Thank the GODS, I am happy to report that David and I have just about fully recovered from our HORRIBLE HORRIBLE bout of food poisoning yesterday. I mean, I cannot even convey to you how horrendous we felt yesterday … yesterday was truly one of the most painful days of my life — no kidding. Thankfully, the worst of it was over around 8PM last night … and after a dose of Aleve-D last night, I woke up today feeling almost 100% again. OY! So … today, we get back on track. The plan is to make our way to London tonight where we will be for the rest of the week. More »

Canals & Greenhouses & . . . OH MY!

So … yesterday was our last full day here in Amsterdam and I have to say, we ended up having a pretty fantastic day. Sarah, David and I went for a late afternoon canal boat tour of the city and then last night we made our way to a restaurant called De Kas where all of the food is either grown on site or is gotten from local farms. I’m not kidding when I say last night was one of the best dining experiences that I’ve ever had … unfortunately, our happiness turned to … well, extreme pain today because both David and I got violently ill :( More »

Fruits Of The Sea

Day 3 here in Amsterdam was a very nice, very relaxing and YES very chilly day. David and Sarah spent part of the early afternoon bonding at the Anne Frank House while I stayed back at the hotel working. I finished up and met them out in Rembrandt Square were we grabbed some coffee and snacks. After an AMAZING seafood dinner last night, we just hung our around Leidseplein to finish out the night. ‘Twas a very fun day, indeed. More »

I, I, I, Wanna Van Gogh, Gogh, Gogh All The Way, Way, Way

Yesterday was David’s and my first FULL day as newly engageds so it was a purely amazing day :) With my BFF Sarah in tow, we made our way to the Van Gogh Museum (which was one of the first things David and I did together back in 2006 on our first trip to Amsterdam) for an afternoon of beautiful art. We talked about going to another museum but we spent so much time with Van Gogh, we decided to grab a drink instead. We dined last night at Blauw, which boasts the finest Indonesian food in the country … and it was delish! Last night, we took Sarah to check out the famed Red Light District, then we ended our night with a bit of dancing at Bump. All in all, ’twas a fabulous day. More »

Celebrating Our Engagement

So … yesterday David and I got engaged … and the rest of our day afterward was turned into one big celebration. Because David flew my BFF Sarah out from Detroit to be with us for our special trip, the three of us have been almost entirely inseparable. As the realization of our engagement settled in, the 3 of us decided to head out into Amsterdam for dinner and celebratory drinks. We enjoyed a very fun day/evening/night and kicked off our Amsterdam vacay in awesome style. More »

David & I Are Engaged!

So … yeah … David and I arrived in Amsterdam without incident to celebrate our 6 year anniversary and … he got down on one knee and proposed marriage to me right on the exact spot were we met 6 years ago today. I happily said yes. That’s the short version … the longer version of our happy news is below. In light of this happy news, I have decided not to write the blog today so that David and I can get to celebrating our engagement. BUT, I do want to share a bit of our day with all of you amazing readers/friends who have kinda sorta been with us from the beginning of our relationship, which began 6 years ago today. More »
