Taylor Swift Just Won An Emmy Award

Congratulations are in order for Taylor Swift who just won her first Emmy Award! Altho the Emmys won’t be handed out for a couple of weeks, a small number of awards were announced today for categories that won’t be featured when the awards show airs on TV. Among the winners announced today is Taylor Swift’s Emmy for Original Interactive Program for her American Express Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience which was released earlier this year in conjunction with the release of her music video for Blank Space. Taylor has already won Grammy Awards and now she has an Emmy … meaning that she is halfway to achieving the coveted EGOT status. I’d say this achievement is well worth a hearty congrats, wouldn’t you?

Taylor Swift can add Emmy-winner to her list of achievements. The 25-year-old pop star is among the list of early recipients of the TV Academy’s kudos, as the group announced juried award winners on Thursday morning. Swift nabbed an Emmy for Original Interactive Program for her AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience. The singer has a star and executive producer credit on the project, which debuted with the release of her “Blank Space” music video in 2014. Shot with a 360-degree camera, the program allowed Swift fans to explore the sets of the elaborate Joseph Kahn-directed video for the second single off of her 1989 album. The TV Academy announced a slew of other winners in anticipation of Saturday’s Creative Arts ceremony and the Sept. 20 Primetime Emmys.

Altho she’s half way to EGOT status, I think she’s still got a long way to go before she’ll get there. Even still, it would be silly to discount Taylor Swift’s abilities. She has soundly conquered the music world … it’s entirely possible that she might come for Broadway and motion picture glory. For now, let’s just send Taylor all our love and congrats on her Emmy.
