Yesterday we learned that Mattel has announced that they are releasing a prop replica of the hoverboard featured in Back to the Future II and today we learn that the famed toy company is releasing a special set of Barbie dolls made in the likeness of Prince William and Kate Middleton. As you may recall, a doll was made of Kate when the royal couple’s engagement was announced but this will be the first Barbie doll set made for the pair … all in celebration of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first wedding anniversary this April. Kylie Minogue is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of her debut album Kylie this year and to get the party started, her official website Kylie.com has been completely overhauled with an entirely new look — celebrating K25. Today is a very special day for music fans as it is the 20th anniversary of the releas of Tori Amos‘s solo debut album Little Earthquakes. Altho the album was released here in the US in February of 1992, it was released first on January 13, 1992 — 20 (!!!) years (!!!) ago today! Fans of Amos hold Little Earthquakes in such high regard that I simply couldn’t let the day pass without paying a bit of homage to the 20th anniversary of its release … and as I type these words right now, I am listening to the Little Earthquakes album in full. Last night was a pretty fun Hallowe’en for David and me. We decided to dress up as Maverick and Goose from Top Gun and spend our night hanging with a few friends, both new and old. First, we went over to Gillian and Tim’s place to spend some time with 4 week old Gemma on her first Hallowe’en and then we made our way to the Burtka-Harris Halloween Spooktacular. Our good friends Emma and Josh are BFF with NPH and his fiancée David so we were invited to ring in the Pagan New Year at their place. It was a night of thrills, chills and good times. 10 years ago, director Peter Jackson brought the fantastical and mythic world of J.R.R. Tolkien ‘s Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring to life on the big screen. That film was the first of a trilogy of hugely successful films based on Tolkien ‘s work, beloved by fans all around the world. Empire magazine, in honor of Fellowship‘s 10th anniversary, has reunited the actors who played the Hobbits in Lord of the Rings trilogy for a special magazine feature. Yesterday we learned of a new report from Star magazine that claims that celebrity couple Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are headed for divorce after claims that Ashton cheated on Demi came to light. Apparently, the report claims, Ashton enjoyed multiple infidelitous affairs including an alleged hook-up this past Saturday night … on Ashton and Demi‘s 6 year wedding anniversary! For some reason, the couple decided to spend their anniversary apart (she in NYC, he in San Diego) which isn’t a good sign. At the stroke of midnight 30 years ago today — August 1, 1981 — MTV, known as Music Television, aired its first broadcast and its first music video for a song called Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles. Today, June 25, marks the 2 year anniversary of Michael Jackson‘s death.
