Joan Rivers Has Been Moved Out Of Intensive Care, Into Her Own Private Room

Good News / Bad News

For the past few days, Melissa Rivers has been giving us updates on her mother Joan Rivers‘s condition as she recuperates in the hospital after she stopped breathing during a medical procedure last week. Earlier this week, it was reported that Joan was put on life support while she rested in a medically-induced coma. Today Melissa tells us that Joan has been moved out of the Intensive Care unit and into her own private room … which sounds like good news. But, unfortunately, Joan isn’t yet showing any signs of improvement.

“My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable. Thank you for your continued support.” – Melissa Rivers

But, even tho Joan has been moved out of Intensive Care, she has yet to show signs of improvement … which means she is still unconscious:

Melissa Rivers just released a very guarded update about her mother, saying … “My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable.” It’s not a great sign that she’s been moved to a private room from intensive care — where she would be more closely monitored by doctors and nurses. As TMZ first reported … Joan has been on life support since being rushed to Mount Sinai hospital in NYC last Thursday. We don’t know if she’s still on life support.

Because we aren’t hearing everything, we can’t be sure what is going on. It sounds like Melissa is trying to reassure fans that Joan is doing OK but we just don’t know. I wake up every morning fearing that we will get really bad news so I am hopeful that this move from Intensive care to a private room is a positive one. GOOD VIBES GOOD VIBES GOOD VIBES … keep ‘em coming!

I don’t know if this is good news. In my limited personal experience, it was not. It just meant there was nothing more they could do, and once life support was removed… :(

I truly hope for Melissa’s sake that this is not the situation with Joan. So painful.

  2. I am SOOOO hoping Joan will come back to us. I enjoy her so much. Sending lots of positive vibes and love her way.

I can’t help but think that she’s making no improvement so she’s been moved to a private room so her family can spend that last time with her. :( I really have no idea how those kind of things work though.

In my experience too, it’s not necessarily good news. It just meant there was nothing more that could be done in intensive care. There are a limited number of beds in the ICU, plus insurance doesn’t want to pay for it if it’s not deemed necessary/beneficial. Hope they get better news.
