Not for nothin’ but I think they look so much better with the masks on … not because they’re unattractive people (cuz they’re not) but because they look so much more fun with the masks on. It would be fabulously fun if more celebs played around with the photogs in this way … imagine how much fun both they and we would have! Oh how I wish that everyday was Hallowe’en … that would rule so hard.

I think this move to NYC will be good for them. Ashlee can do her thang on Broadway, Pete can mind his club Angels and Kings and little Bronx can get a taste of arguable the greatest city in the world. If you follow Pete Wentz on Twitter, you know he refers to his son as “little dude” which is crazy cute … he and his family seem really happy these days. Now that that Melrose Place mess is a thing of the past, they can move forward away from SoCal and in the loving arms of the City that Never Sleeps.

Really, who needs a show that’s going to evict you after just 12 episodes? Certainly not Ashlee Simpson-Wentz! The former inhabitant of Melrose Place moved into her new home on Broadway officially last night, making her debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre. Of course, the star’s unfamiliar territory was made a bit more cozy given that she performed the role in London’s West End. And her star-studded support system in the audience didn’t hurt either. Husband Pete Wentz and sister Jessica Simpson were sitting with papa Joe and mom Tina with figurative bells on. “I’ve looked forward to this moment since I watched her own the stage in London,” Jessica tweeted. (Obviously, the long-running musical isn’t as “crappy” as a certain CW show). “Roxie was all Heart! Watching her up on that grandiose stage made me the proudest sister in the world.” Pete was downright nervous for his baby mama’s big moment. “When I get nervous I jitterbug and dance inside my head,” he tweeted. “It doesn’t matter what you’re, saying it just sounds like the Black Eyed Peas to me.”

Welp, if you can’t make it on TV it makes sense that you heed the call if Broadway comes calling. Ash is very lucky that she already played the part in London because, I’m sure, it make her transition to Broadway all that much easier. Even still, I’m sure all the supportive folks in the audience helped her out immensely. I have yet to find a review of Ashlee’s performance last night but I understand she did a great job in London and I have every reason to assume that she did a great job last night as well. Here’s hoping Ashlee has a nice, long run on Broadway with this gig … it’d be a shame if she got axed after 12 performances like she did on Melrose Place, wouldn’t it?

If you read the tabloids, you probably think Jessica Simpson is overweight and unable to stop crying and her sister, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, is on the brink of divorce. Both sisters were at Wet Republic on Saturday and demonstrated that you really can’t believe everything you read in the tabloids: Jessica Simpson looked great and her little sister seemed to be very much in love. While supermarket rags claim the seniormost Simpson sister is distraught, insecure and overweight after losing both her boyfriend and her dog, the 29-year-old looked great and was all smiles at the MGM Grand yesterday. Still, supermarket tabloids suggest otherwise. Jessica Simpson was on the cover of Us Weekly last week. “Jessica falls to pieces,” the cover story announced, along with other details of her alleged “meltdown.” “Crying all the time, unable to lose weight and feeling alone, she tells friends she wants Tony back,” it claimed. A week earlier, In Touch ran what they claimed to me an “exclusive” cover story on Sept. 21 that called the singer “desperate.” “Jessica humiliates herself by reuniting with the man who betrayed her,” it charged. “Is she doing it because Nick is back with Vanessa and Tony’s flaunting a new blond girlfriend?” Furthering the attack, People.com ran a story on Sept. 21 declaring, “Friends Worry About Jessica Simpson’s ‘Tailspin’.” “After losing her beloved Maltipoo Daisy to a coyote attack, Jessica Simpson may be at the lowest point of her life,” the story began. The story quoted a source saying, “She won’t leave her parents’ house.” Yet Simpson was very much out of the house yesterday, and was dancing and singing along to the music as she made her way down the staircase to pose for the photographers who were waiting for her along Wet Republic’s blue carpet. Granted, dark sunglasses concealed her eyes and she declined to speak to reporters — but the blonde seemed to be in good spirits, despite it all. What’s more, contrary to stories that claim the singer has packed on the pounds since she and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo went their separate ways, Simpson looked fit and fabulous in her high heels, a bikini and a stylish, sheer cover-up. Her sister, meanwhile, surprised pool partiers after posing alongside her sister, then retreating out of sight, only to return seconds later with husband Pete Wentz. Instead of having a girls’ weekend in Las Vegas, the Fall Out Boy rocker took a break from his tour to be with his wife on her birthday. So much for the couple wanting to take some time off. Yet Star Magazine suggested on Friday that the couple was definitely on the outs and hinted at a possible off-camera affair on the set of Simpson Wentz’s show. “Ashlee is giddy over Colin (Egglesfield),” Star said, and “her husband is jealous.” “The two have been fighting worse than ever,” the story claimed. The story cited a so-called “’Melrose’ set source” as saying, “On a few occasions, she broke down in sobs after angry phone calls.” Yet Egglesfield seemed to be the furthest thing from Simpson-Wentz’ mind yesterday; her real-life hubby was the only one she was being “overly flirty” with at MGM Grand. “I’m very happy in the moment I’m in,” she told the Sun. “My whole family’s here … the whole nine yards. It’s good to celebrate this with everyone.” In addition to her husband and big sister, her 10-month-old son, Bronx Mowgli; mother, Tina Simpson; and notorious father/manager, Joe Simpson, came to Las Vegas yesterday to mark her birthday. After what proved to be a whirlwind year, the petite brunette said she had a lot to celebrate. “I had such a great year … it was definitely the best year of my life, “ she said. “I had, you know, a child and got married.” She and Wentz tied the knot last May and welcomed their son in November. The young family traveled together and came to Las Vegas for the poolside birthday bash. “I came in today from tour, I’ve been on the road with my husband,” Simpson-Wentz said. The 25-year-old was only here for the day, but did her best “to relax and enjoy (her) friends and family” during the brief trip.

