Put A Record On

Our dinner/hang plans with Gillian got axed last night so my Friday turned out to be a nice and quiet one. Since I had some free time, I decided to head over to Amoeba Records to pick up some replacement inner paper sleeves for some of my records … and naturally, I ended up spending quite a bit of time among the stacks and stacks of vinyl records there. I picked up a few great new records, many of which were less than $3 each. The rest of my night was spent listening to records, both new and old. It was a quiet yet very pleasant night in.

Playing Couch Commando

Yesterday was a pretty sweet day for me. I managed to get a lot of relaxing done while still staying relatively productive. After I spent most of the day watching movies on the couch, I finally got around to cataloging my growing pile of new vinyl records and then last night I got out of the house and did a bit of dancing. All in all, it was a really fun Xmas Eve.

The Old Familiar Sting?
First Listen: Leona Lewis Covers ‘Hurt’ By Nine Inch Nails

UK popstar Leona Lewis is releasing an EP titled Hurt and on it she includes her own rendition of the Nine Inch Nails ballad of the same name. Hurt has been covered by other artists, most notably the late Johnny Cash, so hearing another version of the NIN classic is nothing new. Leona‘s version of Hurt starts out slow, almost acapella … and it builds to a swelling conclusion. Wanna hear? Check it out in full below.

‘Rolling Stone’ Magazine Names Adele’s ’21′ As The Album Of The Year

Rolling Stone magazine has released it’s list of the 50 Best Albums of 2011 and while I do not agree with the entire list (not by a LONG shot), I do give the magazine props for making the right choice in regards to their #1 album of the year. Adele‘s fantastic album 21 was chosen by RS magazine as the Best of the Year and while I don’t know if I will be putting Adele at the top of my personal Best Of list for 2011, I think Rolling Stone got it very right by putting Adele at the top of their list.
