Beyoncé Appears To Be Embarking On Another Vegan Challenge

'#22daysvegan'

Last month we learned that Jay Z and Beyoncé were going vegan, if only for 22 days. As a part of his 44th birthday celebration, Jay took up a challenge set before him by a vegan chef/friend and decided to fully embrace the vegan lifestyle for 22 days. I thought it sounded cool, and mentioned that I’ve had some seriously bomb Caribbean vegan food in my day so I can see how one could fairly easily go vegan with the right food (and the right vegan chefs). And it seems like Beyoncé really enjoyed the experience because a new Instagram photo suggests that she’s going back on another challenge. Click inside for more!

Vegan Bey, Le Deux:

#22daysvegan

Some people called out Bey and Jay for being gimmicky, and/or for making the vegan lifestyle seem more like a trend than anything. But I can’t really be mad at them for promoting this particular movemement. And based on what we saw of Bey at the Grammy’s, veganism does a body pretty damn good.

What do you guys think? Is Queen Bey on her way to becoming a full-blown 365 day/year vegan?

Oh, and apparently this 22-day challenge isn’t just something Bey and Jay are doing. It really is a whole movement, hence the label on the chocolate bar). Go HERE to learn more about 22 Days Nutrition.

P.S. Okay, I just read the 22 Days Manifesto and I am SO into it. I have to say, this sounds like a great project and I’m glad Bey is promoting it.

  1. I think it is great that people are able and willing to do this, but I am sorry I love me some steak!

  2. I’d like to point out that being vegan isn’t just what you eat, it’s the products you use, the clothes you wear, etc. Was I the only person absolutely aghast and totally offended when I saw her wear a head-to-toe leather outfit to a vegan restaurant??! I’m sure we can all agree that there’s no way she’s going to rip the leather out of her car, switch to cosmetics entirely free of animal products, give up leather handbags and shoes, etc. While I’m all for eating healthy, she really shouldn’t be labeling herself as vegan unless she’s entirely committed to the lifestyle.

    • A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. This is a nice step.

Or this is a crash diet disguised as a nice step.

That is exactly what I was thinking when they first did this, there were pics the next day with both Jay-Z and Bey in head to toe leather…

    • I don’t know about that. There different types of veganism, Dietary Vegans and Ethical Vegans. If she is just being a dietary vegan for health reasons (and not as a result of sympathy for animals), then she is not out of line here.

I think the idea that people can’t get into veganism slowly, but have to 100% change their entire lifestyle if they want to try it, hurts the cause more than helps it. Encouraging anyone to reduce their animal product consumption, even if for just one meal, is a good thing.

I’ve been vegan for 25 years and consider it one of the best decisions of my life (my doctor agrees).

Here’s a video to help everyone understand why so many people are making this life affirming choice and why the number of vegans has doubled in the US in less than 3 years.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKr4HZ7ukSE

I only like about 6 or seven vegetables so this would never fly. I would die. Beyoncé better watch it, she can’t afford to loose much more booty.
