Paris Hilton Trades In Her Doug For Her Dog

New Tricks
Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Contrary to reports that Paris Hilton begged Doug Reinhardt to take her back after she publicly dumped him earlier in the week, Paris herself contends that no such thing happened. She dumped him and is moving on without him — the end. And to prove her point, she has been seen in the company of a new male companion. No, I’m not talking about soccer stud Cristiano Ronaldo … I’m referring to an even older male companion of hers — her pet chihuahua Tinkerbell:

Paris had some biz to take care of at MTV Studios yesterday so in place of her previous pet companion Doug Reinhardt, Hilton brought along her loyal pooch Tinkerbell. I mean … a dog is a dog right? While I’m still a bit dismayed that Pug Dilton failed to make their relationship work, I suppose I’ll get over it. True, Paris is now free to wreak havoc on the poor unsuspecting guys who continue to fall for her charms but, hey, I bet they’ll keep lining up.

The First Dog Has His Coming Out Party

Bo officially becomes the newest Obama
Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

This past Sunday morn, we got our first look at Bo Obama, the new First Dog, and today we get to see Bo running and frolicking with the First Family on the White House lawn … which is now his new home. Yesterday was Bo’s official coming out party as members of the US and worldwide press corp came out to the White House to get the first official look at the newly expanded First Family:

He may be the leader of the free world, but he still has to walk the dog. “We all have to take turns walking the dog,’’ President Obama declared Tuesday, as Bo Obama, the newest – and only four-legged — occupant of the White House, made his much-anticipated Washington debut. Then again, the president had his two young daughters with him. What else could any self-respecting father and new dog owner say? “We’re trying to be responsible dog owners,’’ he later confessed. In this city of jaded journalists, about 100 members of the Fourth Estate turned out to watch the Obamas — President Barack, First Lady Michelle and First Daughters Malia and Sasha – scamper around the South Lawn with Bo and entertain dog-related questions. This we now know as a result: Bo has not yet had any accidents in the presidential mansion. “We’re trying to keep her from having accidents,’’ Mrs. Obama said, mistakenly using the female pronoun even though Bo is a boy. (No offense intended, Bo, but with your curly black hair, white front paws and carefully-groomed tail, you do kind of look like a girl.) Bo, a gift to the Obamas from Senator Edward M. Kennedy Jr., is a Portuguese Water Dog. The president allowed that Porties, as they are called, like to eat tomatoes. “Michelle’s garden is in danger,’’ Mr. Obama declared. Not to worry, Mrs. Obama said – the garden doesn’t have any tomatoes. Here, Sasha Obama, 7, weighed in, changing the subject. “He doesn’t know how to swim!’’ she exclaimed. (Water dog or not, Bo will apparently require swimming lessons.) Bo joins a long line of presidential pooches, the most recent being Barney, President George W. Bush’s dog, who once bit a reporter. (For the record, some say Barney was provoked.) Barney was allowed in the Oval Office. Will Bo have similar privileges? “Of course,’’ Mr. Obama replied. Will he sleep in a bed? “Not in my bed,’’ the president said.

It is really nice to see that we can focus on something this whimsical and happy during a time of some strife. Of course, the acquisition of a new dog isn’t and shouldn’t be front page news but sometimes I think a story like this is a welcome one. Seeing the First Family in a more “normal” light makes us all feel closer to them. I’m sure having Bo come home to live with them is the best news ever for Sasha and Malia Obama. After the jump, check out video of Bo’s introduction to the press yesterday afternoon …

The Obama Family Welcomes The New First Dog

Meet Bo Obama
Sunday, April 12th, 2009

The US has a new First Pet, a dog named Bo, and everyone is a-twitter about his arrival. Late Friday, TMZ scooped the DC media with all the deets about the new First Dog days ahead of a supposed exclusive that was to come from the Washington Post. Here is our first look at Bo Obama (named after Bo Diddly) and the First Family Barack, Michelle, Sasha and Malia Obama welcoming him into the fold:

