Tom Hiddleston Rumored To Play The Joker, Emily Blunt Rumored To Play Catwoman In ‘Batman V Superman’

So, we already know that Henry Cavill will play Superman, Ben Affleck will play Batman and Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel film Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Thus far, we’ve learned that Jesse Eisenberg will play the role of Superman’s arch villain Lex Luthor … but what of Batman’s villains The Joker and Catwoman? Well, a new report out today is making the claim that actors Tom Hiddleston and Emily Blunt are up for the roles of The Joker and Catwoman in Dawn of Justice. Now, keep in mind … these casting rumors are just that — rumors. But, I must admit, it would be very interesting to see Tom and Emily in these iconic villain roles, don’tcha think?

Will The Avengers star Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki in the superhero film make a good Joker in the upcoming Batman v Superman/ Justice League films? A Moviepilot report speculates whether Hiddleston could pull off the perfect Joker act in the DC superhero movies. Hiddleston did an exceptional job playing the God of Mischief Loki in the Marvel films – Thor, The Avengers and Thor 2. The actor would just need to take his menacing act and knock it up a notch to play The Joker. Hiddleston already enjoys immense popularity and tremendous fan following. However, it’s difficult to say whether the actor is capable enough to better Heath Ledger’s performance as Batman’s arch nemesis. Also, the actor might not be too keen on jumping from a super-successful Marvel setup to a yet-to-be-established DC superhero film franchise. Meanwhile, according to Spanish website, El Multicine, Edge of Tomorrow actress Emily Blunt is up for a role in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel. El Multicine’s quote translated: “The actress Emily Blunt will land on billboards worldwide with her film ‘Edge of Tomorrow’, in what appears to be a great science fiction role. Now her name returns to the orbit of comic adaptations with her possible incorporation in ‘Batman Vs Superman’, directed by Zack Snyder. A film that has been shooting since last month.” “If this is true, could we see Emily Blunt as a potential Catwoman?” speculates Moviepilot. Emily Blunt as the new Catwoman definitely seems like a super interesting idea. However, the feline villain has always been the secondary antagonist in Batman films and combining that with the fact that the film is already super crowded, it’s difficult to imagine a substantial Catwoman role for Blunt.

Oh man, this is crazy talk. I kinda love it but I think it’s for that reason that I just can’t let myself believe it at all. Tom Hiddleston as The Joker would be amazing! He did such a great job playing Loki in the Marvel films, I know he’d make a great new version of The Joker. BUT, does it really seem likely that he would be keen on playing another comic book movie villain in another big film franchise? Dunno. As for Emily Blunt as Catwoman? She’d be fantastic in the role, I know that for sure. I can see how she might be cast to play the role in future movies and may be introduced in Dawn of Justice quickly but, yes, Batman V Superman is already very crowded with characters. I still fear that this movie may turn out to be a hot mess but I do plan on having as much fun as possible with this potentially mess of a movie … especially with fun casting rumors like this. SOOOOO, what do you think? Are you feeling these Dawn of Justice casting rumors?

I have had ZERO interest it this, but those are two of my fav people ever. Who doesn’t love Tom?? It would certainly be a good call to enlist those two…

I think he shouldn’t play the Joker. Joker and Loki have a lot of similarities and an actor like him shouldn’t lock himself up in one character.

Loki and Joker are just too different. Loki is cunning and sophisticated in comparison to the crazy and insane Joker, not to mention their goals are completely different where Loki is hungry for power and wishes to gain control, where Joker just causes chaos and doesn’t care about being in power, he just likes to show the negativity of the world. Tom was a brilliant Loki, but just because he was a great Loki doesn’t mean he would be a good Joker.

Yay some Tom Hiddleston news! I don’t think it’s true though. I think Marvel is smart enough to lock their actors down from competing directly and I’m pretty sure he is going to return as Loki in future movies. I think he would have made a fantastic Joker had he not already been a fantastic Loki. Anyway glad to see Tom’s face on here!
