A preliminary hearing found probable cause to proceed to a trial
Two weeks ago we learned that former Saved by the Bell star Dustin Diamond (aka Screech) was arrested in Wisconsin after he allegedly stabbed a man in a bar fight on Xmas night. A few days later, we learned that Diamond managed to post bail and be released from police custody pending a preliminary hearing. Yesterday, Diamond was back in court to face the judge and found out that he will be forced to stand trial for the charges leveled against him. The details of the bar fight have been clarified a bit (it turns out Dustin was wielding a regular pocketknife, not a switchblade as was originally reported) and enough evidence was presented in court to warrant a trial. “I’ll be fine", she said
After the Real Housewives of New Jersey reality TV show star plead guilty to felony fraud charges last spring, Teresa Giudice and her husband Giuseppe (aka Joe) Giudice were both sentenced to prison terms for their crimes last October. Joe will not have to serve his prison 41 month prison sentence until Teresa completes her 14 month sentence, which she began serving earlier this morning. Just after 3 AM ET today, Teresa turned herself in to authorities to begin her sentence. Her last words before she was taken away were I’ll be fine. Dang. More »

Self Defense is his Defense
On Friday we learned the sad news that Saved By The Bell star Dustin Diamond got arrested on Xmas Day night after he allegedly pulled out a switchblade knife and stabbed a man at a bar in Wisconsin. Today we learn that Diamond made an appearance in court earlier today to plead not guilty on grounds of self defense at his arraignment, where he finally was able to post bail and be released from jail. After a crummy weekend behind bars, Screech is now a free man again. More »
You cannot be serious...
I was hoping that, as I followed this story, it wouldn’t turn out to be as bad as it sounded. I hoped t would go away entirely, which is why I haven’t written anything until not. Things have been quiet on the Halle Berry/Gabriel Aubry front for a while now. No more beefs with her new husband, Olivier Martinez, and no more custody drama. However, a little while back Berry took her babydaddy to court, because she was convinced that he was chemically straightening and lightening their daughter Nahla‘s hair behind her back. This may not seem like a huge issue to some of you, but when you’re a woman of color, the decision to relax or stay natural can be a big deal. And now, it appears that Berry was right, and a judge has ruled in her favor. Click inside for more.
"I have dedicated myself to becoming a better person"
Way back in 1988, when he wasn’t yet the Marky Mark that would enjoy fame and fortune with The Funky Bunch and beyond, Mark Wahlberg was convicted of assault and battery of a man who he attacked while attempting to steal alcohol. During the assault, Wahlberg attacked the man with a wooden stick and hurled racial slurs at the man all the while. Today we learn that Marky Mark has filed paperwork to have the conviction expunged from his record with a formal pardon. Wahlberg has famously stated, “I want people to remember my past so that I can serve as an example of how lives can be turned around and how people can be redeemed” but now that he is trying to launch a franchise of restaurants, he is hoping to have his conviction expunged for business purposes. "I was instructed to NEVER tell anyone."
Here’s an interesting point that readers are starting to make about the Bill Cosby rape/sexual assault/predatory behavior accusations. Not one celebrity who has worked closely with Cosby over the years has come forward to defend his name. Raven-Symoné only came forward to refute rumors that he sexually assaulted her, but we haven’t seen any rallying around Cosby. I think that speaks volumes. And now we have yet another actress, Michelle Hurd, coming forward and speaking out about her experience with Cosby. She was fortunate enough to not have been attacked by him, but she says Cosby certainly tried. Click inside for more.

Why can't we accept that celebrities can rape too?
Last night I had one of those interesting Facebook moments, where someone I went to school with wrote something about the Bill Cosby story that made me cringe. I was JUST about to exercise my right to “unfriend” when I decided, instead, to share a differing opinion. We exchanged a few comments, and she was polite and even open (although we ultimately disagreed in our stance on the case). I did the thing where I posted an article: Everything you need to know about the Bill Cosby sase. Because it’s hard for me to understand how you could read all these details, and decide that 13+ women are just making stuff up. And as I got lost in my own vortex of allegations and stories, I started thinking about how it’s so hard to believe stories like this in a culture of celebrity worship… a culture of which I am a part in more ways than one. WTF is going on?
The Amanda Bynes story is incredibly confusing to me, and to many others. On the one hand, it seems like she really does need help. On the other hand, you have medical officials saying she’s stable enough to be released from that 5150 hold that was keeping her in treatment (involuntarily). So, either she’s okay, or we have some serious issues with our mental health programs in America (you can guess which one I’m going with). Bynes was last seen roaming Sunset Blvd., unable to find a hotel that would take her for some time. But I suppose the good news is that her attempts to fight conservatorship have been denied, so far. Pebbles wants MORE money from TLC
After VH1 aired CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story last year, we first learned that TLC‘s former manager Perri Pebbles Reid was none too happy about how she was portrayed in the biopic movie. It’s taken her about a year to decide that she’s so unhappy with the way she was portrayed that she has decided to file a $40 million dollar lawsuit against the group on allegations that they defamed her good name. Yep. She sure did. More »
She said / He said
Earlier today we learned that singer/songwriter Kesha filed a lawsuit against her collaborator/producer Lukasz Dr. Luke Gottwald claiming that he sexually, verbally and emotionally abused her for over a decade. Gottwald, in turn, just filed a lawsuit of his own against Kesha claiming that she is lying about him and is attempting to extort him. As I predicted, Kesha‘s lawsuit has ignited a legal battle that will pit her claims of abuse against his refutations and claims of his own. Read on to learn more about Gottwald‘s countersuit against Kesha. More »
