This month Alanis Morissette is celebrating her wedding anniversary with her husband Mario Souleye Treadway and in celebration, she is sharing a new song she penned for him for their anniversary titled Into A King. Earlier this month, a Happy Anniversary message appeared on Alanis‘s official website but yesterday, Into A King showed up on Alanis‘s official Soundcloud page. Happily marrieds Heidi Klum and Seal have made a tradition of renewing their wedding vows on each of their wedding anniversaries. The couple were married on May 10, 2005 and have gotten remarried each year since in fun and sometimes lavish style. This year, the couple decided have a masquerade theme for their wedding vow renewal … and they wanted all of their children to be part of the celebration. Engageds-to-be-married Prince William and Kate Middleton, who only yesterday attended their first official Royal engagement together yesterday, made their way to their alma mater St. Andrew’s University today to, among other things, help the uni celebrate their 600th anniversary! St. Andrew’s is where Wills and Kate met … and fell in love. Looking very much like a princess, Kate looked absolutely lovely in her role as Prince William‘s fiancée … proving that she deffo has the Royal look down pat already.

So … today is a very special day for David and me. It is the 5 year anniversary of the day we met. Back in 2006, we were two bloggers in Amsterdam hanging out, enjoying the city. Today, 5 years later, we are in lurve and fully committed to one another. Not too shabby, eh? In celebration of our 5 years together, David and will be doing a bit of traveling together and we are both very excited to get our adventure started.

Today is the 15th anniversary of the release of Tori Amos‘s masterpiece third album Boys For Pele. For you Tori Amos fans — excuse me Ears With Feet — out there, you know know what an important and seminal album Boys For Pele is … so I think it’s worth taking a few minutes today to celebrate the 15th year of the album’s release.

And so … another Hallowe’en has come and gone. November 1 always feels to me the way it feels for Charlie Brown and Linus on the day after Hallowe’en … there’s so much anticipation and then, in a flash, it’s over. October 31 last year was the day that David and I met our good friends Emma and Josh and we had to celebrate our Friendiversary … unfortch, Josh got sick and was MIA all weekend long. He was feeling better yesterday but still couldn’t come out to any parties … so David and I trekked down to Manhattan Beach, CA so that we could all celebrate our 1 year together:

Our plan all along was to be the Super Mario Gang this Hallowe’en but because Josh was sick, he wasn’t able to partake in any of the fun … despite the fact that he got his Toad costume and everything. So, at the very least, we snapped a couple of photos to commemorate the occasion. We had a fun dinner and hang out session together … but it was then time for Josh to go back to bed and David and I had to get back to West Hollywood for the 23rd annual West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval! As you can see, David and I dressed up as Pac-Man characters:

We then met up with our friend Dino and hit Santa Monica Blvd. to take in the all the fun and crazy Halloween sights. Check out some of our fun photos, after the jump …

25 years ago today the classic 80′s film Back to the Future opened in theaters … tonight, on the 25th anniversary, David and I will be joined by our friends Emma and Josh for a screening of Back to the Future on the big screen:

Josh found out that AMC Theaters around the country are screening Back to the Future today in celebration of the film’s 25th anniversary and we jumped at the chance to attend. This film is honestly one of my favorite films of all time … and I’ve never seen it in a theater. I am so excited, I can’t even tell you.

On Thursday we learned that the iconic animated family The Flintstones celebrated their 50th anniversary and today we learn that the comic strip gang Peanuts (aka Charlie Brown, Snoopy and friends) is not to be outdone as they celebrate their 60th anniversary this weekend! If you consider that the Peanuts gang is 60 then that would make Snoopy 253 in dog years ;)

Peanuts, the iconic comic strip that charmed hundreds of millions of people worldwide with the antics of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy and Linus, is celebrating its 60th anniversary on Saturday. The original strip, drawn by Charles M. Schulz, first ran on October 2,1950 in seven newspapers and continued until February 13, 2000, the day after Schulz’s death at the age of 77. It has appeared in more than 2,000 newspapers in 72 countries and 21 languages and still continues in reruns. Its lovable characters, Linus with his trademark security blanket, bossy Lucy at her lemonade stand, anxiety-prone Charlie Brown and Snoopy with his typewriter and fantasies of being the Red Baron, appealed to children and adults of all ages and appeared in books, plays, TV shows and in films. Schulz’s daughter, Jill, attributes the phenomenal success of Peanuts to its universal themes … The characters became like family to her. “They were like siblings, but couldn’t argue back.” Jeannie Schulz believes the success of her husband’s comic strip came from its ability to convey common human emotions simply. “People love the simplicity and the clarity of the drawings and the language. Wow … 60 years is a long time for a comic strip to exist … and when you consider how beloved Charlie Brown and his friends still are even to this day, it’s not hard to believe that they’ll continue be remain beloved for many, many more years to come. As much as I’m not too thrilled with the onset of Fall, I am very much looking forward to Hallowe’en since it is one of my favorite holidays … and with Hallowe’en comes the yearly broadcast of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. I remember how much fun it was for me as a child to watch The Great Pumpkin … and to be honest, it still is. Then around Xmas we have the A Charlie Brown Christmas special to look forward to. Honestly, the Peanuts comic strip was never the way that I enjoyed the characters … for me, it is the cartoons that hold a special place in my heart. But I grew up in the TV age (as opposed to the print age) and I’m certain kids growing up today in the digital age will make their own beloved memories of these lovable characters. I hope you’ll join me in wishing the Peanuts gang a Happy 60th Anniversary! And here’s to many, many more!!

Big Birthday Lurve goes out today to everyone’s favorite prehistoric animated show, The Flintstones, which is celebrating its 50th birthday/anniversary this week. Modeled on the very popular TV series The Honeymooners, The Flintstones have been entertaining us for the last half-century. At the very least, hitting the 50 year mark warrants a hearty Yabba Dabba Do!

A half century ago, Fred and Wilma Flintstone and neighbors Barney and Betty Rubble put the mythical town of Bedrock on the map when “The Flintstones” cartoon aired on US television for the first time. The show, which parodied suburban life in the United States, was the longest running US animated sitcom to be aired during peak viewing hours on television until another cartoon family, the Simpsons, claimed the record in 1997. The series aired weekday evenings for 30 minutes on prime time television on the ABC network from 1960-1966, and NBC showed reruns on Saturday mornings from 1967-1970. Created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, The Flintstones’ had cartoon appeal for kids, while its satirical dialogue appealed to grown-ups. Its catchy theme song, called “Meet the Flintstones,” was only introduced in 1963, the cartoon series’ third season … On Thursday [September 30], it will be 50 years since the Flintstones and the Rubbles have dealt with the woes of the 20th century working class as they go about their daily lives in the town of Bedrock, around 10,000 BC. Fred and Barney work at the local rock quarry and live for when they clock out and can go home to their families, head to the bowling alley, drive-in movie or Water Buffalo lodge. Wilma and Betty reportedly worked as cigarette girls/waitresses before becoming suburban housewives and mothers. Wilma was believed to be the first cartoon character to be pregnant, and gave birth to a little girl named Pebbles. The Rubbles adopted a boy named Bamm Bamm shortly after Pebbles was born. Fred had a running battle with the family cat — a saber-tooth tiger which doesn’t want to stay outside for the night — and Dino, a baby dinosaur, replaces the typical modern American family’s dog. The series chronicled popular culture and spotlighted icons of the day — not of 10,000 BC but of the 1960s.

I’ve been a big fan of The Flintstones since I was very little … it’s crazy to think the show is 50 years old.
