Geri Halliwell Suffers An Embarassing Wardrobe Malfunction

Whoops! Geri Ginger Spice Halliwell managed to have herself a very embarrassing wardrobe malfunction on the red carpet at the Children’s Bafta Awards in London, England last night. For some unknown reason, Geri managed to walk the red carpet — in front of all of the assembled press — with the bottom half of her dress ripped apart while being none the wiser. If it wasn’t for the sheer lining of the dress, the poor dear would’ve had her bare ass on full display … behold:

Oh dear, Geri. And it had all been going so well. The Spice Girl turned up to an awards ceremony looking enviably sleek and well-groomed in a ruffled red dress. In fact, with her glossy curls and understated make-up, the singer looked positively demure – a far cry from her raunchy ‘Ginger Spice’ days. And then she turned round. The 36-year-old had clearly not reckoned with the chilly winter winds on the red carpet catching one of those romantic ruffles and giving the crowds a rather revealing glimpse underneath her dress. Her unintentional peekaboo moment was all the more unfortunate as the mother-of-one was attending the Children’s Baftas … The awards, hosted this year by TV presenter Keith Chegwin, celebrate the best in children’s entertainment, from films to video games.

I mean, did no one think to tell her that her dress was ripped apart? I mean … c’mon, they even let her turn around and show off the back part of the dress as well! LOL! And how, pray tell, was she not able to feel the draft on her bare bum alerting her to the fact that her dress was ripped? What an appropriate venue to show off her almost bare bottom as well. Yikes. I hope the poor thing wasn’t mortified … even tho she’d have every right to be so. Tsk tsk.

The Bambi Awards & the 'Rolling Stone' magazine shoot
Britney Spears: Behind The Scenes

BritneySpears.com has been updated today with a few very fun behind-the-scenes photos of our dear Britney Spears preparing for her big performance at the Bambi Awards in Germany last night as well as some behind-the-scenes pics from the set of her Rolling Stone magazine photoshoot. First up, here is a very cute pic of Britney with her crew (including papa Jamie Spears, her manager Larry Rudolph, her personal assistant Brett and some dude named Jeff) hanging out at their hotel in Germany:

Aww … they look so cute but also so cold. Here are a few pics that have been posted on Britney‘s official website from the Bambi Awards last night:

Gotta love the prayer circle. Looks like the man above (or wherever) was paying attention to her pleas of support ;) After the jump, check out a few pics that were snapped on the set of her Rolling Stone magazine photoshoot …

"Not only as a phoenix but as a bird of paradise"
Britney Spears Performs, Collects Award At The Bambi Awards

Britney Spears was one of the featured performers at the 60th Annual Bambi Awards in Offenburg, Germany last night and, by pretty much all accounts, managed to pull off not only a successful live performance but a wholly entertaining one as well. Performing her hit single Womanizer, Britney turned the stage at the Bambi Awards into her own three-ring circus. Additionally, our dear Britney was honored, by trophy presenter Karl Lagerfeld, with an award of her own being named the Best International Popstar. Here are a few screencaps from Britney‘s performance last night:

Ahead of her highly anticipated visit to London this weekend, Britney Spears has cemented her comeback with a knockout performance at the 60th annual Bambi Awards in Germany. The superstar performed alongside Pink and Leona at the star studded bash, where there was a random array of award recipients including Lewis Hamilton and Meg Ryan. Britters collected an award herself for Best International Popstar and designer Karl Lagerfield was gushing when he presented the star with her award. He told her “I admire you, not only for your art but also for your energy, for your comeback not only as a phoenix but as a bird of paradise. And it’s great.” Britney’s extravagant circus inspired performance was a hit with the crowd with the superstar looking back to best in a madonna-esque outfit Earlier this week it was confirmed Spears will play two concerts at the O2 in London next June as part of her forthcoming world tour.

