Shipwrecked

The TV Guide

Yesterday was a mostly non-eventful day. My car was due for an oil change so I took it to the dealership for routine maintenance and had them check out a little problem I noticed with one of my power locks and it turned out that they had to keep my car so that the little problem could be fixed. As a result, I was kind of stranded without my car for the rest of the day. I did manage to salvage my afternoon with a trip to KFC (NO JUDGEMENT, PLEASE) and then I settled in for a quite night at home. Since I’m all excited about my upcoming trip to Japan in December, I’ve been on a crazy anime kick lately. I dug out a bunch of old DVDs and just contented myself with animated entertainment all evening/night long.

After watching 20 or so episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura, I thought it would be fun to watch a few OLD episodes of Sailor Moon (suggested by a few PITNB readers) and then I got sucked into watching a few more eps of the series. I had forgotten how incredibly silly Sailor Moon truly is. I was reminded of how I fell in love with watching anime back in the early 90s and, well, I guess I had a nice night in last night. I will likely watch both series in full before my trip this December.

So, yeah, that’s about it. I’m waiting to hear back from the dealership about when to pick up my car … if I get info/my car back in time, I’m planning to meet Tamar for yoga later today. I hope all y’all are having a great Tuesday!

  1. OMG! SAILOR MOON!

(I hope you were watching it subbed.)

    • @Serenity — “I hope you were watching it subbed”

I always watched subbed when possible. Anime is so much better in the original Japanese.

You got your Sailormoon from Malaysia!!! :)

How about trying some of Studio Ghibli’s animation movies as well? Howl’s Moving Castle is a favourite, Spirited Away is also good. All of Studio Ghibli’s animations are good, tbh (check out the ones by animator Hayao Miyazaki!)

So envious that you’re heading to Japan, I love the place myself! Do check out Tsukiji Market for all that seafood action. Daiwa restaurant is must-go-to-place for fresh sushi – they’re located near the markets and get all their seafood from it!

Can’t wait for updates on your trip – I’ll have to live vicariously through you!

    • @Krystalksmuch — I am a HUGE fan of Miyazaki. ‘Spirited Away’ is one of my fave films of all time. I don’t even consider Studio Ghibli films “anime”, per se … they are cinematic masterpieces, IMHO :)

All the more you should go to Studio Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, you can get tickets to the museum at any Lawson outlets in Japan. you can’t take any pictures inside the museum ( that’s the downside) , but I had a blast visiting the museum and reminiscing those old Studio Ghibli films. Oh, if you happen to see the MV of Hikoukigumo by Yumi Arai for the movie, The wind rises ( Kaze Tachinu) , they did show a glimpse of Studio Ghibli Museum ^^

You are right – Miyazaki is a total genius..sad to see him retire! Well, have fun prepping yourself for the trip! :D

Ooo! Good choice! With the new anime series coming out in a few months, I’ve been wanting to rewatch Sailormoon as well!

You should read the Sailor Moon mange, is much more dark. The series though great, in my eyes, suffers from lots of filler. There is remake planned by the creator of the manga :)