Forget about hunting for Easter eggs. The president’s daughters have a much better treat in store this holiday weekend: a new dog! After months of anticipation, a 6-month-old Portuguese Water Dog named Bo is now calling the White House home. First, the name. According to the Washington Post, which published confirmation of the White House dog news Sunday, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, chose the name because their cousins have a cat named Bo and because Mrs. Obama’s father was nicknamed Diddley, as in Bo Diddley. The dog is a gift from Sen. Ted Kennedy, who owns three dogs of the same breed, known for high spirits and said to be a good fit for kids with allergies (such as Malia). Kennedy had been lobbying the Obamas to get a Portuguese Water Dog (or PWD) for months. The newspaper reports that the Obama girls are delighted – they’ve been waiting anxiously since their dad promised them a dog during his presidential campaign – and that the family, first-time dog owners, are still deciding where Bo will sleep and who will walk and feed him. Under a veil of secrecy, the Post reports, Bo actually made a trip to the White House earlier to meet the family. “The Meeting,” as it was called by staffers, was a success. But the highly-orchestrated canine delivery procedure didn’t go without a few hitches. First, news began to circulate that a Portuguese Water Dog by the name of Charlie had been selected for the First Family after a Web site called firstdogcharlie.com posted the information, and a photo, Saturday. The White House called the photo “bogus” and told news organizations (including PEOPLE) that the First Dog would make its debut Tuesday – although Bo, it is now apparent, was already at the White House over the weekend. Then there are the questions about the dog’s origins that are sure to bedevil the Administration. The Obamas originally discussed rescuing a dog from a shelter. But valuable and highly-bred PWDs rarely show up at shelters. Bo is said to have lived with a family that decided not to keep him, but that won’t likely satisfy animal rescue advocates who wanted the Obamas to take in a stray. To help ease disappointment, according to the Washington Post, the family will make a donation to the District of Columbia Humane Society.

So much drama over such a little guy. While I understand that the new Presidential pooch had to be allergen-free so that the Obama girls (who are allergic) could live with him, all of the hoopla about his pedigree and where he came from is a bit ridiculous. All of the “top secrecy” of his procurement is equally ridic. But, at last, Bo has joined the First Family and now, hopefully, we can move on. Welcome to the White House, Bo!

Nick Cannon Gifts Wife Mariah Carey With A New Dog, Tattoo

Happy Almost Anniversary
Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

With their one year anniversary on the horizon, it’s high time for Nick Cannon to start showering his beloved wife Mariah Carey with gifts to let her know how much he cares. Firstly, we now know that Nick got his wife’s name inked in huge letters across his back (which, by the way, is the surest way to tempt fate to eff with your romantic relationship) and secondly, we learn that he also procured a new pet dog for his ladylove. Let the anniversary celebration begin!! Here are pics of Mr. & Mrs. Cannon frolicking together like the lovebirds that they are on a beach in Barbados (and of Nick proudly showing off his tattoo) and the deets about Mimi’s new pet pooch:

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon will celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary in May, after being secretly married last spring in the Bahamas. So what does a guy get the girl who has everything? “I got her a short-haired Jack Russell terrier,” he told Us Weekly. “A girl, named Cha-Cha. She’s 8 weeks.” Although Cannon laughed off rumors that he and Carey are expecting a baby, he did say that being married to her is “the most amazing thing ever. I couldn’t wish for anything else.” He even offered evidence of why the marriage is so great. “She’s the most incredible woman,” he said. “Being in a strong union and being there for each other is something that I’d never really experienced before, so to experience it with my wife is remarkable. We’re together as one, and that’s important to me.” The couple plan on getting away for their upcoming anniversary to a tropical locale, similar to the one where they were married a year ago. “We never went on a honeymoon,” he said. “So I guess I can tell you we’ll probably go to Barbados.” Cannon also recently spoke to “Extra” about the possibility of working with Carey on any music. “I am not worthy of being on a Mariah Carey record,” he insisted. “Please, we’re going to try to keep her career soaring. I can’t even step into the studio with that woman. She is incredible.”

