At the start of January we learned that actress Jaime Pressly had the dubious distinction of becoming the first celebrity arrested in 2011 with drunk driving. Today we learn that Pressly has been officially charged with 2 counts of driving under the influence which, if convicted, means she could get up to 6 months in jail.

Jason Davis, older brother of Brandon Davis [the guy who popularized the term Firecrotch in honor of Lindsay Lohan] who is famous only because of his wealth and his tragic substance abuse issues, was arrested in Newport Beach, CA last night on charges of — you guessed it — drug possession. I understand that Davis is a “graduate” of Dr. Drew‘s Celebrity Rehab TV show … which doesn’t seem to be a very good endorsement for Dr. Drew‘s treatment techniques.

Back in June of last year we learned the sad news that Vince Neil got busted for drunk driving and today we learn that Vince will pay for that crime with a 2 week stint in jail. As you may know, Vince Neil got busted for DUI back in the 80s … at that time, he was punished with 30 days in jail — and he killed a man! This time, he only gets 2 weeks. Now that’s celebrity justice.

Last month we learned that Judson ‘Fabio’ Birza was crowned the winner of Survivor: Nicaragua … today we learn that the guy got arrested in Santa Monica, CA yesterday for being “under the influence of a controlled substance”. Anyone who watched the Survivor: Nicaragua reunion special may remember that Fabio was SO obviously wasted on air that CBS producers wouldn’t even let him speak — and he was the million dollar winner! Clearly winning all that money hasn’t helped his substance abuse problems.

Last August we learned that troubled actor Edward Furlong (Terminator 2, The Green Hornet) was having some domestic problems with his estranged wife who alleges that Furlong assaulted her. As a result, Furlong‘s wife got a legal restraining order that barred him from getting close to her. Yesterday, Eddie Furlong was arrested for violating the terms of that restraining order.

Unfortunately, we’ve got our first celebrity arrest for drunk driving for 2011 … and it hasn’t even been a full week yet. Actress Jaime Pressly got pulled over for committing a traffic violation in Santa Monica, CA last night and according to police she failed a field sobriety test. Pressly was then arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. She got busted, y’all!

Lindsay Lohan has only been out of rehab for a few days and she’s already suffered her first run-in with the law. Yes folks, Lindsay got busted again. Thankfully for her, this latest bust was only the minorest of traffic offenses but, as we all know, it’s a slippery slope from parking ticket to PRISON! Well, okay … maybe not … but for someone as calamitous as Lindsay Lohan, it’s not a good sign that homegirl is in trouble, no matter how slight, again.

Back in June we learned that former original Melrose Place actress Amy Locane (who starred in the first season of the original show back in the 1990′s) got busted for drunk driving after she killed another driver in a car accident. Today we learn that Locane has been indicted with felony aggravated manslaughter and assault by a grand jury and faces up to 15 to 40 years in prison if she is convicted on both charges!

Former “Melrose Place” star Amy Locane has been indicted in New Jersey on charges of aggravated manslaughter and assault by auto following her deadly crash earlier this year … TMZ has learned. Sources tell TMZ Locane was indicted this afternoon by a grand jury in Somerset County. As we previously reported, Locane smashed into the side of another car in Montgomery, NJ back in June … killing the woman in the front seat. Locane told cops she had several glasses of wine before getting behind the wheel. Locane faces 10-30 years behind bars for the manslaughter charge — and 5-10 years for the assault by auto charge. Locane’s attorney Blair Zwillman tells TMZ he’s “surprised” at the aggravated manslaughter charge, adding, “I don’t believe it is supported by the law or the facts and I think it constitutes over-reaching by the prosecutor’s office.”

I can appreciate that Locane‘s lawyer is trying to argue is client out of prison but the fact that she KILLED someone because of her admitted drunk driving seems pretty clear to me that she needs to be locked up for a very long time. At the end of the day, Locane ended someone’s life … and no amount of time served in prison will undo that horrible act. Whether or not she serves a shorter sentence in prison or a longer sentence, she can never truly atone for taking another person’s life. It remains to be seen first if she will be convicted on these charges and second how long she will be sentenced to prison if she is convicted. I really have no sympathy for Amy Locane one way or the other. My thoughts go out to the family who lost their loved one in this tragic accident. The price they continue to pay is immeasurable :(

In what is likely the must unsurprising news you’ll hear all day long, singer Willie Nelson got arrested in Texas last night on marijuana possession charges. The offending substance was found by a border patrol agent who smelled the loco weed inside Willie‘s tour bus … a subsequent search uncovered the marijuana and Willie got taken into custody:

A U.S. Border Patrol spokesman says country singer Willie Nelson was charged with marijuana possession after 6 ounces was found aboard his tour bus in Texas. Patrol spokesman Bill Brooks says the bus pulled into the Sierra Blanca, Texas, checkpoint about 9 a.m. Friday. Brooks says an officer smelled pot when a door was opened and a search turned up marijuana. Brooks says the Hudspeth County sheriff was contacted and Nelson was among three people arrested. Sheriff Arvin West didn’t immediately return a phone message left at his home Friday, but he told the El Paso Times that Nelson claimed the marijuana was his. The singer was held briefly a $2,500 bond before being released.

It is very common knowledge that Willie Nelson is a staunch supporter of the legalization of marijuana who often and very openly discusses his use of the controlled substance. I’m actually very impressed that Willie decided to man up and admit that the marijuana was his when he could’ve very easily had someone else take the blame. At this point in his career, I highly doubt that Willie Nelson is worried about what an arrest for marijuana possession charge might mean professionally … in fact, as an advocate for the legalization of marijuana, he may likely regard this bust as a badge of honor. Whatever the case may be, homeboy got busted for getting caught.

Wesley Snipes, who got busted for not paying his federal taxes back in 2008, was ordered yesterday to finally report to prison to begin serving his 3 year (!!!) sentence. Here is the surprisingly smiley mug shot that Wesley posed for before he got thrown into the slammer late yesterday:

Wesley Snipes was ordered on Friday to start serving a three-year prison sentence for a felony tax conviction after a Florida judge rejected his bid for a new trial. “The Defendant Snipes had a fair trial … The time has come for the judgment to be enforced,” U.S. District Judge Terrell Hodges said in his ruling. He ordered the star of the “Blade” trilogy to report to prison as directed by the U.S. Marshal’s Service or Bureau of Prisons, but it was not immediately clear when or where Snipes would begin serving his time behind bars. Snipes had already lost his appeal of the prison sentence stemming from his conviction in 2008 in an Ocala, Florida, court on three misdemeanor tax charges for failing to file income tax returns for 1999 through 2001. In seeking a new trial, Snipes’ lawyer, Daniel Meachum, had argued that jurors in the original trial were biased and that the prosecution’s star witness had his own criminal problems. At his sentencing in April 2008, prosecutors said Snipes, a resident of Windermere, Florida, had earned more than $38 million since 1999 but had filed no tax returns nor paid any taxes.

Dang … 3 years is a long time … but if Wesley had started serving his sentence back when he was convicted, he’d be almost out of prison by now. Tax evasion is no joke here in the US. Don’t eff with the IRS, y’all. They don’t care how much money you have, they don’t care what your excuses are … you pay your taxes or they will throw your ass in PRISON for a long time. We may let drunk drivers get away with murder in this country, we even sometimes let murderers get away with murder in this country … but we do NOT let people get away with not paying their taxes. Believe that.
