Mickey’s Halloween Party

The TV Guide

Last night I met up with my friend Gillian and her little girl Gemma at Disneyland for Mickey’s Halloween Party and we had so much fun. I’ve never been to any of the ticketed Halloween parties at Disneyland over the years (primarily because I never saw the point to paying extra to attend a function at the theme park on top of what I already pay for my Annual Pass). But, since I’ve been in a crazy Disney way this year, I figured … yes, I must go. The party is the only time Disney allows everyone to wear costumes in the park and they provide free candy, character meet and greets and entertainment that is exclusive to this event so it was all very new for me. Gillian dressed up as Alice, Gemma dressed up as Merida and I dressed up as Anakin Skywalker (just before he turned into Darth Vader) and we had a blast. More »

It Was An Accident, I Swear

The TV Guide

So, you’re probably not going to believe this (and I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t) but I swear, I accidentally went to Disneyland last night. I know, I know … crazy, I know. BUT, I had to run an errand in the Anaheim area and I had been putting it off for too long. I had a free night, traffic was light due to the holiday so I make the trek down. HONESTLY, I didn’t even plan on going into the theme park … but I did plan a trip through Downtown Disney to grab a drink at Starbucks and look for a particular pin that I’ve been looking for (yes, a Disney pin … YES, I realize I’ve finally become one of “those” people) and … well … I couldn’t resist and I kinda stumbled my way into the park. Happy 4th Birthday Audrey, Happy 55th Birthday ‘Sleeping Beauty’

The TV Guide

I’m quite certain that it will come as absolutely no surprise to any out there AT ALL to learn that I spent my evening/night at Disneyland … but I promise, I had a really good reason for being there. Two great reasons, actually. First, my friends Genevieve and Charlie’s daughter Audrey turned 4 years old yesterday and, as it their tradition, they took her to Disneyland for her special day. Second, Disney hosted a special screening of Sleeping Beauty in the park for Annual Passport holders in honor of the 55th anniversary of the film’s release as well as the film’s re-release on DVD. So, you see, there was really no way I could miss either of these major events. More »

Welcome To The Fold

The TV Guide

Yesterday was the second day of Gay Days weekend at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, CA and, unsurprisingly, I was in attendance. Yesterday’s visit to the parks was extra special because it was my friend Genevieve’s first day wearing her vest for the Disneyland social club she just joined. Because it was her first day as a patched member of The White Rabbits social club, she wanted me to hang out with her in the parks and I was happy to oblige. Gen’s patent husband Charlie and her adorable daughter Audrey hung out with us all day, into the night. We had a blast. More »

Happy 100th

The TV Guide

As I mentioned yesterday, it is Gay Days weekend at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure and since yesterday was my 100th visit to the parks, I simply had to brave the 100+ temps and get my buns down to Anaheim, CA (NOT that I ever really need a reason to go to Disneyland but …). I am happy to share that I enjoyed a really great day with all the gays in Disneyland as well as a group of friends from the Mickey’s Empire social club. After my fun-filled day, I met up with my good friend Josh Rosebrook for a sushi dinner date/hang sesh … and I managed not to melt to death, so, yay! More »

A Gay Ol’ Time

The TV Guide

It’s Gay Days weekend at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure and while it seems like a no-brainer that I would go, especially since my next visit will be my 100th visit since I got my Annual Pass back in 2007, the 100+ degree temperature is really making me think twice. As you are well aware, I’ve been spending quite a lot of time at Disneyland this year, especially since I joined the Sons of Anakin social club. I’ve been monitoring my attendance count and my next visit to Disneyland will officially be my 100th. I suppose it’s fitting that it will be 100 degrees for my 100th visit? More »

Watch: Danny Elfman Rides The ‘Haunted Mansion Holiday’ Ride At Disneyland For The First Time

"I remember the whole thing as one big favorite moment"
What's This? What's This?

Last week we saw video of composer Danny Elfman doing a reading from The Nightmare Before Christmas in front of The Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland and today we get to see another Danny Elfman in Disneyland video. If you can believe it, Danny had never ridden the Haunted Mansion Holiday ride before last week so he was interviewed about the ride afterward, which is the video above. I love HalloweenTime at Disneyland mainly because I am a HUGE fan of the Halloween revamp The Haunted Mansion ride gets each year. Click the embed above to hear Danny talk about his thoughts on the ride and then make your plans to get to Disneyland immediately! Maybe I’ll see you there!!

Relief At Last

The TV Guide

Yesterday was another Sunday Funday for me and some friends at Disneyland yesterday. Now that the temps have fallen from the low 100s to the much chillier low 80s, hanging out in the sun wearing a denim vest was almost a dream yesterday. After the sun went down, the temps dropped into the high 60s … which is downright FREEZING here in SoCal. I’m closing in on my 100th visit to Disneyland so I guess that calls for some sort of celebration … or something? More »

Watch: Danny Elfman Does A Reading From ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ At The Haunted Mansion In Disneyland

This is HalloweenTime
'Twas a long time ago ...

Composer/genius Danny Elfman made a special appearance in front of The Haunted Mansion in the Disneyland Resort recently to record a special reading from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. The reading was done to promote two upcoming concerts in LA at the Nokia Theater on October 31 and November 1 where Elfman will perform music from various Tim Burton films (including The Nightmare Before Christmas). Because we couldn’t be there to see Danny do this reading in person, the folks at Disney have graciously shared video for our viewing pleasure. It may not be Hallowe’en just yet but HalloweenTime is in full swing at the Disney parks so this video should be a great way to get you in the mood. Please enjoy.

My Sunday Routine

The TV Guide

Another Sunday, another trip down to Anaheim, CA to hang out with my peoples at Disneyland. Now that the temps have fallen from the 100s down into the 80s, it was practically WINTER here in SoCal yesterday. Altho it was still hot, it was much less hot than it’s been for the past few weeks so it did feel like a relief. The day was fun and fairly standard. Fun Fun Fun, you know, the usual. I did get to meet a PITNB reader in the parks last night so that was really a great highlight of my day. All in all, I enjoyed another great Sunday Funday at Disney! More »
