Zac Efron, Jason Bateman, Goldie Hawn, and Leslie Mann are all in negotiations to star in the new movie, This Is Where I Leave You, an adaptation of the Jonathan Tropper comic novel about four siblings who come home to ‘sit shiva’ for their deceased father. Some of you may be aware that sitting ‘shiva’ is a Jewish tradition where close family members sit at home, usually in the family home, for seven days after a death in the family. Not ever a funny situation, but this time it has been turned into a comic novel and now a film. It is being directed by Adam Shankman, who just finished Rock of Ages, and is reportedly attracting a lot of interest from celebrities who want to be involved in the project. Blade Runner Bounty
We have been so busy with all the updates on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus that the news of a possible sequel to his iconic movie, Blade Runner, has almost been forgotten. Today however we have news that Harrison Ford, the star of the original sci-fi movie, who played the lead role of replicant hunter Rick Deckard, will probably star in the sequel in some form. Well, today Deadline is reporting that Dick has been cast, and the role has gone to New Zealand actor, Grant Bowler. You may know Grant from True Blood or Ugly Betty, well, he has now reportedly been cast to play Hollywood great Richard Burton opposite Lindsay Lohan. Miss Congeniality Again?
Today we have learned from Variety that a new cop movie is in the works and they have cast Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy as the two leads. Sandra is a cop movie veteran, having perfected the genre in the Miss Congeniality films, and Bridesmaids star, Melissa, is a newbie to the type of role. The yet to be titled movie follows the strained working relationship between a high-strung FBI agent, played by Sandra, and an unconventional Boston cop, Melissa, who team up to take down a Russian gangster. Demi Moore has been cast in a new movie, Very Good Girls, alongside Dakota Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen and Peter Sarsgaard. Deadline is reporting that screenwriter-producer Naomi Foner cast Demi in the role of Olsen’s mother in what sounds like a right of passage teen film. The crux of the story is that best friends, Fanning and Olsen, are determined to lose their virginity and become adults, but they end up falling for the same guy.