Wow. I can’t even believe that it’s almost been a year already. It seems like just yesterday that we learned that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were secretly wed and here we are, on the verge of their 1st year anniversary. They say that the first year of marriage is the hardest but it seems like Mr. & Mrs. Cannon have made it thru with flying colors. Truth be told, I wasn’t sure if they were gonna make it a month let alone a year. Nick must really be sure that Mimi is the one for him because a tattoo that huge on one’s back is a serious commitment. Let’s hope that they never break-up because Nick would need some major skin grafting surgery to have that tattoo removed. BUT, let’s stay positive … I suppose congrats are in order for Mariah, Nick and little Cha-Cha. It’s not quite time for Happy Anniversary just yet but soon … hopefully.

Mickey Rourke Lurves His Dog

And he ain't afraid to show it
Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Mickey Rourke famously decreed from the Golden Globes award stage earlier this year when he won the Best Actor trophy that, “Sometimes when a man’s alone, all you got is your dog” … which is never more evident than when Rourke is traveling with his beloved pets. Sadly, Mickey lost his loyal companion Loki last month but he seems to be doing okay with his other pooch Jaws shown here in these new photos snapped this week at LAX Airport:

These photos are just too damn cute. You can actually FEEL the love that Mickey has for Jaws … it’s really too adorable. I love that life has given Mickey Rourke a second chance and I love that he’s got a very loyal companion to share it with. I’m not a dog person, not by any stretch of the imagination, but I think I can understand the love that a person can have for their pooch. These photos of Mickey and Jaws really brightened up my day, I hope they brighten up yours as well :)

Jiley & Dog Cause A Ruckus In Downtown Burbank

Hungry for attention
Monday, March 16th, 2009

16-year old Miley Cyrus and her 20-year old magazine covermodel manfriend Justin Gaston packed up their little pooch in a nifty dog carrier and made their way to downtown Burbank, CA to enjoy a nice afternoon of lunch and public gawking from the folks who managed to stop and stare at their spectacle outing. Here are a few photos:

When Jiley were last spotted out and about it was on the occasion of Miley’s book signing for her, ahem, autobiography at the Barnes & Noble book store at The Grove a week ago. As you may recall, poor Justin was relegated to the back of the room at that event because all eyes here on Miley for her signing. This time around, tho, I understand that Justin managed to get more of the attention while the couple were flaunting themselves in Burbank. Justin managed to attract hordes of ardent fangirls while Miley had to stand by and watch with only her pet dog to keep her company. Ah well … she uses him, he uses her … they just make the perfect Hollywood powercouple. Don’t cha just love it?

Paris Hilton Procures A $10,000 Puppy

A present from her new paramour Doug Reinhardt
Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Clearly, things are heating up between Paris Hilton and her reported new love interest and minor character on MTV’s The Hills Doug Reinhardt … because Doug just bought her a $10,000 new Pomeranian puppy to add to her zoo of other pets. As you may recall, Paris and Doug reportedly hooked-up after Amanda Bynes dumped himDoug accompanied Paris on her recent trip to Japan. While the lovebirds were on the other side of the planet, Life & Style magazine reports that Doug dropped some serious dough in order to purchase this new pup for his ladylove:

Paris Hilton’s hot new romance with Doug Reinhardt just got a little more serious. “Doug bought Paris a $10,000 teacup Pomeranian when they were in Japan recently,” reveals an insider. Paris and Doug traveled to Tokyo on Feb. 24 to promote Samantha Thavasa (Paris’ sister, Nicky Hilton, designs Samantha Thavasa New York). “We had a great time,” Paris told Life & Style outside an LA tanning salon after the trip. Doug doted on her too. “He went with her to all her appearances and shoots and would just stare at her adoringly,” says the insider. “He says she’s the hottest girl on the planet.” And Paris digs Doug. “She thinks he’s really funny and sweet,” says the insider. “When she ended her previous relationship with Benji [Madden], she promised herself she’d be single for a year. But she thinks Doug’s handsome, generous and fun to be with.” Benji was just too boring, says an insider. “He was so strict and controlling and never let her go out,” says the insider.

Er, I don’t really think that Paris really needs another pet to add to her menagerie (whatever happened to her Chiuahuas Tinkerbell and Bambi, btw?) but if you’re lookin’ to get into her good graces, buying animals for her is a pretty good strategy. I said it before, I’ll say it again … Paris and Doug were made for one another. Here’s hoping they stay happily attached FOREVER! I can’t think of a more fitting couple that totally deserve each other. Poor dog, tho. It’s cute.
