New parents Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz made their way to Pure nightclub in Las Vegas, NV this week to host the club’s annual New Year’s Eve party (a job that Britney Spears held just a couple of New Year’s Eves ago) for a gaggle of fellow NYE revelers. At the shindig, Ashlee revealed to US Weekly magazine that her newborn son Bronx Mowgli “laughed for the first time”, most likely mistaking that the baby was prolly just gassy and not necessarily in a laughing mood. Ashlee Simpson-Wentz calls six-week-old son Bronx Mowgli “perfect. “He laughed for the first time,” Simpson-Wentz told Usmagazine.com while hosting a New Year’s Eve party at Pure nightclub in Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. “That was pretty exciting.” Simpson-Wentz says her New Year’s resolution revolves around her newborn. “All my focus is on my son. Every day, being a better mom and learning with him. It’s an incredible experience,” she told Us. And she’s working on her post-baby body. “I just started exercising again,” Simpson Wentz told Us. “It’s fun. I do it at my house.” (She even stuck to her diet plan on New Year’s. Simpson-Wentz fed her husband two bites of cake as the clock struck midnight, but wasn’t spotted indulging in any herself.) “I think being the mother of a new son is exercise unto itself,” added husband Pete Wentz, who earlier revealed to Howard Stern that his wife weighed 150 pounds when carrying Bronx. Simpson Wentz also aims to ” go back in the studio [to] start working. Not quite yet, but soon,” in 2009.

Aww … I just love the thought of Ashlee and Pete as parents. I can only imagine what the learning curve is for these two but I’m sure they’re figuring things out with each passing day. You will note that Pete is sportin’ a splint on his finger in these photos, I wonder what happened and I hope that it doesn’t interfere with his Fall Out Boy duties. Methinks that 2009 is going to be a good one for the Simpson-Wentz family. I wouldn’t be surprised if the couple decided to add another little bundle of joy to their expanding fam … they seem like the kind of folks that would book back-to-back babies.

New dad and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy debuted a new art show at Gallery 1988 here in LA last night and managed to lure a few family and friends out for the event. Titled Without You I’m Just Me, the exhibit is a collaboration of works between Pete Wentz, Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes and several other LA based artists such as Greg Simkins and Jeff McMillan. Here are a couple pics of Pete making his entrance last night with wife and new mom Ashlee Simpson (her second public appearance in two days) and Jessica Simpson with her BFF and hairstylist Ken Paves:

I’m told that a portion of the proceeds from the art show’s painting, print and catalogue sales will benefit Invisible Children, an incredible charity working closely with Pete to better the living conditions in northern Uganda. Gallery 1998 is at 7020 Melrose Ave. (on the corner of Melrose and La Brea) and the exhibit will run until December 24.

Yesterday morning we learned from Pete Wentz himself that he had to cancel an appearance on CNN Friday night due to an unforeseen “scheduling conflict” and it was widely speculated that the conflict was that his wife, the heavily pregs Ashlee Simpson, had gone into labor to give birth to their first child. So, one might expect that Ashlee would’ve given birth by now, right? Notsofast … Pete updated his official blog yesterday afternoon and talked about the smell of smoke in LA (due to the wildfires burning just north of Los Angeles) and made ZERO mention of Ashlee or the baby. Here is the pic that Pete posted on his blog and the full text of his most recent blogpost:

my house smells like a fire. me and jensen were driving back from china town and there were police in riot gear on sunset. is this where we are? fucking nuts.

Just because Pete did not mention any baby news doesn’t mean that the baby wasn’t born … mebbe he’s deliberately keeping mum so that the media scrutiny will be waylaid for a few days. Incidentally, I believe the police force that Pete was talking about (and posted a photo of) were in “riot gear” in order to keep the peace as the Proposition 8 protesters took to the streets of LA yesterday. I understand the LAPD was amazingly supportive and did a great job ensuring that the protesters were allowed to peaceably and safely take their protests thru the streets of Los Angeles.

But I digress … Life & Style magazine is reporting that Ashlee did, in fact, go into labor on Friday night citing an alleged text message that Pete sent to all of his friends (and Pete‘s blogpost from Friday night):

The moment is finally here: Ashlee’s having her baby! “Pete texted his friends last night that Ashlee is in labor!” an insider tells Life & Style. Plus, Pete posted Friday on his blog that he would have to cancel an interview that was intended to take place on Saturday night. “Due to breaking news and scheduling conflicts I will not be appearing on Larry King Live tonight,” he blogged. Best wishes for a safe delivery and congrats to the happy couple!

It seems likely that Ashlee did go into labor and just as likely that she has already given birth but until we get official confirmation, I guess we’ll just have to wait before sending our congrats. I hope it won’t be long until we hear of the arrival of the Ashl33n baby.

Father-to-be and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, who was due to appear live on CNN‘s Larry King Live show last night to discuss his opposition to the passage of Proposition 8 in California, had to cancel his appearance and immediately posted an announcement on his official websites (HERE and HERE) explaining why he was unable to appear on Larry King Live:

due to breaking news and scheduling conflicts i will not be appearing on larry king live tonight, though i am a big fan of the show and look forward to appearing on it in the future. i also look forward to the chance to continue supporting civil rights and speaking out against the passing of proposition 8 and others like it (im looking at you arizona and florida) whenever and wherever i can.

