#ThrowbackThursday: Joan Rivers On ‘The Carol Burnett Show’ Was Amazing

1974
The incomparable Joan

Well, the Beyoncé birthday tribute I was planning is going to have to wait because we lost one of my favorite comedians today. Joan Rivers had a style that I always, always admired. She made me laugh, and she made me cringe. She made me feel bad for laughing, but in that awesome way where—no matter how bad I felt—I couldn’t stop. As someone who watches E! Fashion Police regularly, I can honestly say that I will miss her. Like Trent said earlier, “she was a comic genius and a bonafide trailblazer”—Rivers had been doing this for so long. Check out an amazing clip above from her 1974 appearance on The Carol Burnett Show.

Watch: Kevin Hart And Dave Franco Are Hilarious In The New Madden NFL 15 Commercial

Absolute madness.
Hart VS. Franco

I have never in my life played Madden, but I understand that there are certain members of the population for whom this moment is huge. EA Sports is getting ready to drop Madden NFL 15 and they made one of my favorite commercials of all time. I am weirdly into this theme song, I love the Lady Gaga—esque singer in the middle of the pool, and I love the Blah Blah Blah verse. Yeah, you have to watch this. Peep the video for more!

First Look: Aubrey Plaza Is The Zombie Girlfriend Of Your Dreams In ‘Life After Beth’

Finally! A zombie movie I can get with.
'You ATE A Guy!'

Let me preface all of this by saying that I can’t staaaand zombie movies or zombie-related TV shows. As with most things, this stems from childhood experiences. I saw Night of the Living Dead once (maybe twice) as a kid, and for a good portion of my life was plagued with zombie-related nightmares from which I have yet to fully recover. So every time I try to watch things like The Walking Dead or World War Z, I just freak the freak out. Enter Life After Beth. Aubrey Plaza (who is, apparently, my new fave movie star or something) is a zombie I can totally deal with. She’s cute, she’s quirky, but she just eats people sometimes. She’s starring alongside some of my other faves—Dane DeHaan, John C. Reilly, Anna Kendrick, and Molly Shannon and this whole thing looks really fun. Peep the video for more!

Watch: Dave Chappelle Tells An Epic Kanye West Story On ‘The Tonight Show’

I <3 Dave 4EVA
All Chappelle Everything, Please

First of all, can we just acknowledge how amazing it feels to see Dave Chappelle on television again? It makes me feel sooo damn good. MMmhhh (that’s the sound of me feelin’ it in my soul… mmmhhhh.) I watched him on David Letterman the other night, and he made another appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote his upcoming show at Radio City Music Hall. In the interview he’s got a few funny stories about the early beginnings of the Chappelle Show, and the great musicians he worked with— The Roots, Talib Kweli, Common, and of course Kanye West. Actually, I think I’ve heard this Yeezy story before but listening to Dave Chappelle poke fun at Kanye West will never, ever get old. Peep the video for more! And click inside for a few more hilarious stories from Dave.

Watch: ‘Saturday Night Live’ Gives Us The Audio From Jay Z And Solange’s Fight

Plus, St. Vincent Performs 'Digital Witness' and 'Birth in Reverse'
Foot Five!

We knew this Saturday Night Live sketch was coming, but damn if it wasn’t still awesome! I haven’t had time to watch most of these clips yet (I think there are some good ones– lots of special guests this week), but I had to check out this cold open with the Jay Z/Solange elevator incident. Already today we’ve seen the Carters make multiple attempts at getting us to forget what happened– a new photo from Bey and that friggen epic faux movie trailer for Run. But Cartergate lives with this SNL skit! Apparently, we had it all wrong from the beginning and the whole incident pertains to Jay Z‘s struggles with arachnophobia. It all makes sense now! Peep the video for more and click inside for other clips. Also, can I just say that we have an ongoing debate in my house about Maya Rudolph and whether or not she is actually funny. I’m sorry, but I just love her. So there!

First Look: Steve Carell Plays A Killer, Alongside Channing Tatum In ‘Foxcatcher’

From 'Capote' Director Bennett Miller
Carell & Tatum Get Serious

Now this looks interesting! Steve Carell might be going after some serious awards for dramatic acting with this role in an upcoming biographical picture. He’s playing the wealthy scientist/Olympic wrestling coach/murderer John du Pont in the new film Foxcatcher. Director Bennett Miller (who brought us Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s Capote, and Moneyball) worked from no script—outlines only— for this highly-anticipated work. Channing Tatum plays world champion freestyle wrestler and Olympic gold medalist Mark Schultz and Mark Ruffalo plays his brother. Get your first look above and tell me what you think! Is Carell gearing up for big things, or do you still see too much Andy/Michael/Brick behind all that make-up?

The Super Bowl XLVIII Spread

The stunning Kate Upton is rocking a new Vogue spread for the February issue and I am so in love with it. In anticipation of Super Bowl XLVIII, Upton is rocking some of NYC’s finest threads, and partying with the Giants and the Jets. She’s also got some great shots with Jimmy Fallon (all decked out in face paint), Michael Strahan, and Tracy Morgan. Peep the gallery for more!

Joan Rivers Mocks Baby North West’s Appearance During A Stand Up Comedy Routine

“That baby is ugly"

Comedienne Joan Rivers has made a career out of making tasteless jokes at the expense of others to the point that nothing really seems to shock me anymore whenever she launches one of her comedic attacks on someone else. But this weekend, Rivers may have gone too far … even by her standards. During a stand up routine at the Saban Theater last Friday night, Joan started making fun of Kanye West‘s infant daughter North West. Inspired, I think, by the new photos of North that were broadcast on the Ellen DeGeneres Show last week, Rivers proceeded to call the baby “ugly” and proclaimed that she is in “desperate need of waxing” (which, I assume, was inspired by the contention a few weeks ago that North West‘s mother may have waxed the baby’s eyebrows). I mean, I get that comics make fun of people and routinely make jokes more tasteless than this all the time … but a grown woman calling an infant baby “ugly” has to be the most un-funny thing I can think of. Watch: Justin Bieber Was The Butt Of A Bunch Of Jokes At The Laugh Factory

"No it's not a hologram, motherf*ckers"

Last Friday night, Justin Bieber decided to pay a visit to the Laugh Factory here in LA and was cajoled into jumping up on stage to be made fun of during comedian Chris D’Elia‘s stand up comedy routine. Honestly, D’Elia isn’t really that funny but I guess his jokes make make a few people laugh considering they are meant to make fun of The Biebs. For his part, JB was a pretty good sport thruout the routine … but, eventually, he did feel he had to speak up and defend himself by resorting to misogyny. Naturally, TMZ has video of the whole event … which you can watch in full below. More »
