First Look: The ‘Annie’ Remake Releases A First Trailer

"Tomorrow, there'll be sun"
"So this is what it's like living with a billionaire?"

Back in December we saw photos and video from the NYC set of the upcoming remake film Annie, which stars Academy Award-nominated actress Quvenzhané Wallis as Annie and Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx as Daddy Stacks (aka Daddy Warbucks), and today we get to see the first trailer released for the film. As you may know, this version of Annie is a modern remake of the beloved Broadway musical and as you can see in the video embedded above, the heart and spirit of the original has been upgraded for a new generation. I love little Miss Quvenzhané so much that I couldn’t be more excited for this film. The trailer is pretty standard and very cute … but I must admit, I did get a wee bit choked up when Quevenzhané starts to sing the song Tomorrow midway thru the trailer. This looks really good, y’all. Check out the trailer, let me know what you think. Doesn’t this look like the Annie that we’ve all been waiting for?

This looks absolutely adorable! I think little Quvenzhane will make an excellent Annie!

  2. It looks interesting. More modern than I expected. Do you think the singing will be as good? I’m not sure I loved that version of Tomorrow.

    the writing looks/sounds good
does the orphanage/Ms.Havishams look pretty nice to you?
    (i’ve never seen Annie)
hoping there’s not too much emphasis on material things making it all better–that it’s actually about kind word & deeds making a difference (i’ve never seen Annie ;)

  4. it looks a lot better than i was expecting. i think im actually looking forward to it now.
the one thing that did bother me was in the beginning..Cameron Diaz’s earring was hooked into her sweater instead of her ear. lol.

I really don’t know about Cameron Diaz in this.

I love love love Annie! I don’t think I will like all the changes and updates. It’s like Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan, it didn’t need to be remade.

I am a little confused by this one. I thought with Quvenzhané Wallis as Annie and Jamie Foxx as Daddy Warbucks (or whatever they are calling him), we were getting an African American version of Annie, kind of like The Wiz for the Wizard of Oz or the recent remake of About Last Night. No offense to Rose Byrne and Cameron Diaz, but I why are the two adult female leads white? Wouldn’t Weight Watchers let Jennifer Hudson get some time off to make a movie?