Woot! She looked great! The performance was well executed, well staged and perfectly timed … stage one of her European promo tour went off without a hitch. Collecting another award for her accomplishments was just the icing on the cake. Lagerfeld is right in saying that Britney is more than just a phoenix rising from the ashes … she has always been so much more than that. And it was so nice of Madonna to lend her that outfit to wear ;) After the jump, check out a few more photos of her performance, a few photos of Britney in the press room posing with her trophy and (prolly what you’re really interested in seeing) video of Britney‘s full performance …

Chris Brown, Alica Keys and 'Alvin & the Chipmunks' win awards
The 2008 American Music Awards

Last night the American Music Awards were handed out on live TV at the Nokia Theater here in Los Angeles, CA. Stars of varying importance made their way into downtown LA last night to walk the red carpet, participate in the show or mug for the cameras in the press room afterward. Chris Brown was one of the night’s big winnersKanye West was one of the night’s biggest wieners … and Beyoncé, bless her heart, gave the best live performance of the night. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals last night:

Here are a few pics from the show itself:

Here are a few pics from the press room and some deets about what went down at this years AMAs:

Chris Brown was the big winner at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, surprising himself most of all. “I don’t know what to say. I would have given it to Coldplay,” said Brown, who won artist of the year, male pop/rock artist and male soul/R&B artist. Kanye West, still sore at losing male rap/hip-hop artist last year, won the trophy this time – then said Lil Wayne deserved it more. “I want to give this award to Wayne,” he said. “If it was last year it would have been my award.” It was West’s second trophy of the night, following his win for rap/hip-hop album, for Graduation. “It’s our responsibility as musicians to push music to the point it was in the ’60s and ’70s,” he said. “I want to be Elvis.” Host Jimmy Kimmel, who had made West’s ego a running joke, quipped: “Elvis died on the toilet with half a jelly doughnut in his mouth. You may want to rethink that.”

Um, why does Kanye have to be so douchey? I mean, seriously. It’s like he just cannot stop himself from acting like a total a-hole on the public stage. I just don’t get it.

The show climaxed with Keys performing “Superwoman” with Queen Latifah and opera star Kathleen Battle, and ending with a large photo projected on a screen of incoming first lady Michelle Obama. In a big night for American Idol alums, Daughtry – winner of three trophies last year – picked up another this year for pop/rock group, while former Idol champ Jordin Sparks won for adult contemporary music, and Carrie Underwood won for country album for Carnival Ride. Taylor Swift, uncomfortably sharing L.A.’s Nokia Theatre auditorium with ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas, won for female country artist, and Rihanna got two awards for pop/rock female artist and female soul R&B artist … Music’s A-listers were out in force as the show featured blockbuster performances by Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Rihanna, West, birthday girl Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers, who also won the breakthrough artist award. And Justin Timberlake made a surprise appearance to introduce award of merit recipient Annie Lennox.

Much congrats to all the winners this year but, I gotta say, the “prestige” associated with winning an American Music Award seems to have diminished a bit — after all, the soundtrack to the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks took home an award last night.

For me, tho, the highlight was Beyoncé‘s live performance of her hit single Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It). Homegirl turned that mutha OUT! After the jump, watch video of her performance in full …

JG refutes romantic involvement with Miley Cyrus
Justin Gaston & Billy Ray Cyrus Are BFFs

Justin Gaston walked the red carpet with a Cyrus at the 42nd Annual CMA Awards this week but it wasn’t the Cyrus you might’ve guessed. Justin accompanied papa Billy Ray Cyrus down the red carpet, letting 15-year old Miley Cyrus walk the red carpet alone … which was very apropos since Justin was telling anyone who asked that he IS NOT Miley‘s boyfriend and is merely a “Cyrus family friend”. Uh huh. Here’s a lovely pic of Justin and Billy Ray (looking particularly tragic in this ridic outfit … especially in comparison to Justin in all his beauty) mugging for the cameras on the CMA Awards red carpet this week:

Miley Cyrus has been spotted everywhere recently with model and aspiring singer Justin Gaston, but the 20-year-old former “Nashville Star” contestant denies having a relationship with the 15-year-old Disney star. “Oh, just family friend, you know,” Gaston said at the CMA Awards on Wednesday night. “I met Billy Ray on the show and just became friends with the whole family. And they’re such a great family,” Gaston continued. “I moved (to LA) two years ago and started a modeling career and that’s kind of just to break into the music business and everything.” Justin may have an affinity for older women. The model/singer commented on fellow CMA attendee Nicole Kidman, telling Access, “She’s beautiful, especially in person. Maybe I’ll meet her,” he added.

