While there’s still speculation and whispers swirling around the break up of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, more details about their life together behind closed doors are coming out, thanks to an interview with their former bodyguard, Mark (Billy) Billingham. The former Jolie-Pitt watchdog recently sat down with UK’s The Sun and described his time working for the A-List celebrity family as well as their biggest fear.
Over the 18 months he was employed by the power couple, Billy says he dealt with the threat of stalkers and anyone outside their inner circle coming too close to the children. “The biggest concern for them was the kidnapping of the kids, it’s all about money. Angie and Brad are very worried about who goes near their children,” he said. “It was clear from the start we had a great chemistry and they trusted me with the kids.”
That trust allowed Billy special privileges with the kids other Jolie-Pitt staffers didn’t get. “We got very close, I was living with them all the time,” he explained. “I could take the kids anywhere I wanted to on my own. No one else was allowed to do that. Even when I wanted to bring in extra people, they wouldn’t let any of those near the kids. They could look out for them from a distance but they couldn’t physically touch them. I took them swimming. I fathered them, basically.”
Sure being that close to a celebrity family sounds like it could be cool, but the 51-year-old ultimately gave notice to leave after his responsibilities began to infringe on the relationship he has with his own six children. “I never had a private life. I was exhausted,” he said. “I lost direction in my own family life.”
Sounds like all adults involved understand the important priorities in life.
