Nice To Meat You

The TV Guide

Yesterday was Dapper Day at Disneyland, which basically was just another day for me. Because I hate to dress up, I had no intention of dressing up for Dapper Day. Even still, my Sunday Funday with my Sons of Anakin friends was really fun. We spent the day hanging with a new friend, Alex, who wanted to spend the day with us so that was very cool. Because it got really rainy, we decided to end our Disney day earlier so that we could have an early birthday dinner for our friend Jesse. We went out for Korean BBQ and basically ate everything sight. More »

Watch: The ‘It’s A Small World’ Ride Caught Fire In Disneyland Last Night

Fireworks to blame?

I don’t want anyone to worry or freak out but the It’s a Small World ride inside Disneyland Resort caught fire last night, likely due to a spark from the nightly fireworks show. Thankfully, the actual ride wasn’t damaged and no one was hurt thanks to the swift action of the Disneyland Fire Department but even still, the sight of flames shooting up into the sky very near a beloved attraction at Disneyland is quite disconcerting. Click below to see video of the fire last night inside Disneyland :( More »

A Truly Royal Celebration At Disneyland

The TV Guide

Last night Disneyland hosted a special event for Annual Passholders called the Royal Celebration and it was, I have to say, one of the funnest nights I’ve ever enjoyed at Disneyland. The entire park was closed so that a select number of Annual Passholders could play in the park and get photos with various Disney characters. For the first time ever, I got to get photos with Beast from Beauty and the Beast and Pocahontas and Meeko from Pocahontas. I also got to dance my ass off with the Wicked Stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella from Cinderella. I got to enjoy the night with my friends Elena and Michael from the Mickey’s Empire social club and truly had the best time ever. More »

The Birth Of Two ‘Sons’

The TV Guide

Yesterday was a fun, really busy day for me. I spent the early part of my day in Disneyland with my friends and then, after we got dumped on by rain a couple of times, I made my way back to LA so that I could watch the Academy Awards with Emma and Duke while Josh was busy AT the Oscars. The Disney day was fun but far too short. The real reason why yesterday’s trip to Disneyland was so fun was because my Sons of Anakin social club inducted two new members into the family. Not even the rain could put a damper on the day’s festivities. It’s always a great day when someone turns to the Dark Side. More »

One More Disneyland Half

The TV Guide

This September, Disneyland will be hosting the 10th anniversary of the Disneyland Half Marathon shortly after the theme park celebrates its 60th anniversary and yesterday, registration for the Disneyland Half went on sale. Because of all the anniversary fun going on this year, I happily signed up to run my 4th Disneyland Half Marathon in a row … but it will likely be my last. I’m not giving up running half marathon races (yet) but the insane cost of running these races at Disney is starting to get out of hand. Actually, the cost of these races has been out of hand for some time now but for me, I think I’ve reached my limit. I’m very much looking forward to running the Disneyland Half again later this year as I know it will be a very special anniversary run … but the more I think about it, the more I realize it’s probably time to stop spending so much money on running races at Disney. Happy Birthday, Andreas

The TV Guide

Because of my very busy weekend, I will not be able to head down to Anaheim for Sunday Funday at Disneyland this weekend … but because today is my friend Andreas‘s birthday, I knew I had to get down to the park last night to help him celebrate his birthday weekend. I met up with Elena in Disneyland before Andreas arrived and then the 3 of us hung out for a bit and then toasted his birthday. It may have been an intimate celebration but it was really fun nonetheless. More »

Basking In The Afterglow

The TV Guide

After my very busy morning yesterday running the inaugural Star Wars Half Marathon at Disneyland, you’d think all I’d want to do is rest and relax for the remainder of the day. Nope. That’s not what I did. After a quick shower, I packed up my stuff, checked out of my hotel and met up with my friends at the parks for a good ol’ Sunday Funday. I may have been walking around a bit slower but I had a lot of fun with friends — old and new. I even ran into a friend from my teaching days in Grosse Pointe, MI all those years ago. It was another great Sunday for me. More »

May The Course Be With You

The TV Guide

Today has already been a very fun day … and it’s not even noon yet. After I spent the day completely wrecked yesterday after I ran the Star Wars 10K (dunno why, I just keep sleeping and eating and sleeping all day), I woke up refreshed and ready to run the inaugural Star Wars Half Marathon … which would complete the Rebel Challenge of running the 10K and the Half Marathon back to back. I got to take some fun photos along the way, I got to see NEW backstage/behind the scenes areas of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure (the course was much different from previous races) and I was met by a group of my dear Sons of Anakin SC friends at the finish line … which has made today the best day ever! Running Back To You

The TV Guide

Lots to update today … last night, at long last — after many, many years of waiting — I finally got to see Vanessa Williams live in concert. I’ve been a fan of Vanessa since the early 90s and have always wanted to see her in concert. Because I’m staying in Anaheim, CA this weekend for the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland, I have a room here for the weekend. So after I ran the Star Wars 5K in the morning, I had to drive north all the way into the valley to see Vanessa in concert at California State University Northridge. THEN I had to drive all the way back down to Anaheim so that I could run the Star Wars 10K this morning. So busy but so fun. More »
