A ‘Will & Grace’ Reunion Is NOT In The Works [UPDATE]

by

It has been 8 years since Will & Grace went off the air back in 2005 but according to a new report, it looks like the cast is getting ready to reunite once again. At this point, details about how this W&G reunion will turn out are nonexistent but apparently, all four of the main cast — Erick McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullaly and Sean Hayes — as well as the show’s producers have all signed on for a reunion. It’s also not known when, exactly, this reunion will take place but … it’s coming, they promise it’s coming. UPDATE: RATS! NBC has followed up on this report with a firm denial that no reunion is in the works :( Read on to see what NBC and Sean Hayes have to say on the matter.

Max Mutchnick’s groundbreaking gay sitcom Will And Grace will be returning to television in the near future. Although the shape and form of the reunion is still unknown, the legendary cast has been hinting at this possibility for a while now. According to the WoW Report, all four main cast members (Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes) are ready and willing to participate in the special, eight years after the show’s conclusion. One of the only details to emerge is that the filming will take place on the same soundstage where the original show was shot, with the original producers and director James L. Burrows already on board with NBC. (Could the original set’s departure from Emerson College be a sign?)

Will & Grace was such a great show for so many years. Altho it kinda waned in the final years of its run, I deffo look back with fond remembrance. If the cast of Friends can’t get it together for a reunion, at least we can count on the W&G folks to get back together. The time is right for the cast of Will & Grace to get back together again. This is something that I think a lot of people are looking forward to. Hopefully this will happen sometime this year or next year. I think it’d be fun to see where the characters find themselves all these years later.

UPDATE: Welp, I guess it was too good to be true after all:

Whispers of a possible Will & Grace reunion special began circulating the through the interwebs yesterday after The WOW Report published a piece saying the “gay-mazing” reunion was in the works. But before fans could start reciting their favorite Karen quotes, BuzzFeed reported the reunion was a no-go, citing an NBC rep revealing there was “no truth” to the rumor that Will (Eric McCormack), Grace (Debra Messing), Karen (Megan Mullally), and Jack (Sean Hayes) would be combining their comedic powers once again on the small screen. Out actor Sean Hayes also confirmed via Twitter that none of the funny foursome had been approached about a reunion show or special. “I can officially say, no one has contacted any of us about a ‘reunion’ show or special,” Hayes tweeted.

DAMNIT. No Friends reunion and no Will & Grace reunion. Stop playing with my heart, Internet rumor mongers :/

I can’t see Megan Mullally ever doing this. She seems to want to distance herself from her Karen Walker character.
