Today is 4/20 and, as such, the 20th anniversary release of the 1995 stoner movie Friday is being screen in theaters around the country today. I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I plan on attending one of those screenings tonight. I think it’s pretty clear that I am a huge fan of screenings of classic movies in movie theaters and today’s screening of Friday is right in line with my fandom. I’m not sure how you plan on celebrating 4/20 today but my plan is to be at the movies. More »

In celebration of their wedding anniversary (and the launch of his new music streaming service TIDAL), Beyoncé released a new song for hubby Jay Z. Today we get to see intimate wedding video from B-Jay‘s nuptials that Jay shared on on his official Instagram profile. The video was featured on the jumbotron during the pair’s On The Run Tour last summer so it’s not the first time the video has been seen … but it is the first time the public has gotten a close-up look at the footage. The clip is short but oh, so sweet. Watch below. More »
Celebrating 5 years of the Let's Move! fitness campaign
5 years ago, First Lady Michelle Obama launched the Let’s Move! fitness campaign to help inspire folks like Beyoncé to be more physically fit for the betterment of their health and well-being. In celebration of the 5 year anniversary of Let’s Move!, the FLOTUS made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night to participate with Jimmy his thoroughly entertaining late night talk show bit The Evolution of Mom Dancing – Part 2. The last time Michelle Obama was on The Tonight Show, she participated in Fallon‘s EW! skit … but I think I love her best when she’s mom dancing with Jimmy. Watch the video above and just love our FLOTUS.
She's still not that innocent
It’s hard to believe but Britney Spears‘s music video for Oops!… I Did It Again was released 15 years ago today back in 2000. Oops!, as you may know, was the first single from Britney‘s second album of the same name and was world premiered on an episode of Making The Video on MTV (remember that show?). I distinctly remember watching the show with my BFF Sarah back home in Michigan and altho I was already a big Britney fan, the Oops! video won me over completely. Sarah and I saw our first Britney Spears concert (from the front row!) when she launched her Oops!… I Did It Again Tour and I’ve never looked back … well, until now. It’s crazy to think that 15 years has passed since Britney squeezed into her red rubber bodysuit and took us to Mars but watching the video again (for the umpteenth millionth time) today, it’s easy to see how our dear Britney Spears became one of the biggest pop stars on the planet. Happy Birthday, Oops!
Folks, I don’t know what you’ve got planned for April 20 but I know what you SHOULD be planning to do … you need to be at the movies to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1995 comedic hit Friday. Kicking Ass Since 1995
Not only is Madonna‘s Vogue celebrating a milestone anniversary today but so, too, is the rock band Garbage who are celebrating the 20 year anniversary of their birth into the world. Altho Garbage was actually born months before March 20, 1995, it was on this day 20 years ago that the band released their debut single Vow … marking their official debut into the world. I vividly remember when Vow was released because the song sounded unlike anything I’ve ever heard before. The Vow music video, embedded above, heralded the arrival of an exciting new musical force to be reckoned with and I was immediately obsessed. Watch the 20 year old video above and then click below to read the message that Garbage shared with their fans today on their official Facebook profile in honor of this special 20 year anniversary. Strike A Pose
1990 was a very big year for music particularly because on this day back in ’90, Madonna released her truly iconic single Vogue and changed the landscape of pop music. It’s kind of hard to believe but Vogue was originally recorded as a “throwaway” single for the 1990 soundtrack to the Dick Tracy movie but upon its release (and evermore) it became one of the greatest Madonna songs of all time. Vogue was released on March 20, 1990 and today — 25 years later — we celebrate it’s birth into the world. Click the embed above to watch the equally iconic music video for Vogue and then click below to watch Madonna‘s epic performance of Vogue at the 1990 MTV Video Music Awards … because, damn, it’s Vogue‘s birthday!
