Brunch & Funday

The TV Guide

Yesterday was a very fun, pretty busy day for me. Veruca Salt performed an intimate acoustic show at The Federal Bar in North Hollywood FOR FREE so I made sure to get my buns out to the Valley to see them live. Afterward, I made my way down to Anaheim, CA to hang out with my friends at Disneyland … which, un/fortunately was totally doused in rain all afternoon/evening/night long. We still had fun, obvs, but had to keep the fun indoors as much as possible. My day started out bright, sunny and hot and ended dark, rainy and muggy … and I loved every minute of it. More »

Party Like It’s 1955

The TV Guide

Altho Disney kicked off their 60th anniversary celebration for the Disneyland Resort on Memorial Day weekend back in May, yesterday was the park’s actual 60th anniversary. On July 17, 1955, Walt Disney himself opened up the Happiest Place on Earth to the world and for 60 years, brought happiness and magic to countless people from all around the world. Because of my usual work schedule, I have never been able to be at the Disneyland park when the gates open in the morning but I decided to make an exception for this occasion. I wanted to be among the first people to enter Disneyland exactly 60 years after the park was originally opened … and I had the best time ever. More »

60 Years Of Disneyland

July 17

Today, exactly 60 years ago, Disneyland Resort opened for business here in SoCal and for the following 6 decades, legions of people have visited the park and its companion theme park Disney California Adventure to experience the magic and wonder of Disneyland. I am planning to be at Disneyland when the park opens today at 8AM to mark the 60th anniversary (like, right now … as this post is being published). I never take days off — ever — and I’ve never been at Disneyland when it opens first thing in the morning so I figured I’d make an exception for the park’s 60th diamond anniversary. The folks at Disney are requesting that patrons dress as if it were 1995 — the year that Disneyland opened — so there, too, I am making an exception (I hate dressing up but I’m doing it — kinda — for the occasion today). I am hoping to be back home and in front of my computer by afternoon but it’s possible I may not get any work done today, please forgive me. And please help me wish the Happiest Place on Earth a very Happy 60th Anniversary today :)

Best. Birthday. Ever.

The TV Guide

The last few days have been a whirlwind of fun … it’s been a lot all at once but, truly, a string of really great days full of amazing experiences with some of the best people I am blessed to call family and friends. For my birthday yesterday, I awoke to an onslaught of the sweetest birthday messages from people all around the world! Readers in Australia got the party started on Saturday and, friends, I have been touched by each and every one of your birthday messages. Thank you all so much for taking the time. I love you all so dearly. My day got started at Disneyland with friends, my evening was spent hanging out with Veruca Salt and my night wrapped up with a late dinner hang with Tamar. It is no exaggeration to say that I really enjoyed the Best. Birthday. Ever. More »

Super Friends Fun

The TV Guide

Yesterday I met up with my friend Grace at Disneyland for a hang sesh in the park and we ended up having only the best day ever. Because of the massive number of people who came out to the parks on Saturday July 4, not as many people came out for Sunday July 5 … which meant that the park was mostly empty … which meant we were free to ride as many rides as we liked without having to wait in long lines. Grace and I met up around noon and didn’t stop until near closing. We laughed, rode rides, ate, took photos and had a really great Sunday Funday together.

Britney Spears was also in the park yesterday and we did our best to keep an eye out for her … but, alas, we never ran into her. I did manage to recreate a photo that she took in the park so … that was as close as I got to seeing Britney in Disneyland. No matter, Grace and I had the best time together. She cosplayed at Scarlet Witch (from The Avengers: Age of Ultron) and I kinda half-assed my Captain America look. We were able to ride pretty much all of the big rides and many of the smaller, must-see rides. I always have a great time in Disneyland but on the visits where I get to show newcomers all the fun that can be had, yeah, those are the best visits. I had a really great Sunday to close out a really fun weekend, I hope you did, too :D

Rave On

The TV Guide

After far too many weeks away, I finally made my way back down to Anaheim, CA to spend the day with my friends at Disneyland. My social club Sons of Anakin held our monthly meeting so it was the perfect chance to meet up with the friends I hadn’t been able to see for a while. Altho it was insanely hot, I really had the best day hanging out with my friends. But, as the afternoon turned to evening, I had to jet back home to LA to meet up with Eileen at the Hollywood Bowl to see Basement Jaxx in concert. We only learned about the Basement Jaxx concert last weekend when we went to the Hollywood Bowl to see Underworld> live in concert. If last week was the perfect chill techno experience, then last night was the perfect dance party rave experience — under the shining stars of Hollywood. More »

North West Celebrated Her 2nd Birthday At Disneyland With Family, Friends & Legions Of Fans

Everyone was invited!

Last week the report going around was the Kanye West and his wife were planning to “shut down” the Disneyland Resort theme park in Anaheim, CA to throw a 2nd birthday party for their only child North West. As I blogged early yesterday, it would be impossible for Disneyland to be “shut down” for North‘s birthday party … and I was right. Kanye and the Mrs. did throw a birthday party for North West at Disneyland … but they did so in broad daylight, during regular operating hours, where anyone with an admission ticket could attend. The Wests (and their family and friends) invaded the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks yesterday afternoon in celebration of Nori‘s birthday and as you can see in the gallery presented here, their activities were well documented on social media (Instagram, in particular). Click through and see some of the fun that Nori had at the Happiest Place on Earth yesterday … then click below to watch really fun video of Kanye West and his daughter trying to enjoy some daddy/daughter time on King Arthur’s Carousel inside Disneyland‘s Fantasyland. Walt Disney World Reveals Details About Their New ‘Frozen’ Ride

Frozen Ever After

Because the Disney animated juggernaut Frozen is showing no signs of slowing down, the company has decided to open a Frozen-themed amusement park ride at Epcot Center in Walt Disney World in Florida. Today we get our first look at and get to read the first details about this new Frozen ride. The attraction has been titled Frozen Ever After and as you can see below, it will take riders on a trip through Arendale by boat (mainly because this new Frozen ride is taking the place previously occupied by the Maelstrom viking ride). Have a look below and see the Frozen fun coming to WDW next year. More »

North West Will Celebrate Her 2nd Birthday At Disneyland

When you birthday wish upon a star

Last year, for North West‘s first birthday, her parents threw for her a massive birthday fete that was Coachella themed. This year, they plan to outdo themselves by throwing North a birthday party at Disneyland! Kanye West and his wife managed to secure the amusement park on a night that it closes early so that they can have Nori‘s 2nd birthday party in the park for family and friends … and I’m not gonna lie about how insanely jealous I am. Disneyland makes itself available to celebrities for weddings and private parties, so it’s not a big surprise that they have agreed to let North West have her birthday party there this month. I mean … is this not amazingly cool? More »

A Night In The Park

The TV Guide

Last night I made my way down to Anaheim to meet up with my friend Jamie who is in town this week visiting from Las Vegas. She and I actually met at Disneyland a few years ago and managed to stay in touch. When she told me she would be at Disney for a few days this week, well, I had to get down there to spend some time with her. I managed to get my friends Elena, Jessie, Alex and Eddy to meet up with us so we could make a night of it. I don’t get to get down to the park midweek very often but now that summer is nearly here, I might have to get back into the habit … because last night was so much fun. More »
