From time to time here in LA, Arclight Cinemas (my fave movie theaters in the world) screens classic fan-favorite films and last night they hosted a screening of the 2001 French film Amélie. Amélie has to be one of my all-time favorite films … for a host of reasons but primarily because of it’s sheer brilliant charm. I’ve seen the movie many times over the years but not in a theater since it was released here in the US back in ’01. I knew I was gonna attend the screening but I had to find the perfect date … and then I started hanging out with my friend Amelia again and it was kismet. Amelia and I packed a lot of fun into one Sunday night, see some fun photos below.
Amélie was just … perfection. The Cinerama Dome at the Arclight Hollywood is just the best theater ever to see movies. The magic of old time Hollywood is alive in that space … gah, what a great night. After the movie, we made our way to the Cha Cha Lounge for cheap beers and photobooth taking (cuz, duh, we just saw Amélie) and then after that we made our way to the Echo for a bit of 80′s alternative dancing (think The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, OMD, etc.). The fun don’t stop when I get to hang out with Amelia so, yeah, I think we’ll be hanging a lot from here on out :)
No plans for today, at least not yet … it’s Monday so … it’s a new week. August is about half over, which means Summer is practically over. Blah. Mebbe I’ll get out of the house and enjoy it while I can. Happy Monday!!
