Last month MTV brought back its highly successful TV show Total Request Live for one night only in honor of Ariana Grande. Today we learn that another new pop star is getting in on the nostalgic MTV action as well. Iggy Azalea has signed on to be the new host of MTV‘s House of Style, a show that was a huge hit for the network back in the early 90s with supermodel Cindy Crawford (and then fashion designer Todd Oldham) as host. You may recall that MTV revived House of Style in online-only format back in 2012 with models Joan Smalls And Karlie Kloss as co-hosts but now, it’s Iggy‘s turn at bat.
This is major news: MTV’s famous fashion series House of Style is coming back, and Iggy Azalea has been tapped as its new host. Fancy, indeed. During the show, the Australian-born rapper will take viewers through L.A.’s best vintage stores, as well as music video set visits with Rita Ora and designer Jeremy Scott. The eight-episode season kicks off Aug. 4 on MTV.com and across MTV’s social media platforms. It will conclude at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, where fans can see Azalea’s commentary — from red carpet fashion to the performances — on the VMA preshow from 8 to 9 p.m. and the actual broadcast from 9 to 11 p.m. House of Style also will air a special VMA fashion recap episode on Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. This marks MTV’s second time reviving the House of Style series, which originally aired on MTV in the ’90s with hosts including Cindy Crawford, Rebecca Romijn and Molly Sims, and again in 2012 as an online series with models Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls.
First, I love that MTV is bringing back House of Style. I loved that show when it aired originally in the early 90s. Second, I’m really glad the show will air on the network for an 8-episode run. This is all great news. Regarding Iggy Azalea as host … um, I like her a lot but I do fear her voice enunciations may drive me insane … we shall see. I don’t watch much MTV at all (except for the Real World/Road Rules Challenges) but I will deff tune in to watch the return of MTV‘s House of Style … will you?