And mebbe he’ll move in with her and start hanging out almost exclusively with her daughter Sunday Rose? Nah … JG might like ‘em young but I think that might be taking things a bit too far … besides, I think he’s having too much fun hanging out with little Miss Miley. After the jump, check out a photo that shows just how much fun the couple likes to have together …

Britney Spears a big winner again
The 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards

Last night the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards were handed out in Liverpool, England to some very deserving folks … many of whom weren’t European at all. American music acts had a very good night at the MTV EMAs last night, including our dear Britney Spears who won two awards at the awards show — Best Act and one of the biggest prizes of the night, Best Album. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals and the show itself:

American pop artists dominated the MTV Europe Music Awards last night (Oct. 6) at Liverpool Echo Arena, and the performers and winners were also keen to bask in President-elect Barack Obama’s election victory. Britney Spears sent a video acceptance for her two awards: best album for “Blackout” (Jive/Sony BMG) and best act of 2008. Host Katy Perry, whose costumes included an Obama-print dress, won the new act gong. “I want a recount,” she said. “The host can’t win.” Perry also opened the show sitting astride a giant chapstick during a performance of “I Kissed a Girl.” Pink collected the first award of the night, taking most addictive track for “So What” (LaFace/Sony BMG). California rock act 30 Seconds To Mars won the rock out award and the video star award for “A Beautiful Lie” (Virgin). The awards were voted for online by fans across Europe. “This has been a really exciting week for us Americans,” said frontman Jared Leto, who got the crowd to chant “Congrats Barack.” There was also recognition for a Liverpool’s most famous musician, with Bono presenting the ultimate legend award to Sir Paul McCartney. “This is the man who invented my job,” said the U2 singer. Bono was also jeered when he said the Beatles would have been Irish, if the Irish potato famine hadn’t driven their ancestors to Britain. “I’ve got to thank my mates Ringo, George and John,” said McCartney. “Many years ago, four little boys born here in Liverpool — and we went on to do quite well.” McCartney also thanked people in the U.S. for “voting in Mr. Obama.” The Liverpool crowd gave a warm reception to U.K. acts who performed, including Take That, the Ting Tings and Duffy. U.K. urban artist Estelle joined Kanye West for their first major awards show collaboration on “American Boy,” featuring a ticker-tape finale with an image of Obama on the giant screen. Eighties pop act Rick Astley was the unlikely winner of the best act ever, following a viral Internet campaign that raised his profile in the past year. Other performers included the Killers, Kid Rock, Beyonce, Pink and local indie rock act the Wombats, who covered Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love.” Perry closed the show with a performance of “Hot N Cold.”

Um, Rick Astley? Seriously? Can I just say … FREAKIN’ AWESOME! I can’t even front, I was a huge Rick Astley fan back in the day. His debut album came out right around the time Kylie Minogue‘s debut album was released here in the States and I was in love with them both. Obvs, Kylie ended up with the more stellar career but I’m very happy to see that Rick Astley can still inspire so much lurve from the World to win the Best Act of All Time award :) Congrats, Ricky!!

Because Britney was here in LA performing with Madonna on stage at Dodger Stadium last night, she was not able to be on hand in person to collect her awards in Liverpool last night … she did manage to offer a pre-taped thank you speech that was filmed on the set of her new music video for her song Circus. Here is a screencap of Britney‘s acceptance speech:

After the jump, check out video of Britney‘s pre-taped acceptance speech as well as Beyoncé‘s live performance of If I Was A Boy

Oh, the horror!
The 2008 Spike ‘Scream’ Awards Are Handed Out

Spike TV culled together various celebrities from the world of horror, sci-fi, superherodom and more to their annual Scream Awards which were held this year at the Greek Theater here in LA last night. Each year, Spike gives out awards that honor achievement in comics, fantasy, horror and sci-fi because, well, who else is gonna do it? Here are a few pics of some of the folks who came out to strut their stuff on the red carpet at the 2008 Spike Scream Awards last night:

Even tho the awards were handed out at the Greek Theater last night, we’re gonna hafta wait until the show airs on Spike at 9PM on Tuesday night. So, if you’re interested to know who took home awards in the categories of Best Science Fiction Movie, Best Villain, Most Memorable Mutilation, Holy S@#$! Scene of the Year and more then you’re gonna hafta tune on Tuesday night. I will say that Julie Benz (Dexter/Saw V actress who was nominated for Best Actress: Horror Movie or TV Show) looked utterly amazing on the red carpet. Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez made a supercute couple and Gary Oldman just rules the world. It should be noted that Smashing Pumpkins performed live at the awards last night so … it might be worth checking out. Now, I have no idea who won what but I am rootin’ for Ms. Benz to win her award. I can’t wait to watch the show to see if she ended up walking home with her very own Spike Scream Award.