I have to say, I’m happy that Ashlee had herself a nice birthday and I’m also happy to see that reports of Jessica’s meltdown seem to have been greatly exaggerated. To be honest, it’s impossible for Jess to have suffered so much loss and not fall apart just a little bit … so it’s good to hear that she is getting out and moving on. I LOVE Ashlee on Melrose Place … she plays kooky/crazy Violet very well and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for that character. It sounds like Ashlee had herself a very nice birthday and that Jessica will live to see another day. Clearly it was a great weekend for the Simpson sisters!!

Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz are keeping their mouths shut for gay marriage. The couple are the latest celebs to take part in NOH8, a campaign supporting efforts to overturn Proposition 8. They were shot by photographer Adam Bouska on Monday with the campaign’s signature look: “NOH8″ painted on their cheeks and duct tape over their mouths as a symbol of the pro-gay voices not being heard. Ashlee also holds a wedding veil in the pic. Which other rocker was in the studio with them? Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus also posed for NOH8. Like the Wentzes, Hoppus took part in the big Hollywood rally and protest shortly after the California Supreme Court upheld the ban on same-sex unions. “My son asked me one time, ‘Some guys have girlfriends and some girls have boyfriends, but do boys sometimes have boyfriends?’ ” Hoppus told us at the rally. “I said, ‘Yeah, all kinds of people love different kinds of people. And that’s the world we live in.’ ” Bouska launched NOH8 with his partner Jeff Parshley in November after the passage of Prop 8. Shanna Moakler and a gaggle of other former beauty queen titleholders posed for the campaign shortly after the Miss California Carrie Prejean controversy erupted in April.

While there has been much progress in the fight for marriage equality thus far (particularly in the New England States and Iowa), there is still so much work to be done. No word on if Ashl33n plan to take little Bronx to his namesake burrough but it looks like he’s getting to see a lot of Manhattan. I’m amazed at how big that little guy has gotten … and those cheeks KILL ME. He’s so cute.

As far as I can tell, this trip across the pond is Bronx’s first to Europe and is most definitely the little guys first trip to the UK. It’s hard to tell if the little man is hiding flat-ironed hair underneath that little cap but my guess is … yeah, he is. It’s hard to believe that Ashlee’s newborn baby is already so big … it won’t be long until we see photos of Bronx taking his first steps. He’s a little doll, ain’t he? I hope we’ll get to see more photos of the happy family as they make their way around the UK on this getaway.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz calls six-week-old son Bronx Mowgli “perfect. “He laughed for the first time,” Simpson-Wentz told Usmagazine.com while hosting a New Year’s Eve party at Pure nightclub in Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. “That was pretty exciting.” Simpson-Wentz says her New Year’s resolution revolves around her newborn. “All my focus is on my son. Every day, being a better mom and learning with him. It’s an incredible experience,” she told Us. And she’s working on her post-baby body. “I just started exercising again,” Simpson Wentz told Us. “It’s fun. I do it at my house.” (She even stuck to her diet plan on New Year’s. Simpson-Wentz fed her husband two bites of cake as the clock struck midnight, but wasn’t spotted indulging in any herself.) “I think being the mother of a new son is exercise unto itself,” added husband Pete Wentz, who earlier revealed to Howard Stern that his wife weighed 150 pounds when carrying Bronx. Simpson Wentz also aims to ” go back in the studio [to] start working. Not quite yet, but soon,” in 2009.

Aww … I just love the thought of Ashlee and Pete as parents. I can only imagine what the learning curve is for these two but I’m sure they’re figuring things out with each passing day. You will note that Pete is sportin’ a splint on his finger in these photos, I wonder what happened and I hope that it doesn’t interfere with his Fall Out Boy duties. Methinks that 2009 is going to be a good one for the Simpson-Wentz family. I wouldn’t be surprised if the couple decided to add another little bundle of joy to their expanding fam … they seem like the kind of folks that would book back-to-back babies.

I’m told that a portion of the proceeds from the art show’s painting, print and catalogue sales will benefit Invisible Children, an incredible charity working closely with Pete to better the living conditions in northern Uganda. Gallery 1998 is at 7020 Melrose Ave. (on the corner of Melrose and La Brea) and the exhibit will run until December 24.

my house smells like a fire. me and jensen were driving back from china town and there were police in riot gear on sunset. is this where we are? fucking nuts.

Just because Pete did not mention any baby news doesn’t mean that the baby wasn’t born … mebbe he’s deliberately keeping mum so that the media scrutiny will be waylaid for a few days. Incidentally, I believe the police force that Pete was talking about (and posted a photo of) were in “riot gear” in order to keep the peace as the Proposition 8 protesters took to the streets of LA yesterday. I understand the LAPD was amazingly supportive and did a great job ensuring that the protesters were allowed to peaceably and safely take their protests thru the streets of Los Angeles.

But I digress … Life & Style magazine is reporting that Ashlee did, in fact, go into labor on Friday night citing an alleged text message that Pete sent to all of his friends (and Pete’s blogpost from Friday night):

The moment is finally here: Ashlee’s having her baby! “Pete texted his friends last night that Ashlee is in labor!” an insider tells Life & Style. Plus, Pete posted Friday on his blog that he would have to cancel an interview that was intended to take place on Saturday night. “Due to breaking news and scheduling conflicts I will not be appearing on Larry King Live tonight,” he blogged. Best wishes for a safe delivery and congrats to the happy couple!

It seems likely that Ashlee did go into labor and just as likely that she has already given birth but until we get official confirmation, I guess we’ll just have to wait before sending our congrats. I hope it won’t be long until we hear of the arrival of the Ashl33n baby.
