'Winter' is Coming

Last week we learned that the first chapter of George R. R. Martin‘s new book The Winds of Winter has been released ahead of the book’s publication and today we get, not only, to see the book cover for Winds of Winter but we also learn that another chapter of the book has been released. Martin has been sharing excerpts from the book on one of his official websites (his Livejournal, actually) and has announced that a new chapter is out. Entertainment Weekly has released the cover art for the book, which I assume will be out at some point later this year. George R. R. Martin Discusses The Possibility Of A ‘Game Of Thrones’ Movie

"It might need a feature to tie things up."

We know that the plan is for HBO to end Game of Thrones after 7 seasons but according to author George R. R. Martin, there exists the possibility that a feature-length film may be necessary to tie up the A Song of Ice and Fire saga once and for all. Martin spoke to The Hollywood Reporter ahead of the season 4 premiere of Game of Thrones in NYC earlier this week and revealed that there is talk about the possibility of a GoT movie somewhere down the line. Obviously, nothing has been decided yet … but you have to admit that it is exciting to think about maybe getting to see our fave Game of Thrones characters on the big screen. More »

Anne Rice Reveals Her Picks For Actors To Play The Vampire Lestat On Film

"the handsome actors and charmers"

Early last week we learned that author Anne Rice has written a new installment of her famed Vampire Chronicles that will be released this October. After a long hiatus, Rice is resurrecting her most famous character Lestat in a new novel titled Prince Lestat. On her official Facebook page, Anne asked of her fans who they think would be able to aptly portray the vampire on screen in a new film (he was previously played by Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire and Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned). Anne seemed to love all of the suggestions by fans but she couldn’t resist offering up her own personal picks of actors who she thinks could play the role. Click below to see the 3 actors that Anne Rice thinks would make a great Lestat and see how impeccable her taste is in shirtless men. More »

Anne Rice Resumes ‘The Vampire Chronicles’ With The Release Of Her Next Book

'Prince Lestat'

After the huge success of her series of vampire novels based around her iconic character Lestat, Anne Rice decided to put aside that part of her work so that she could focus on more religious subject matter for her books. She wrote about the life of Jesus Christ and wrote novels about angels but I always hoped that she would return to the supernatural subject matter that she always wrote so well. In recent years, Rice has written about werewolves and I guessed that she may, one day, return to the world of vampires. Last night, on her son Christopher Rice‘s weekly podcast The Dinner Party Show, Anne Rice revealed to the world that she is releasing a new chapter in her Vampire Chronicles. The new novel, Prince Lestat, will be out this October! More »

Everything Is Awesome

The TV Guide

On Sundays I usually do my work by day, relax and chill by afternoon and sometimes go out and see a movie by night (or stay in and watch TV on the couch). My Sunday yesterday was unusual in that I spent 90% of it out and about running all over town hanging out with some of my amazing friends. I met up with Jordan for a LONG overdue brunch before I made my way out to Santa Monica to attend an afternoon lecture/workshop hosted by author Sharon Salzberg (who I met the night before at an intimate booksigning). Late in the afternoon I met up with a longtime friend who I’ve known for years but only just finally got around to hanging out with in person … we then made our way to the Cinefamily movie theater for a private screening of my friend Tamar’s short film It’s Okay. After a short reception after the screening, I met up with some friends in Century City to see The Lego Movie. It was go go go all day long but it was also fun fun and MORE fun the whole time. E.L. James Teases The Possibility Of A 4th Book In The ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Series

I'm gonna guess that more books are on the way

Author E.L. James was asked by a fan on Twitter if she is planning to write a 4th book to follow her hugely successful Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy and altho she did not officially confirm that a new book may be on the way, she teased the possibility enough to give fans something to pin their hopes on. With a major motion picture adaptation on the way and continued brisk book sales of the original books, I have a very good feeling that plans are in the works to carry on the Fifty Shades franchise for some time to come. Click below to read what James had to say about the possibility of a new Fifty Shades book. More »

Real Happiness

The TV Guide

Last night my friend Lisa took me as her guest to a book signing/discussion event hosted by the amazing Sharon Salzberg. Salzberg is a much-beloved teacher and author who has touched the lives of so many with her insights about meditation and mindfulness. Her book Real Happiness is a fantastic introduction to her teachings on meditation (which I became interested in last year at the suggestion of my friend Tamar) so I was very interested in hearing her discuss her new book Real Happiness at Work. The gathering was held at a private residence so it was an intimate way to hear Sharon speak and offered the opportunity to talk with her one on one. More »

The ‘American Gods’ TV Series Is Still In The Works

No longer at HBO, 'Gods' will be produced by Freemantle

Back in June of 2011, we learned that the Neil Gaiman novel American Gods was being developed into a TV series for HBO. Since that time, the plan to bring Gods to the small screen languished and then seemed to wither away. Today we learn the very good news that the project is still very much alive. American Gods is no longer in the hands of HBO and is now being produced by Freemantle Entertainment (the company that produces American Idol and The Tomorrow People on The CW) so it’s still headed for our small screens. As a huge Gaiman fan, I am very happy to learn that the project is still very much alive. More »
