Lindsay Lohan Previews The 6126 Spring Ad Campaign

Hole-ly moly
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Lindsay Lohan’s leggings line, 6126, has a PR Twitter account to promote the brand and sent out a tweet giving us our first look at the new Spring ad campaign for the line … here is the behind the scenes photo and tweet message that was posted late yesterday:

Lindsay shot the 6126 spring campaign with Markus Klinko & Indrani in NY during fashion week… just tweeted a behind scenes pix

I know it’s horrrrrrrible but I don’t hate the neon lime top … but the leggings are just terrible. I’m not sure who her target audience is but if it’s strippers, I don’t think they’re gonna pay premium prices for leggings with holes in them when they can just cut them up themselves. The whole look of this photo (and presumably the 6126 Spring ad campaign) looks an awful lot like the look that Samantha Jones will be rocking in Sex and the City 2. Ugh. This is a world of no. I mean, would YOU wear any of this?

Mariah Carey Launches Her New Fragrance Called ‘Forever’

Smell ya later
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Last month we learned that Mariah Carey would be releasing a new fragrance called Forever by Mariah Carey — her 4th after M by Mariah Carey, Luscious Pink by Mariah Carey and Ultra Pink by Mariah Carey (which is a Wal-Mart only exclusive — and yesterday Mimi made an in-store appearance at Macy’s department store in Herald Square, NYC to launch the new smell … here are a few photos from the event:

I understand hordes of Mariah’s fans, or lambs as they like to be called, packed the aisles at Macy’s to get a glimpse of the diva. Coincidentally (or intentionally), this in-store appearance was also timed with the release of Mimi’s new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel which hit stores yesterday. Yes, yesterday was a big day for Mariah retail … did any of y’all buy either of her new wares available for sale yesterday?

Emma Watson To Design Her Own Line Of Clothes

'Love from Emma'
Friday, September 18th, 2009

Another day, another clothing line designed by a celebrity … in today’s instance, we get word that Harry Potter starlet and frosh student at Brown University this Fall Emma Watson has signed on to design her own line of clothing which will be called Love From Emma for a company called People Tree. Here are a few deets from Teen Vogue magazine about Ms. Watson’s new line of clothes:

We could barely contain our excitement when we heard through the rumor mill that our lovely August cover girl Emma Watson was to be launching a clothing line designed exclusively for teens, so imagine our delight when the official announcement dropped in our inbox this morning! The capsule collection for People Tree — the British purveyor of Fair Trade fashion that works to create livelihoods for individuals in some of the world’s most marginalized communities by using hand weaving, knitting and embroidery — is appropriately called Love from Emma. The spring/summer 2010 lineup will be comprised of 26 women’s looks (plus 15 men’s styles for all the Ron Weasleys in your life), and you can expect lots of casual-chic basics like 100% organic and Fairtrade certified cotton t-shirts and jersey dresses, as well as quirky lifestyle accessories ranging from bohemian hand embroidered bead throws to banana fibre slouchy beanies and head scarves befitting of the Brown frosh Emma. While we got concerned when we realized that the collection, which hits stores in late February, will only be available in countries where People Tree currently has outposts (read: the EU and Japan), we were relieved to learn that People Tree will be opening up a special e-commerce site to ship orders to the States. You can even sign up now at peopletreeyouth.co.uk to get up to the minute information on the collection!

I suppose if Lauren LC Conrad can design a line of clothes for Kohl’s here in the States then why shouldn’t Emma Watson be allowed to design a line of clothes for People Tree in the EU. Both of these lines have to be better (ie. of greater quality) than the line of clothes “designed” by Miley Cyrus for Wal-Mart. Something tells me that this fad of celebrity clothing designs won’t be dying down anytime soon … at least a collection associated with Emma Watson doesn’t seem as cheap as most of the celebrity collections out there … I think her Britishness helps ;)

She By Shereé Finally Shows . . . At New York Fashion Week

Who gon' check me, boo?
Monday, September 14th, 2009

Fans of The Real Housewives of Atlanta are well aware that housewife Shereé Whitfield tried to launch her clothing line She By Shereé on the show last season but because of the fact that she had no clothes to show, the line failed to launch. A year later, Whitfield finally got her shizz together and managed to pull off a fashion show for She By Shereé here at New York Fashion Week yesterday … and Marc Malkin from E! News was lucky enough to attend. Here are a few photos of Shereé at her event yesterday and Malkin’s take on the show:

Sheree Whitfield wasn’t the only star of the Real Housewives of Atlanta people were hoping to see earlier today at the She by Sheree fashion collection presentation in New York City. But none were to be found. After chatting with Sheree backstage, it’s pretty clear why the other wives were no-shows… Sheree doesn’t really hang much these days with fellow Housewives NeNe, Kim, Lisa or Kandi. “It’s just a working relationship,” Sheree explained. “We all have our different things that we’re doing. We’re not friends, but we are cordial.” Now, with the day’s event behind her, Sheree was hoping for some lovin’. “I’ve really been focusing in on this,” she said. “I haven’t had time to go out and for dating. I’ve been working so hard, but now that it’s over I may go find myself a date tonight.” She was quick to add, “I’m not looking, but if someone comes around tonight, that would be great.” Who was at Sheree’s fashion debut? Sex and the City director Michael Patrick King and Adam Glassman, creative director of O, The Oprah Magazine. No word if Carrie Bradshaw or Ms. Winfrey have any plans to slip into some She by Sheree originals.

You know, I like Shereé on the show … but these clothes are a HOT MESS. It’s a shame that even after all this time she couldn’t come up with one decent design. I really wanted to be impressed … but I guess it goes to show that you cannot be a successful designer overnight — and just because you say so. After the jump, check out some of the She by Shereé designs that walked the runway yesterday morning …

Victoria Beckham Shows Collection At New York Fashion Week Spring 2010

Dress-ed to impress
Monday, September 14th, 2009

Victoria Beckham showed off the Spring 2010 collection of her dress line at New York Fashion Week this weekend and, as I understand it, the collection was a huge success. Showcasing bold colors and adventurous fabrics and prints, VB seems to be confidently moving her design aesthetic into the true realm of high fashion. Here are photos of VB at the Fashion’s Night Out event at Bergdorf Goodman over the weekend and some deets about her latest collection:

Already a favourite with the likes of Elle Macpherson and Dannii Minogue, Victoria Beckham has won universal praise from the fashion community since launching her label two seasons ago. So expectations were high for the launch of her latest collection at New York Fashion Week yesterday in a hip downtown art gallery. The fledgling designer didn’t disappoint, her latest offering braver and more confident than previous seasons. ‘This is my third collection, and I wanted to push myself, but I also wanted to be respectful of my customer,’ she said. ‘I want her to know she can rely on me.’ Featuring bolder colours, sombre-style prints and a more adventurous spectrum of fabrics and cuts, she seemed to have flexed her fashion muscles to fantastic effect. Presenting her spring/summer 2010 collection, Beckham had refashioned her signature fitted dress in a sunny yellow hue. This season’s popular peplum style was pared down in taupe with a geometric cut-out neckline, while another creation – worn by the designer herself for the occasion – played with the proportions of the overskirt, teaming it with a high hemline. A loose silky shift dress in a black, yellow and white print saw her step out of her tailored comfort zone, while formal eveningwear also featured for the first time in the shape of a stunning red silk goddess gown with a cut-out back and black trim.

After the jump, check out a few of VB’s Spring ‘10 designs to see what all the fuss is about …
