January 13, 1990
I know it’s not #ThrowbackThursday yet but I feel it is my duty to inform you that MC Hammer‘s biggest hit, U Can’t Touch This, is 25 years old. The song was released on January 13, 1990 and it immediately became a worldwide smash, catapulting MC Hammer into the stratosphere of fame and fortune. Unfortunately, due to a series of really bad decisions, MC Hammer lost both the fame and the fortune he amassed from his music career that started with the monster success of U Can’t Touch This but the song remains a smash. Click the embed above to watch the 25 year old music video for U Can’t Touch This and let’s celebrate a quarter century of Hammer Pants :)

Altho I haven’t been having the best weekend of my life, I really wanted to keep a dinner date that I had with my Sons of Anakin friends at Disneyland last night so … I got myself all dressed up and made my way down to Anaheim for our fancy anniversary dinner. Altho the actual anniversary of our club was last week, some of our members were out of town until this week so we set yesterday as the date for our dinner. We decided to treat ourselves to a fancy dinner at the schmancy Carthay Circle Restaurant inside Disney California Adventure and had a really nice time together. More »

Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of the official founding of he Disneyland social club that I belong to, Sons of Anakin. Altho the idea for the club was conceived by our founders Eddy and Andreas before the anniversary date yesterday, January 3 was the day that SOA made their first appearance in the Disneyland parks with vests and all. To celebrate the occasion, the members of the group who are in town right now got together at the Slidebar in Fullerton, CA for a little anniversary fete. There was a lot of boozin’ and laughing and, naturally, too much fun. More »

“That whole first album was me in the studio, just messing around"
Last week we learned that Nine Inch Nails has been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the class of 2015 in its first year of eligibility. Yesterday, NIN‘s debut album Pretty Hate Machine turned 25 years old, which is why NIN is eligible this year for induction into the Rock Hall. 25 years. Again I am floored by how quickly the time has passed. Earlier this year, I marveled that two of my all-time favorite albums — Tori Amos‘s Under The Pink and NIN‘s The Downward Spiral — turned 20 years old this year. Now that I’m faced with the fact that another of my all-time fave albums is celebrating a milestone anniversary, I find myself floored with wonder again. More »
