Last night I met up with my friends Emma and Josh for a really fun night of SCIENCE up in the Hollywood Hills. First we enjoyed a great meal at Mess Hall in Los Feliz and then we trekked up into the hills to spend some time learning at the Griffith Observatory. We talked about visiting Griffith last week but we couldn’t get our trip together until last night. Griffith Observatory is one of my fave places in LA and I do try to pay a visit every once in a while. It’s been a couple of years since my last visit so, yes, I was really excited for our little science excursion.
We spent some time checking out the exhibits in the observatory before we settled in for the 25 minute film in the planetarium. I know it sounds terribly nerdy but there is something really fun about learning about astronomy in an observatory. The building is just so beautiful. Most of the things you can do there are completely free and the films are really affordable at about $7 each … money that goes back into the support of the observatory. Believe me, I get that hanging out at a science center is not the usual Friday night fare but we had a lot of fun.
Today, I’ll be attending Tam and Rob’s holiday party and then, hopefully, getting a full night’s sleep because Adriana and I fly out to Japan early tomorrow morning. At this time tomorrow, I’ll be somewhere over the ocean jetting toward the Land of the Rising Sun. I’m really excited, extremely anxious and only a tiny bit scared :) I don’t know that I’ll have much time for blogging tomorrow so I hope you’ll bear with me. I am planning to work as much as possible while I’m away but, again, I hope you’ll understand if my work schedule is a little lighter than usual. I will do my best to share as much of our adventures as I can along the way. Because Tokyo is 17 hours ahead of LA, I’ll be reporting to you from the future! I hope to hear from you guys along the way. I’m always up for suggestions and advice. Enjoy your weekend, enjoy the upcoming holiday and let’s send 2013 out with a bang!
