As unfortch as it may be, Xmas is a little over a month away and the fine folks at Tous Jewelry want to remind you that there are only 36 days left before you have to have your Xmas shopping finished … which is why they’ve released this really cute promo photo of Kylie Minogue from their holiday ad campaign to inspire you to drop some dough and buy some bling this holiday season:

Okay … so even if you’re not gonna be blowing wads of cash on jewels this holiday season you gotta give it up to Tous for partnering with Kylie for their campaign. She is such a doll … if anyone is gonna get me to buy diamonds, it’d be Kylie. I’m SO not ready for Xmas just yet but I can’t deny Kylie in a Santa hat is too cute to hate on … especially when you hear her singing THIS in your head ;)

Did you know that Jake Gyllenhaal is an eyeglass wearer? I sure didn’t … which I why I was very surprised to see his appearance in the new issue of In Style magazine talking about his need to wear glasses and his lending support to the New Eyes for the Needy charity which gives out vouchers for folks in the US to receive free eye exams and free glasses as well as donates prescription glasses to underprivileged countries. Here is Jake’s New Eyes advertisement in In Style mag:

The copy reads: I’ve had really poor vision ever since I was a little kid — my mom first took me to the doctor because I was smacking into walls — and every time my prescription changed, we gave my old glasses to New Eyes. So when I started looking for a cause that I had a strong, visceral connection to, I thought of it and wanted to help bring awareness to its work. New Eyes sends donated prescription glasses to underdeveloped countries, and in the U.S. it distributes vouchers to patients for a free checkup and free glasses. There are so many people who have bad vision and don’t know it. I’ve seen kids who were on the verge of failing out of school who got glasses from New Eyes and their lives changed. It made me think, What if, when I was young, my parents hadn’t been able to afford my glasses? What would my life have been? Thankfully, my eyesight is something that I can take for granted. I want to try and help other people take theirs for granted as well.

This is so cool … there are so many needy charities out there and this is but another one. But, before Jake’s appearance in this ad I had no idea that New Eyes even existed. Christian Serratos, who plays the bespectacled and mousy Angela in the Twilight films, is featured in a new anti-fur ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. In their latest, I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur campaign, Serratos sheds her mousy Twilight image in order to inspire folks to not wear fur … behold:

As one of the stars of the Twilight Saga, Christian Serratos is used to working with vampires and the nonliving—but she would never wear anything dead. Christian strips down for PETA in the name of animals and is telling her fans, “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur.” Each year millions of animals are killed for their fur. Rabbits, foxes, minks, dogs, cats, chinchillas, and other animals are bludgeoned, strangled, drowned, poisoned, stomped to death, or electrocuted, or they have their necks broken, all in the name of fashion. Many are even skinned alive. In the wild, animals can suffer for days in steel-jaw traps before they are killed. Animals raised on fur farms spend their whole miserable existence in tiny, wire cages where they are exposed to all weather extremes. Christian, who also posed for PETA’s “Save the Seals” celebrity ad series, told us, “I’ve always been opposed to slaughtering, eating, wearing carcass.” Check out behind-the-scenes footage from Christian’s photo shoot and find out what else she has to say about animal rights.

Trent Reznor, newly happily married to his beautiful bride Mariqueen Maandig Reznor this past weekend here in SoCal, has teamed up with the hit Fox sci-fi series Fringe on a new promo video for the show. Altho Nine Inch Nails came to an end just last month when they played their final live concert ever at The Wiltern theater here in LA, TR reworked the NIN song Zero Sum for use in the new Fringe promo video. Entertainment Weekly has got the deets:

It may not be a paranormal event, but it’s cool and unusual: Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has teamed up with Fringe for a new promo spot, EW.com has learned. The spot, which debuts Thursday during Game 5 of the American League Championship Series, features a reworking of the Nine Inch Nails song “Zero-Sum” by Reznor, who recites lines of dialogue from Fringe’s William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) over the music. So, how did the freaky drama series secure the services of Reznor? After Fox’s marketing department showed the Fringe producers a version of the promo that used “Zero-Sum,” series exec producer Jeff Pinkner simply asked a nearby Reznor acquaintance—that’d be co-creator J.J. Abrams—if the NIN musician might be interested in a collaboration. One email later, Reznor was on the case. “We offered him compensation, and he said, ‘No, no, I just want to have fun and be part of something cool,’” says Pinkner, adding: “How often do you get the chance to work with somebody like that?” Reznor wound up revamping the song in his mobile studio while on tour, and he even came up with the idea of “embedding” one of the show’s glyphs in the music. (Hint: Examine the song’s sound waves on a computer.) Now for the big question: Might Reznor pop up in an episode of Fringe? “If he wants to come act on the show, that’s not tit for tat—that’s an open invitation, and we made that known to him,” says Pinkner. Any ideas on what he may play? “Well, his head would probably end up exploding,” deadpans Pinkner. “There’d be some uncomfortable biology in there one way or another.”

Looooove this!! Fringe is deffo one of the coolest shows on TV right now and I love that TR wanted to lend his voice and music to help promote the series. I would DIE if Trent decided to make a cameo on the show … even if they made his head explode, I think it’d be really effing cool. Altho it’s only mid-October and we still have Hallowe’en and Thanksgiving to look forward to, US clothier Abercrombie & Fitch have unleashed new photos from their Xmas 2009 promo campaign … and you know what that means … nekkid guys ahead! Here are a few of the new A&F photos, presumably shot by famed photographer Bruce Weber, for their new holiday promotion:

The word “fierce” seems to be the prevailing theme of these photographs of half-nekkid men. If you, like me, miss the days of yore when Abercrombie would sell their A&F catalog then I’m sure that you, like me, can appreciate that photos that might’ve appeared in the catalog (if it were still in publication) tend to pop up on the official A&F website.
