Back in May we learned that actress Angela Bassett teamed up with Lifetime TV to produce a made-for-TV biopic movie about the life of Whitney Houston and in early June, we learned that Yaya Alafia has been cast in the lead role as Whitney. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly magazine about her directorial debut, Angela was asked if she considered casting Whitney‘s daughter Bobbi Kristina in the movie and she explained very thoughtfully why she did not consider BK for the role. In an act of childishness and, honestly, horrible offensiveness, Bobbi Kristina decided to vehemently attack Angela Bassett for her comments. First, BK mocks Angela for looking like a “male” and then she calls her a “bitch”. Bobbi Kristina, folks … classy as always.
Here is what Angela Bassett had to say to EW magazine about the biopic casting:
Did you ever think about casting her daughter Bobbi Kristina as Whitney herself?
No, I did not think about that. I did not think about casting her. And probably for a number of reasons, you know. One being that she’s not an actress. I know she’s acted here and there. I know she’s been on their family’s reality show, but she’s not an actress and acting is a craft. It’s an attempt to illuminate the complexities of human behavior and life. And this is a very fast-paced schedule; we have just 21 days to tell this story. It’s more than just saying lines and turning the light on. You have to drive the story—there’s a technical aspect.
And here is what Bobbi Kristina had to say in response:
Let’s forget for a minute the fact that poor Bobbi isn’t even able to spell words correctly when she is launching an attack and focus on the fact that her immediate reaction to this perceived slight is to try and demean Ms. Bassett by calling her “male”. I mean, the young woman’s ignorance knows no bounds. That she honestly believes that she will win “Oscars” and “Grammys” is the only thing humorous about BK‘s response. Angela, I have no doubt, will take the high road and won’t even respond to this silliness. If anything, Bobbi Kristina‘s comments highlight Angela‘s original statement that BK is an unqualified amateur. Maybe this little girl will grow up one day but, sadly, I’m not counting on it. With an attitude like this, she will ensure that her dreams of acting glory will never come to pass.