In, what is being described as, possibly the worst Emmy Awards ceremony ever
The 60th Annual Emmy Awards Are Handed Out

Last night the 60th Annual Emmy Awards were given out for outstanding achievement in television at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, CA. I was not able to watch the show myself, since I am currently in Reykjavik, Icelancd on holiday, but the reviews are in and I understand the show itself was pretty unwatchable. Despite the shortcomings of this year’s Emmy Awards show, the whole reason for the shindig in the first place is to hand out awards to some very deserving folks … oh, and for the fashions on the red carpet. Here are a few pics of some of the folks who strutted their stuff down the red carpet last night:

Christina Applegate looked stunning on the red carpet, I’m so glad to see her looking so well. Heidi Klum and Julie Benz also looked pretty amazing … I threw in David Boreanaz so that there could be a little bit of Angel/Darla love going on here. I liked Brooke Shields‘s pink dress and I thought Kathy Griffin picked out a nice wig to wear for the event. Here are a few pics of some of the winners in the Emmy Awards press room backstage … I also threw in some non-winners as well, cuz they were brave enough to pose for pics without having actually won anything last night:

The sleek ’60s drama “Mad Men” made Emmy history Sunday as the first basic-cable show to win a top series award, while the sitcom “30 Rock” and its stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin also emerged as big winners. “We’re all so very grateful to have jobs in this turkey-burger economy,” Fey said after accepting the best comedy series trophy for her satire about a late-night TV show. “This is the greatest job I’ve ever had in my life,” Baldwin said of his role an a network executive. He paid tribute to Fey, the NBC show’s star and creator, as “the Elaine May of her generation.” “I thank my parents for somehow raising me to have confidence that is disproportionate with my looks and abilities. Well done. That is what all parents should do,” said Fey, who also won for best actress and writing in a comedy series. Emmy voters rewarded quality, not ratings: Many of the winners draw relatively small audiences. AMC’s “Mad Men,” which looks at America through the prism of Madison Avenue, is lucky to get 2 million viewers. Glenn Close of FX’s “Damages” and Bryan Cranston of AMC’s “Breaking Bad” captured drama acting trophies. Close, honored for her portrayal of a ruthless attorney, complimented her fellow nominees, including Holly Hunter and Sally Field. “We’re proving that complicated, powerful, mature women are sexy in high entertainment and can carry a show,” she said. “I call us the sisterhood of the TV drama divas.” Cranston won the trophy for his role of a desperate man who turns to making drugs. Dianne Wiest of “In Treatment” and Zeljko Ivanek of “Damages” won supporting acting honors for the drama series. Jean Smart of ABC’s “Samantha Who?” was honored as best supporting actress in a comedy series, with Jeremy Piven her actor counterpart for “Entourage.” Piven took aim at the five reality hosts who helped open the ceremony in what could charitably called a rambling way, saying, “What if I just kept talking for 12 minutes — what would happen? That was the opening.” The crowd at the 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards laughed heartily, not a good sign for the hosts, who included Ryan Seacreast of “American Idol.” … Jeff Probst of “Survivor,” one of the ceremony’s masters of ceremonies, claimed the first award for best reality series host. “We feel honored to be part of this family. Thank you for letting reality in,” he said … HBO’s “John Adams,” about the founding father, was named best miniseries and won other awards including acting trophies for Paul Giamatti, Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson. The historical drama set a record for most awards, 13, including five trophies Sunday and eight previously announced. The record of 11 was held by HBO’s “Angels in America,” the TV academy said. HBO was the most-honored network, with 26 awards earned Sunday and at the creative arts ceremony held earlier this month. ABC was second with 12 awards, followed by CBS, NBC and PBS with 10 each; AMC with eight, Showtime with five and Fox with four.

