Robin Thicke Reportedly Tried To Save His Marriage, Paula Patton Wasn’t Having It

Yesterday we learned that albeit not-so-shocking news that Paula Patton and Robin Thicke have decided to separate after almost 9 years of marriage. As you may recall, the official statement that was released yesterday made the claim that the decision to split was a mutual one but today we are hearing that it may not have been so mutual after all. Apparently, Robin decided to cancel a few shows so that he could fly up to Vancouver, British Columbia where Paula is currently working on a new film to try and save his marriage. Obviously, his attempts were unsuccessful. According to reports, it was Paula who decided to end things … altho we don’t yet know the official reason she decided to do so. Read on to learn more about how Robin unsuccessfully tried to save his marriage at the last minute.

Robin Thicke threw a Hail Mary last Friday to try to save his marriage … cancelling his Atlanta concert and flying to Canada to plead with his wife … TMZ has learned. Sources connected with the couple tell us … Paula Patton told Robin Friday she wanted to end the marriage. Robin then abruptly cancelled his show, saying he had throat problems. But the cancellation was solely so he could sit with his wife and try to change her mind. We’re told Paula — who is shooting a movie in Vancouver — and Robin had a long, face-to-face talk … both acknowledging they had not been getting along and frequently arguing. Our sources say in the end Robin realized Paula was determined to end the marriage and reluctantly agreed, but was very upset. We’re told she was also upset. The next day Robin cancelled his Orlando concert so he could be with their child.

Altho we may have our suspicions as to the cause of the split, we really don’t know for sure what went down in this couple’s personal life behind closed doors. Clearly they were very happy for a long time and almost 9 years of marriage isn’t anything to sneeze at. It’s possible that something caused Paula to decide to pull the plug and if she cannot get over that “something” then it’s unlikely that the couple will reconcile. That said, anything is possible. I know there are a lot of people placing blame in this situation but, again, all that really matters is what Paula and Robin decide to do. I really like Paula Patton and I would like to see her happy. If her happiness depends on getting out of her marriage, then she has to do what she has to do. At this point, the couple are only separated … so there’s still a chance that they might have room to get back together. I guess we’ll have to see. I can’t say that I blame Robin for trying to save his marriage … even if it was too little, too late. Paula Patton is an amazing woman. If he really did do something to wreck his marriage, then that is a guilt he’ll have to live with for the rest of his life. But, again, we are all operating on assumptions and conjecture. When couples split, there sometimes is enough blame to go around with both parties. In the long run, they’ll both be fine. If they are meant to stay together, they will. I guess we shall see.

What bothers me is that there are probably a lot of people who will ignorantly blame her. He flew all the way to Vancouver! And she didn’t take him back! How mean!

Relationships are complex, and only the people involved know what’s up. Life isn’t some huge romantic comedy where making a big gesture erases whatever hurt and problems exist.

I have a feeling that it isn’t over. I really do hope they can work it out…I know in Canada unless there are extenuating circumstances you can’t actually get divorced for a year. Is it the same in America?
