Remember the so-called Hot Felon guy, Jeremy Meeks, who caught the attention of the world for a hot minute after his super-attractive mug shot went viral online a few weeks ago? Well, today we get an update on what is going on with Mr. Meeks. It turns out that Meeks has signed with an agent named Gina Rodriguez in an attempt to turn his newfound fame and alleged good looks into a career in modeling. Rodriguez’s other clients include V. Stiviano (the visor-wearing woman who took down LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling), Octomom Nadya Suelman (the woman who gained fame for birthing 8 babies at once and then becoming a porn star) and Farrah Abraham (the former Teen Mom star turned porn “actress”) to name just a few. Altho Meeks is still being held on $1.1 million dollars bond, which is hindering his ability to sign an actual modeling contract, the fact that he now has an agent means that he could have a much brighter future.
The felon whose mug shot earned him hordes of admirers has secured a Hollywood agent who is negotiating modeling contracts even though he is still in jail. Jeremy Meeks was arrested as part of a sweep of gangs in Stockton, California, and faces a felony weapons charge. His mug shot went viral after being posted by the police department’s Facebook page and has now apparently caught the attention of an agent. Gina Rodriguez has signed Meeks, 30, as a client and he joins a roster of her other notorious celebrities. Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham, Donald Sterling’s alleged former mistress V. Stiviano and ‘Octomom’ Nadya Suleman are among Rodriguez’s other clients. “Jeremy has an amazing look and has received international attention which I feel can only help him flourish in the entertainment industry,” Rodriguez told ABC News. Though they have not formally set up any contracts with modeling agencies or other prospective employers, Rodriguez has high hopes.
“Jeremy could make somewhere between $3,000 to $100,000 per month through endorsements and modeling. We are also speaking with several production companies about following Jeremy’s foray into the entertainment industry,” she said. While Rodriguez said she is in talks with Jim Jordan, who owns modeling agency White Cross Management, company spokeswoman Mikaela Morton told ABC that “It all depends on everything, but as of now we’re not representing him.” Meeks is being held on 11 felony counts that include street gang membership and the possession of firearms, but Rodriguez does not believe that his criminal past will hinder his career prospects … One clear step that is preventing any immediate action is the fact that Meeks remains behind bars on $1.1 million bail.
Um. Yeah. Honestly, this all just sounds like a lot of talk but considering that Jeremy Meeks will remain behind bars until his bail is paid, it’s a positive thing for him that he at least has an agent. Sure she sounds like an exploitative media vampire but hey, beggars can’t be choosers. We cannot forget that all of this talk of potential modeling contracts would be rendered moot if Meeks is convicted of the felony charges leveled against him right now but … hope springs eternal. As much as I love a Cinderella story, I honestly don’t see any of this modeling business working out for Meeks. BUT, if he does manage to avoid prosecution for his alleged crimes, then it’s possible that his accidental fame might be parlayed into a more successful situation than he is in right now. I do wish him luck, he is going to need it.