Felicitations and congratulations go out to all of this year’s Emmy Award winners … but I am struggling to find nice things to say about last night’s award show. Since I didn’t get to see it for myself, I have to rely on what others are reporting … and none of it is good. After the jump, check out some of the scathing yet funny bad reviews of last night’s 60th Annual Emmy Awards — believe me, some of them are deffo worth checking out …

... and Slimy
Dannii Minogue Goes Green

Dannii Minogue was on hand in the UK this weekend host (and possibly accept an award on behalf of her TV series X-Factor) the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards UK … naturally, the folks at Nickelodeon took the opportunity to dump gallons of slime on the lovely Ms. Minogue:

Dannii was coated in the gunk as she hosted the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards UK today at London’s Excel centre. In her purple and silver frock and designer heels Kylie’s little sister looked every inch the glamorous pop star when she arrived at the event. But onstage her composure was shattered when a pool of green sludge rained down on her. The 36-year-old screamed and raised her clenched fists in horror, before setting her jaw in a clenched scowl. Ironically when Dannii had earlier told reporters that she hoped to see fellow X Factor judge Simon Cowell get gunged. “I’d slime Simon of course,” she said. “But could he handle it? Or would we finally see Mr Nasty lose his cool on TV? We’ll have to wait and see.” The X Factor is up for a gong at the awards, which will be screened air on September 20. It faces Doctor Who, Britain’s Got Talent and Harry Hill’s TV Burp for Favourite Winner prize.

Now, y’all know that Dannii is my girl so I had to take the opportunity to spread the word about her slimy weekend ;) This country is seriously devoid of Minogueness so there is no chance that I’ll be able to watch Dannii‘s hosting performance when the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards airs in the UK later on this month … I guess I’ll have to make do with these amazingly fun pics ;)

Jesus gets no love, Jimmy Kimmel does
Kathy Griffin, Sarah Silverman Win Emmy Awards

Woot! Kathy Griffin has done it again! Sarah Silverman has done it … er, for the first time! Both funny ladies walked away from the 60th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards which was held at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, CA last night. Kathy won for her outstanding work on her hit Bravo reality TV show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List and Sarah won for her rousing music video I’m Fucking Matt Damon. Here are pics of the lovely ladies with their shiny new trophies in the press room at last night’s Creative Emmy Awards:

Kathy Griffin might need to consider adding another member to her staff just to carry around her Emmy awards. The comedian won her second Emmy on Saturday, picking up the trophy for best reality program for her Bravo hit My Life On the D-List. And, true to form, she delivered another memorable – and bleepable – acceptance speech. “Well, well, well! Here we go again, f—–ers,” Griffin said, gamely accepting the award at the Creative Arts Emmys held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. “I’m not going to tell anyone to suck it,” she said, referencing her speech from 2007 in which she infamously told Jesus to “suck it.” “I would make love to this thing if I could.” … Griffin was also nominated for a stand up comedy special, though she lost the award to Don Rickles, with whom she is presenting an award at the Primetime Emmys next weekend. “Can you believe it? I’m in heaven,” she said of presenting with Rickles. “It’s what should have been the Obama/Hillary ticket of comedy. I’m very excited about that and being with him and standing next to him. I just love him.”

Sarah Silverman may have won an Emmy award for a song boasting of a romance with Matt Damon, but it was her ex-boyfriend, Jimmy Kimmel, whom the comedian thanked from the stage. “Let’s be honest, Matt Damon had very little to do with this being popular,” Silverman, 37, said while accepting her award at the Creative Arts Emmys for the salty music video “I’m Fucking Matt Damon” at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. “Thanks to the person for whom this whole video was made: Jimmy Kimmel, who broke my heart – ohh, who’ll always have a place in my heart,” Silverman continued. The video, written and recorded for Jimmy Kimmel Live nabbed two awards – best original music and lyrics and a picture-editing award – at the Saturday show … While she has not spoken at length publicly about the split, in August, Silverman made a reference to her break-up during a comedy gig at West Hollywood’s Largo at the Coronet, telling the crowd, “Did someone tell you I’m going through a hard time?” In her speech Saturday, Silverman also thanked her cowriters and joked, “this makes all the, ‘Hey, I’m fucking Matt Damon, too,’ totally worth it.” The Creative Arts Emmys air on E! Saturday Sept. 20. The Primetime Emmys air on ABC Sept. 21.

Aww … I love it. Kathy is really funny on her show, I’m glad she keeps winning. To be honest, I’m actually very surprised that Sarah won her award. I was fairly certain that the Television Academy who votes for these awards wouldn’t deem a music video titled I’m Fucking Matt Damon worthy of such a prestigious award … I guess comedy does win out in the end … and I guess the Academy isn’t as stuffy as I previously believed. Much congrats and love goes out to both Kathy and Sarah on their amazing wins! I totally believe they are both well deserved.
