“That whole first album was me in the studio, just messing around"
Last week we learned that Nine Inch Nails has been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the class of 2015 in its first year of eligibility. Yesterday, NIN‘s debut album Pretty Hate Machine turned 25 years old, which is why NIN is eligible this year for induction into the Rock Hall. 25 years. Again I am floored by how quickly the time has passed. Earlier this year, I marveled that two of my all-time favorite albums — Tori Amos‘s Under The Pink and NIN‘s The Downward Spiral — turned 20 years old this year. Now that I’m faced with the fact that another of my all-time fave albums is celebrating a milestone anniversary, I find myself floored with wonder again. More »

25 years ago today, Janet Jackson released her masterpiece album Rhythm Nation 1814 and the world of pop music was never the same again. Conceived as an album that might inspire world change for the better, Janet‘s album transcended being merely an amazing album (with hit single after hit single) … it became a sort of blueprint for a better world. Today, on the anniversary of the album’s release, Janet‘s official website has been updated in celebration of the 25th anniversary as a reminder of how truly spectacular her album was and still is today. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are celebrating TWELVE years of marriage, and I am so weirdly psyched for them! I don’t know these people! But I’m so happy that they’ve made it to TWELVE years! If you’re watching the new show on FX, Married, (or if you’ve ever been in a long-term relationship) you know how difficult that second year is… then there’s the the third year, then there’s all the times you maybe broke up, and had to start all over again and now don’t even have an official anniversary date. Wait, what? Happy Anniversary Gwen and Gavin! You guys have to see this adorable throwback Gwen shared. Click inside!
At long, long last
85 years ago today, Walt Disney‘s first major character Oswald the Lucky Rabbit made his debut in a cartoon titled Trolley Troubles. That’s right, before there was Mickey Mouse, there was Oswald. As some of you may know, Disney sold off Oswald to another company and went on to create the very similar looking Mickey Mouse … and the rest is history. For many years, the Disney corporation tried to buy back the rights to Oswald and in 2006, they finally bought back the rights to the character. Oswald has since appeared in Disney video games and even makes appearances at international Disney theme parks but at long last, in honor of his 85th anniversary, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is FINALLY making his debut here at Disneyland. Earlier this week, Oswald was introduced in the park at a private event for a lucky audience and starting September 14, Oswald will become a PERMANENT character that you can meet and greet in the park. For the first time since he was created in the 1920s, Oswald is coming home. More »

In honor of the couple’s 1-year wedding anniversary, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroger gave his wife Avril Lavigne a 17-carat diamond ring that is bigger than the width of the poor girl’s finger. I mean, she’s not really a “poor girl” with that crazy huge diamond on her finger but in terms of style, I’d say she’s pretty poor. Believe me, I get that she loves her husband and she loves the diamond he gave her but LORDE, there is no accounting for taste. Happy Bump Watch/Anniversary!
I feel like many of us get to that point where all of our friends are—let’s face it—getting married and/or pregnant and it starts to feel a little crazy, right? I so badly want all of my high school/college friends who are pregs right now (and there are, like, 3 of them… plus a host of Facebook friends) to stay faaaar away from me. Similarly, I’m gonna ask that Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz also give me 50 feet because they are totally expecting (and that stuff is catching)! Click inside to see the very sweet baby announcement!
