It’s been a very long time since popstar Hilary Duff put out any new music but today we learn the JOYOUS news that Hil. D is back in the studio NOW recording a new album of songs. A lot has happened in Hilary’s life since she put her music career on hold … she got engaged, then got married to Mike Comrie, then had a son named Luca Cruz. She wrote a book, guest starred on Gossip Girl and Law and Order: SVU. She’s been bizzy elsewhere … but now, it’s time to get back to the music. Better days w/ @thehitlife
I know the old skool blog readers will remember the days when Hilary Duff was one of the Hollywood “It” Girls — big oversized sunglasses, Starbucks drink in hand and older sister Haylie Duff walking 2 steps behind carrying her purse … ah, the good ol’ days. You may also remember that once upon a time, Hilary dated rocker Joel Madden of Good Charlotte (back when they were called Jilary and way before he settled down with wife Nicole Ritchie and she with Mike). To me, it doesn’t seem like it was all that long ago but … yeah, it was a lifetime ago. For those of you who may not remember the contribution that Hilary Duff made to pop music, I present to you some of my fave songs from her storied career.
First up, her first big hit song So Yesterday:
Her biggest, most popular song has to be Come Clean (which was used as the theme song for the popular MTV reality series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County):
My all-time favorite Hil. D song has to be Beat of My Heart (taken from one of her numerous greatest hits albums Most Wanted):
Stranger, the last single taken from her last album Dignity:
Hilary Duff is responsible for some really fun pop music of the mid-00’s and I cannot WAIT to hear what she’s going to come back with. I suspect her new music won’t be as saccharine-sounding. I understand she is working with producer Billy Man (who has written songs for P!nk, Kelly Rowland, Robyn and others). We likely won’t hear anything new from Hilary until next year but … ah, what a year it will be. The much anticipated return of Hilary Duff is coming … soon! We are not worthy.
