through her own natural awesomeness and/or her resources as a celebrity— she refuses to age. It’s very distracting! So I wasn’t surprised to see Iggy Azalea taking to Instagram to obsess over JLo. The two performed in Chicago the other night and it looks like they had a great time. Click inside for some video footage Iggy shared on Instagram!
He blames Kristeen Young for getting him sick, She denies the claim
Early last month Morrissey kicked off a new US tour in support of the forthcoming release of his new album World Peace is None of Your Business. I was lucky enough to see Morrissey perform live in Santa Ana and in Los Angeles, CA a few weeks ago and was looking forward to seeing him a third time this coming weekend in Flint, MI. Unfortunately, I will not be seeing Moz in concert this weekend because last night he cancelled the remaining dates of his tour due to a reported “illness”. And because everything Morrissey-related has to be dramatic, there’s a bit of controversy surrounding his tour cancellation. Moz is blaming his illness on his opening act Kristeen Young, saying that because she got him sick he had to cancel the tour. Kristeen is fighting back by making very clear that she did not get Morrissey sick, revealing that she was fired from the tour so that she could be made the scapegoat. DRAMA, thy name is Morrissey. As you may know, Tori Amos is currently on tour in Europe and at each show, she performs a pair of cover songs that may or may not have a connection to the city she is performing in. Previously, we’ve seen video of Tori performing Metallica‘s Nothing Else Matters and Madonna‘s Frozen … today, we get to see video of Tori performing the song Rise Like A Phoenix by 2014 Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst during a concert stop in Wurst’s home country of Austria. The video embedded above was shot by a fan and there is a bit of annoying chatter from the audience but Tori‘s performance of Conchita‘s song is stunning. Stun. Ning. Enjoy.

Last night I made my way out to the Shrine Auditorium here in LA to see the final date of Lana Del Rey‘s concert tour. Altho I really hate seeing shows at the Shrine due to its usually terrible security, horrible sight lines and generally shabby appearance, I really wanted to see LDR on this tour. I’m happy to relay that Lana put on a great show, even if the venue left much to be desired. After the show, I had to race back to Hollywood to attend a SUPERHERO surprise party for Darion! His friends worked really hard to pull off this surprise party so I had to make it out and celebrate Darion in the most superhero-iest way possible. More »

Last night I got to meet up with Darion for a belated birthday dinner before I made my way to the Bootleg Bar to see Tanya Donelly and Throwing Muses in concert. At the show, I ran into my friend Sheela who goes to, like, 90% of the shows that I go to but we never realize it until afterward. This time we got to hang out properly and had the best time. Dinner with Darion was great. The show was great. My Thursday night was really freaking great. More »
Perfect Cover is Perfect
Sigh. Tori Amos continued her European tour this week with a stop in Amsterdam last night and, as you can see and hear above, she performed a beautiful cover of Madonna‘s song Frozen from her 1998 Ray of Light album. As you may recall, we saw video last week of Tori‘s cover of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica and today, we get Frozen. Tori has been performing two cover songs on each night of her tour. The majority of cover songs have been suggested by fans and each one takes on exciting new life thru Tori‘s piano. I won’t be able to see Tori in concert until she brings her tour to the US in July but the release of these videos is enough to tide me over until I can see her live myself. I am living for Tori‘s version of Frozen. Please enjoy.

Remember back in February when we heard rumors that Steve Perry might be ready to stage a comeback and reunite with his old band Journey? Well, thus far, nothing has come from any of that talk … BUT over the weekend, Perry appeared on stage during a concert performance by The Eels to perform a pair of Journey songs LIVE for the first time in about 20 years. I’m not really sure why Steve showed up to perform at this particular show, and with The Eels of all people, but perform he did. Steve sang The Eels song It’s a Motherfucker to warm up his vocal chords and then performed the Journey songs Open Arms and Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’ for the sold out Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, MN (capacity 1000). People, this video is a MUST SEE. Steve still sounds amazing. That voice! OMG. I’m not sure what this performance means … if it was a one-off performance out of the blue then I am SO bummed I couldn’t witness this in person. BUT, if this is a sign that Steve Perry is ready to return to the performance stage then I may just lose my mind and freak out from happiness. Enjoy this video. I plan on watching and rewatching it for a few hours :D
