Rihanna and Drake Nab the Most Noms
It’s that time of the year again … time when MTV makes known the artists who have been nominated to win their coveted Video Music Awards for 2012. Now, I know what you’re thinkin’ … each year, many folks (me included) tend to have a love/hate relationship with the VMAs (I mean, let’s be real … some years the show is amazing, others notsomuch). But invariably, I approach each new VMAs with a certain level of excitement because at the core, the VMAs are a fun awards show. This year, Rihanna and her homie Drake lead the way with the most VMA nominations — they each nabbed 5 noms including Video of the Year. Mad Men Didn't Get Any... J/K
Ok, remember when I did the Summer TV Guide and I promised I’d watch more TV? Well, I didn’t. Not really. Which is fine, except that I cannot offer smart and cheeky comments on most of the 2012 Emmy noms which were announced this morning! I have tried to catch some new shows (falling in love with The Newsroom and Political Animals… and, sadly, shamefully, and hopelessly addicted to Love & Hip Hop Atlana), so I’ll definitely need ya’ll to let me know if you agree with these nominations or not. Checkie out inside!

Back in May we had a glorious celebration in honor of the MTV Movie Awards with our very first Pinkies, and today we recap last night’s BET Awards in the same fashion. A helluva lot went down between G.O.O.D. Music‘s opening performance, Samuel L. Jackson and Spike Lee‘s pitch-perfect rendition of Negroes In Paris, and the Whitney Houston Tribute to end all Whitney Houston Tributes. Ah, what a night! We’ve got the best vids and a special Pinkie Award for all of these moments and more inside.

What Would You Ask Effie Trinket?
Isn’t the internet wicked cool sometimes? Elizabeth Banks (aka Effie Trinket from Hunger Games) made this announcement on her official website: “I’ll be live via the interwebz with you right here on ElizabethBanks.com at 5 pm PST today! I’m taking all of your questions about summer fashion, summer lovin’, and my film People Like Us, which comes out on June 29th.”
So at 5 pm (8 pm EST) I will most likely be asking her if she has any plans to make Zack & Miri Make A Porno sequel. Because I need that in my life.
Dear Anthony Vaccarello‘s Dresses,
I love you… and I loathe you. I love you because you are beautiful, futuristic, and dripping with intensity. I loathe you because I have no place to wear you. I’m also a size 4/6 depending on whether or not I worked out this week and I probably didn’t; and you don’t come in size 4/6, now do you? That’s okay, it’s fine, I’m fine with that. Whatever. Just stop making me wish I had a reason to buy you… and the money with which to do so. Just stop, okay?

The MTV Movie Awards are like The Academy Awards on pop, which is awesome because sometimes you wish the Oscars would relax and not take themselves so seriously. There’s this brilliant article, “What The MTV Movie Awards Get Right That The Oscars Don’t,” and it’s about how MTV honors the fun stuff that the Oscars have to forego– and we definitely need that kind of award show. We need both, in fact. While the Oscars pay tribute to the movies that change our lives, the MTV Movie Awards honor (and poke fun at) the movies that just kinda rocked our world, if only for the hell of it.
Red Carpet Glam
Last night was the 2012 MTV Movie Awards and while celebs competed for the movie trophies, the red carpet was where they really heated up the competition. Airing live from the Gibson Amphitheatre some highlight looks included Twilight’s leading lady and the star of Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart, who looked fun and dazzling in a silver Guishem dress with yellow and black accents. Her co-star, Charlize Theron also looked award winning in a Lanvin bright red dress. There was also some gorgeous abandonment of dresses in favor of sexy and head turning jumpsuits. Check out our gallery of pics from this year’s MTV Movie Awards to see who wore what and who looked the hottest. More »

New Live Performance
Yesterday we saw pics from the red carpet at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards and got to see the moving tribute to Whitney Houston and today we are turning our attention to one of the performances from the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, that of Katy Perry. Katy debuted a new song of hers, Wide Awake, at the music awards alongside a whole bunch of acrobats and aerialists. In case you missed it, check it out here, and see what you think of Katy’s new song performed live. More »
The Millennium Award
Earlier today we got to see a collection of photos of some of the attendees of the 2012 Billboard Music Awards last night but right now we turn our attention to Billboard‘s tribute to the late Whitney Houston. The Billboard Music Awards honored Houston with this year’s Millennium Award, which was presented on stage to Whitney‘s only child Bobbi Kristina Brown and Whitney‘s sister-in-law Patricia Houston. Additionally, singers John Legend and Jordin Sparks provided musical tributes to Whitney‘s memory with performances of her hit songs Greatest Love of All and I Will Always Love You.
