Remember the classic monologue Quint (Robert Shaw) delivers in Jaws on why he’ll never put on a lifejacket again? He describes what happened when the WWII warship, the USS Indianapolis — on a secret mission to deliver the A-bomb that wiped out Hiroshima — was sunk by a Japanese submarine on their way back. Being that mission was so top secret, no one knew where the Indianapolis was and so the men had to wait days in the water, as sharks closed in. Quint: “11,000 men went into the water, 316 men come out, and the sharks took the rest…” Well, they’ve made a movie about it, starring Nicolas Cage. This trailer pretty much tells the whole story.1