Due to the timing of this “breaking news” it is believed that Pete pulled out of his Larry King Live appearance POSSIBLY due to the fact that his heavily pregs wife Ashlee Simpson went into labor and MAY have given birth to their first child:

At this point, there is no further information or confirmation at all that Ashlee gave birth … or even went into labor … but it seems very likely that that was the “scheduling conflict” that came up at the last minute. Here’s hoping that things are going well for Ashl33n and that I can soon announce the birth of their bouncing baby boy or girl.

Now that Nicole Kidman has done birthed her baby this morning, our celebrity bump watch list is down one … but we still have a couple of imminent births to look foward to (Angelina Jolie and Gwen Stefani) and, of course, we’re still months away from the birth of Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz‘s firstborn child. And speaking of … here are a few pics of Ashl33n doing a bit of bargain shopping at the Hollywood Flea Market yesterday afternoon:

I’m still pretty amazed at how fast Ashlee‘s tummy ballooned … one day she wasn’t showing any sign of a baby bump and then seemingly overnight she started looking like she was smuggling a watermelon underneath her shirt. Pregs or not, tho, both Ashlee and Pete are still pretty emo-goth ’til they die … how else can you explain the black outfits in the blistering California heat? Not only is their baby going to be born with eyeliner already applied but they’ll prolly wrap the little darling in black diapers from Goths R Us. It is still so crazy to imagine these two as actual parents … kids grow up so fast, don’t they?

Pete Wentz has updated his official blog at FriendsorEnemies.com with the news that he and wife Ashlee Simpson have just added a new member to their growing family. The couple adopted a 10 week old baby girl named Rigby … and here she is:

Hem would be Pete‘s dog Hemmingway (who was just made into a birthday cake for Pete‘s birthday). Could little Rigby be a way for Ashl33n to practice their parenting skills now that they are expecting a baby of their own? Could be. I will say this for the happy fam, they really did get themselves an adorable new pooch. Mazal Tov! and much Congrats! to the entire Ashl33n family.

The newly wedded Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were spotted making their way thru LAX airport earlier this week with an extra special third party making a bold appearance. Here are a few pics of Ashl33n proudly showing off their emerging baby bump as they made their way thru the terminal and thru the security checkpoint:

No word on where the happy couple was jetting off to (I’m sure they’ll pop up soon enough, maybe in NYC) but they looked pleased as pie to be showing off their little bump. I suspect Papa Joe Simpson is pleased as well … to him, that bump represents beaucoup bucks once the child is born. But despite his grossness, I am very happy for Ashl33n and the coming birth of their child.

While the happy and in love Jessimo spent part of their weekend at the grocery store, newlyweds Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz spent part of their weekend at the movies (looks like the Arc Light theater) checking out the new M. Night Shyamalan travesty The Happening. Here are a couple pics of the couple as they made their mad dash thru the theater lobby:

From what I understand, The Happening is just a horribly bad movie of epic proportions. Steph and Alek saw the film and, altho they thought the concept was intriguing, felt the movie suffered from poor acting, poor writing and poor directing. Sounds about right for an M. Night Shyamalan movie. That man lost me for good when he put out Lady in the Water so I have zero interest in seeing this film. I shant risk spoiling the concept for those of you who (at your own peril) still might want to see this movie … but if and when you see it, remember that I tried to warn you. I say, go see The Incredible Hulk instead … it’s a brills superhero movie worthy of your time and money. I dunno who was responsible between Ashl33n for picking the movie this weekend but I suspect they won’t be doing the movie picking for the rest of their marriage.

The newly wed Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III celebrated his 29th birthday in style last night at a semi-private birthday party that was held in the VIP area of the Foxtail nightclub that was thrown in his honor by famed LA partyplanner Brent Bolthouse. Pete and his new wife Ashlee Simpson have announced that the couple are pregs with their first child … but that didn’t keep Ash away from the festivities. Here are pics of the happy couple as they made their way into Pete‘s party last night:

So to ring in Pete’s last year before turning 30 — and maybe his last big party before he has to start changing diapers — nightlife maven Brent Bolthouse arranged for a private party for the couple in the exclusive upstairs VIP area at his hot Hollywood club Foxtail, where the newlyweds — Pete in an all-black tuxedo-ish getup, Ashlee in a sleeveless ruffled dress and ankle boots — arrived around 9:45pm in a stretch limo. Even though there was Secret-Service-style security on-hand, with bouncers laser-scanning VIP wristbands and extra muscle men circulating around the club, that didn’t stop the mom-and-pop-to-be from spending most of the party downstairs, away from their invite-only guests upstairs. “Pete and Ash worked the dining room,” one clubgoer tells OK!. “They were walking from table to table, chatting and shaking hands.” Maybe Pete is making a bid for the Vice Presidency? Pete and his still-blushing bride eventually settled at a long table with eight friends who were eating and drinking the night away. “They didn’t sip a drop of alcohol,” one insider says about Pete and Ashlee. “Though I can’t say the same for their guests!” At the stroke of midnight, waiters brought out a birthday cake, with “Happy 29th Birthday Pete” written on it, to the table while the crowd sang “Happy Birthday.” The pop-punker had a bit of trouble when he attempted to blow out his candles, requiring three attempts and accidentally dowsing the front of his suit jacket with icing. Around 1am, it was time for the couple to call it a night, as they exited out the front door and into their awaiting limo, which took them back home.What a sweet and pretty picture. I love the clarification that neither Pete nor Ashlee touched any of the free-flowing booze that was readily available at last night’s party … they surely don’t want anyone forgetting that Ashlee is pregs. No word on whether or not Pete‘s new BFF John Mayer was in the hiz last night but I’m sure that good ol’ Petey wasn’t wanting for friendly companionship at his party.
