Last week, George Clooney took The Daily Mail to task for their publication of an irresponsible story about his fiancée Amal Alamuddin‘s mother. This week, we have a much more lighthearted George/Amal item to talk about. Amal‘s law school graduation photo made its way online and as you can see below, it’s a doozy. Because she got her law degree in England, a country fond of making important people wear powdered wigs, Amal is rocking a fancy wig like a boss in her graduation photo. I wonder if George is going to demand an apology from Alamuddin‘s law school for making her pose for such a photo ;)
Before Amal Alamuddin was best known as George Clooney‘s fiancée, the Beirut-born beauty’s legal career stole the spotlight.
Laha, a Beirut-based weekly magazine, has published an undated photograph of Alamuddin, now 36, at her law school graduation. In the snapshot, Alamuddin dons barrister garb: a dark robe and a wig, as it is traditionally done in the United Kingdom. The London-based lawyer specializes in international law, human rights, extradition and criminal law and works for firm Doughty Street Chambers. She’s represented high-profile clients, including WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in his extradition case with Sweden. The trilingual (she speaks English, Arabic and French) Alamuddin also serves as an adviser to former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, the special envoy to Syria … Clooney and Alamuddin are said to be planning to wed in Venice in September.
I mean … I guess I can understand the tradition of making men wear these wigs but to make a woman wear a wig like this, placed awkwardly on top of her head and her real hair? Yeah, that’s just plain silly. Still, Amal looks happy and proud and she’s kind of an amazing lawyer so … I guess a photo like this is worth it?
