Confirmed: DMX Will Fight George Zimmerman In That Celebrity Boxing Match [UPDATE]

Last week we learned that George Zimmerman agreed to participate in a Celebrity Boxing Match and as soon as that news got out, folks have been lining up for the chance to fight him in the ring. Rapper The Game was the first person in a very long line of interested parties hoping to face off against Zimmerman in this boxing match. A few days later, we learned that Zimmerman was hoping to go up against Kanye West but today we learn that his opponent had been selected. Rapper DMX has been chosen from a group of 15,000 applicants and is the lucky person selected to fight George Zimmerman. Dude. Shizz just got really, really real.

It’s official … X gonna give it to George Zimmerman — TMZ has learned, rapper DMX has just been named Zimmerman’s opponent in his upcoming celebrity boxing match. Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman tells us, DMX was selected out of 15,000 applicants … all of whom wanted a piece of Zimmerman in the ring after he issued the open challenge to fight anyone willing to take him. But no one wanted to beat Zimmerman’s ass more than DMX. As we first reported, DMX promised to massacre Zimmerman in the ring if he got the chance. To be exact, he said, “I am going to beat the living f**k out him … I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f**k him right up.” He then said he’d literally piss on George’s face.

Zimmerman might actually have a chance though — as we reported, he’s been training pretty hard for months … oh yeah, and he’s only 30 years old. DMX is 43. The boxing match will be 3 rounds. The date, time, and location of the fight will be announced at a news conference next Wednesday.

Zimmerman may be training really hard now but DMX has lived a LIFE training for a physical battle like this. I can’t even remember how many times DMX has been in jail … and my guess is that each stint in the big house toughened him up a bit more each time. That being said, overconfidence is the surest way for DMX to lose. I don’t think he can just show up and expect to win this fight, he’s going to have to train himself. Man. I think I’d have to put my money on DMX over Zimmerman but … yeah, I could see how this fight could turn out in Zimmerman’s advantage. That being said, I don’t think DMX would be able to live with himself if he loses so … we’ll have to see how this boxing match will turn out.

Who do YOU think will come out on top in this match-up? Are you looking forward to watching these two men beat the Hell out of one another for entertainment?

UPDATE: Um, it sounds like this deal isn’t quite done just yet. DMX says that he has agreed to fight Zimmerman BUT the matter of his payment has yet to be settled so …

The rep tells us, DMX verbally agreed to “beat Zimmerman’s ass” … IF and when he sees the terms of a contract … which hasn’t happened yet. Once an agreement has been finalized, we’re told DMX will officially be down for the bout.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see if this match up will really happen cuz I’m thinkin’ if the money ain’t right then DMX ain’t gonna fight.

i was kind of hoping The Game would be the one to go into the ring with GZ. but oh boy…if DMX goes through with this and loses? dude will never live it down

This whole thing literally makes me sick to my stomach..The “celebrity” label on that pathetic excuse for a man..All the attention he’s getting..The risk that he might actually win..I hate every bit of it..

I agree. No matter the outcome, it is a lose/lose situation. If DMX does kick his butt, Zimmerman’s supporters will no doubt compare it to the Trayvon fight, suggesting that this is proof that he was in danger because he can’t fight. If he wins, it will feel like there is no justice or poetic justice.

I also agree with your point. A person that killed someone and was tried for murder is now filling the role of “celebrity” in this match. Truly disgusting.

It just breaks my heart that it he hast ti get paid and beat up by DMX, for Trayvon Martin to get some of the justice he deserves. Sad, sad, sad.

    I hope DMX kicks a**!!!!!

Kendra, I COULD NOT AGREE MORE!! He is not a “celebrity.” He is a murderer and a douche and a pathetic human being. Is this going to be aired on TV? If so, I will boycott whatever TV station airs it and will yell from the rooftops to get everyone I know to boycott them as well.

I’m pretty certain DMX could set up a fund and a LOT of people would donate to the cause, lol.

  • JJS

DMX should do a Kickstarter to raise funds for his training. I’m guessing he would set a new record!

“I guess we’ll have to wait and see if this match up will really happen cuz I’m thinkin’ if the money ain’t right then DMX ain’t gonna fight.”

I’m thinking this fight is a career killer for any African American celebrity and someone told DMX to find a reason to get out of this fight.
