As was reported earlier, it appears that Whitney Houston passed away by drowning yesterday afternoon just hours before she was scheduled to appear and reportedly perform at The Recording Academy and Clive Davis Annual Pre-Grammy Party that famously takes place annually each night before the Grammy Awards. Because the event was so beloved by Whitney, her mentor and friend Clive Davis decided that the show would go on despite her death and would, instead, be turned into an impromptu memorial for the late Whitney Houston. Clive Davis opened the show last night with remarks about Whitney‘s passing and then led the assembled audience in a respectful moment of silence … and then the party got underway. Late last month we learned that actress Scarlett Johansson found herself a mysterious new dude who we learned a few days later is an advertising executive named Nate Naylor. You may recall that the first photos we saw of ScarJo and Nate were snapped on the cold and wintry streets of NYC … today we learn that the couple have decided to escape the cold and make their way to the warm and sunny beaches of Hawaii. A few weeks ago we got to see cute photos of the very pregnant Alyson Hannigan doing a bit of maternity shopping here in SoCal. Yesterday we learned that our dear Britney Spears ***MAY*** be featured on Madonna‘s new album M.D.N.A. and sadly we know now that she is not (Madge debunked the rumor today in her interview with Ryan Seacrest). But in happy news, we get to see new photos of Britney in full on mommy mode as she drops off her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James at school. As you may know, Britney is planning to take some time off from her bizzy work schedule to focus on living her normal life … and clearly that includes daily drop offs and pick ups at her sons’ school. Congratulations are in order for former Beatle Paul McCartney because yesterday he was honored with his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Altho The Beatles have had their own star for years, this is the first time that Paul has been honored with a star of his own. As I understand it, Paul‘s solo star was approved back in the early 90s and due to various circumstances the unveiling ceremony was put on hold. But yesterday was his big day! Troubling new photos of actor Macaulay Culkin are making the rounds this week and by pretty much all accounts, the young actor does not look well in the photos. Macaulay appears extremely gaunt and sickly, IMHO. But, according to his press rep, there is nothing at all wrong with Macaulay‘s health. It’s unknown exactly why Mac looks so skinny but the official party line from his people is that he is fine. Check out the photo below and see what you think.

When last we saw Michael Lohan here on the blog, he was hospitalized in Florida due to heart and liver problems. You may recall that his hospitalization came about a month after he was arrested for the second time for violating the restraining order placed on him by his ex-girlfriend Kate Major. I am happy to report that Lohan‘s medical problems seem to be over and he is looking to turn his life around. Apparently, Lohan is looking for a new job these days … he is hoping to get a job at Burger King.

Yesterday we learned of a romantic rendezvous in Bangkok, Thailand between lovebirds Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling. As we already know, Ryan is in Bangkok working on a film titled Only God Forgives and Eva flew halfway around the world just to spend time with him there. New photos have surfaced of both Ryan and Eva in Thailand … and as you can see below, the couple look like they’ve already made themselves quite at home.

Cruz David Beckham, the 3rd Beckham child, will be celebrating his 7th birthday on February 20 but it looks like daddy David Beckham has already started shopping for birthday gifts for the little dude. Becks and his eldest son Brooklyn Joseph were spotted making their way out of a Toys R Us store here in SoCal with big bags full of toys for Cruz.
